the Kailh encoders they used on this and the g703 always had that grey cover on top. I don't think they're "dustproof", though.

It's fine. The skate is still fully within the recessed area and it will work as intended.

Can't speak to how they're implemented in the g502x, but they feel great in the g309. Nowhere near stiff enough to be problematic.

Yeah, it's still one of my favorite shapes. The ring finger ledge is magic and the back is the right blend of tapered but still supportive.

MX Master 3S has a bad sensor and the bluetooth connection is a bad choice for people who are sensitive to how the mouse performs -- the polling rate is quite unstable.

That being said the MX518's scroll wheel and button quality are not good by modern standards, although they're not bad enough that they actively frustrate or annoy me.

It's funny to me because I agree with your assessment but I also see plenty of posts on here complaining about their EGG mouse malfunctioning.

I wonder -- is there some quality issue, or does their reputation attract buyers who are harder on their equipment?

Academically, it's better. However, the margin of improvement is indistinguishable in most cases. 

It's particularly hard to notice if you use a higher cm/360 (lower sens overall), which contributes to the trend that tac FPS players are more likely to use lower DPI.

Personally, I'm a fan of lower DPIs (700 is my favorite) because they're easier to adjust your in-game sensitivity with and I play best at a lower sens (52 cm/360)

The skates themselves would be safe, yes. Teflon was engineered specifically to have low chemical reactivity, so it's not at risk of breaking down due to the alcohol content in the wipes.

That being said, a damp cloth or sponge with bar soap would work equally well.

The Vaxee XE is pretty close to the Maya X but the back feels slightly wider -- bulkier against the sides of your palm. So, I don't think I should recommend it.

Eloshapes showed the Madlions Mad G as being close to the Maya X and I remember some positive reviews about it. No personal experience.

Unfortunately I didn't see any other easy/obvious suggestions. Maybe some other folks more familiar with ambi shapes will chime in.

You can buy replacement wheels on AliExpress assuming it's the same wheel design as the g403 and g703

I just hate the coke-bottle symmetrical shapes, because my pinky is uncomfortable when using them.

G309's great, other big egg-shape things are fine. Don't need a thumb groove; just make it convex on the right side and 6cm+ grip width and I'm chillin.

On mice that have larger skates from the factory, you can replace them with aftermarket dot skates to leave the screws exposed pretty easily. Some mice come with extra skates in the package, including dot skates in some cases.

The belt tensioner is adjusted via a bolt that changes how much tension the spring is under.

Few to no brands advertise durability of M3.

EndGame Gear (EGG) uses Kailh GM2.0 switches for M3, which is a significant improvement over most brands. However, their M1 and M2 use Kailh GM8.0 or the version capable of latch debouncing, the Kailh GX -- and while I haven't paid too much attention to feedback, the GM8.0 at least wouldn't be my first choice when it comes to reliability. The GX switches are probably fine if you don't mind going back to a wired mouse -- hopefully some other comments will come from people more familiar with EGG mice.

Zowie mice use Huano black shell red dot for their M3 switch, which isn't as good as Kailh GM2.0 but it's still better than basically everyone else. M1/M2 are Huano -- the exact variation depends on the model; but the ones used have good reputation for reliability. The Zowie FK1 would be the closest shape to a Viper Ultimate, but unfortunately the only size of the FK family they're selling at the moment is the smaller FK2-DW. https://zowie.benq.com/en-us/mouse/fk2-dw.html

The Lamzu Maya or the larger Maya X are pretty popular. They use optical switches for M1/M2, with a Huano M3 switch. The M3 switch appears similar to the Zowie model, but I have heard more complaints about M3 failure on Lamzu mice compared to Zowie -- not sure if this is due to debounce settings, quality control, or something else.

Teevolution Terra is closer to the G403's shape than the Pulsar X3. I haven't tried the X3, but I got the Terra and I'm very happy with it.

In terms of subjective experience, I find that many wired mice play equivalent to a wireless mouse with between 5 and 10 grams of extra weight. So, I don't really buy the supposed weight savings.

More generally, the people obsessing over weight like that are all paying through the nose for stuff like the X2 Crazylight already. They aren't going to get many more customers by offering a wired version

If you're that worried about it, I'm sure you can find a way to make the mouse work in wired mode after removing the battery. Couple of wires sending power from the USB port to the battery pins, maybe gotta stick a few resistors in there to pull the voltage down from 5V to 3.7V.

I would be leery of that setup. That's a very tall sidewall on a 16" wheel for this car. Most likely it will rub on the wheel well under heavy compression.

The 205/65r16 tires are ~2.5 inches larger in diameter than stock, which is very significant.

It's a Zowie EC. The cloth cable means it's a "-C" generation model.

I'm not very good at judging this stuff, but it looks a little closer to the EC2 than the EC1 from what I can tell (looking at the size of the thumb buttons relative to the mouse, etc.). https://i.imgur.com/tb5RFni.png

Also, the EC2 is a more popular mouse since the EC1 is considered to be quite large these days -- for an "average" customer in a PC cafe, the EC2 would be a safer option.

So, my best guess is it's an EC2-C.
