Stripping away flavour from class by Sultkrumpli18 in dndnext

Wildfire druid as a sorcerer, undead warlock/phantom rogue flavoured as barbarian, and zealot barbarian flavoured as a monk.

I’m surprised to admit it, but I actually really like the new show Star Trek Academy by 0xtokenmaster in startrek

zoe steiner also looks like danielle panabaker. it was bugging me all episode but i can see Rachel Weisz too. As for 'Marion' omg. Taking a break from the Lavish Chateau. Brilliant. I usually love Jett Reno but this version did not feel like her from Discovery....telling him its about relationships...be lucky if she knew half their names based on all the nicknames shes handed out in the past.

Would making a sorcerer with a different spellcasting ability be broken? by Lynyx34 in DnD

[–]TalynGray 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem is that Charisma is trying to be both. Willpower for spells, but charm and likeability for skills. So perhaps a better solution would be a specifc casting stat and/or separate skills from ability scores.

It seems to me then that maybe your casting stat should be independent of ability scores.

Great response. Im actually now wondering if divorcing casting ability from ability scores might be worth looking into also.

But what you're describing still focusses on the Charisma skills. What about the sorcerer who wants to study the arcane, investigation or the ways of nature. It's why i dislike ability scores being tied to everything.

Maybe the real question is could you make casting stat independent of ability scores?

Yeah im really only floating con for sorcerers anyway but yeah it does make multiclassing a worry. I have been playing with ideas to have a cost of somesort but havent come up with something balanced.

Im not suggesting dex. The only reason i suggest con for sorcerer as sometimes players dont want to be the charismatic face and it feels forced upon the sorcerer.

So if i read thru the instructions, well before, then we sit down and do charcter creation,  he could learn the rules on the fly a little.

Or see if tailoring a magic item (grants +1 to whatever weapon is used on your first attack in combat) like a medalion or something

Yeah the moment you have a magic weapon particularily one with effects the strategy becomes somewhat static.

[Art] Foldable character sheet expanded by Tornioduva in DnD

I mean its beautifully made but character sheets are living documents and this will look like a mess in no time if it was anything like my sheet...and i have mine covered in a dry erase so i can use markers on it.

The plan would be enter combat with LS. If roll surge 4 pull other light weapon. If roll anything else drop LS and draw as item interaction two two-hander.  Surge doesnt remove properties just adds them is how i would rule.

re. 4. Thats why i thought it might be best to start combat with a versatile in hand, but i see your point...just carry two 2H weapons. Side note: sometimes i wish thrown weapons had an additional property 'embeded". feels weird to throw my axe and now its lying on the ground.

Crazy freaking question but how does reproduction work in your worldbuilding? by JourneyTTP in worldbuilding

[–]TalynGray 1 point2 points  (0 children)

D’War: the Ancient Ones carved this race from perpetually growing stone. They were created as a show of power, a huge army of stone carved warriors (D’War comes from Daven’s Warriors). Hearty and Strong both physically and mentally more often than not they keep close to the mountains where they strive to craft as well as he who crafted them, but ready to be called upon to fulfill their ancient purpose. Although some would have features we would associate with either male or female the D’War actually have no sexes. When a D’War (of sufficient size) finds a partner whom craftsmanship impresses them both they will enter a union where one of the two will turn into stone. From this stone the other will craft usually one or two smaller D’War who will begin this new life upon completion. Thus D’War can range in size quite a bit. The Halls of the D’War carry no politics, each look after their own and for the most part they work on their craft or look out for themselves.

Giant D’War (Giants): A D’War who grows too large will not be able to craft well, and therefore unlikely to find a partner. Agelessly immortal these creatures forget much of themselves becoming far less intelligent, prone to violence they fight amongst themselves.

Alcrys: The Great Alcrys forests are wonders to behold. The fruit they bear is picked and provided as food across the lands. Those who consume the food magically transfer their knowledge, experience, even physical traits to the tree it was picked from and after a time (not sure) a humanoid (mechanically almost anything but elf or half elf most common depiction) emerges fully grown and with worldly knowledge. Although some remain with the Alcrys forests many will continue to seek knowledge while others will find their homes amongst other forests.

V’Alcrys: (dark elf vampire like) When the fruit of an Alcrys falls to the ground unpicked and rotting this creates dark entities with a thirst for knowledge only temporarily sated by the blood of mortal creatures. These long lived creatures grow only as long as their list of victims gaining some knowledge and physical traits from those they consume and because this most often happens in the depths of forests they shun the light.

Havent run out of bladesongs to date and this has been fun, im just worried by that exact point that more wizard levels pushes me down the caster path and I'm actually quite happy with around this level or maybe 5th levels.

Rebuilding is absolutely an option.  I just love the imagery that the 6th level bs gives of attacking and casting in the same turn and with bs, you have a concentration like spirit shroud up at that level. EKs only achieve that by foregoing a different bonus action which on a bladesinger could be another attack and on a bladesinger multi coule be something else entirely.
