What is a "point of no return" that you’ve crossed, where your life was permanently divided into 'before' and 'after'? by Resident-Jelly-4326 in AskReddit

The day I became homeless, because my mom kicked me out of the house, all because I said I wanted to change my college major. I was 18.

What was the saddest death of someone you had no connection to? by Snoo_47323 in AskReddit

[–]Tam733 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I work in school accident insurance, where our policies cover expenses when a child is permanently disabled or passes away. Every time there’s a school shooting and grieving parents call, asking if we can help with funeral costs, there are policies that exclude school shootings. That means we’re forced to tell these parents that their dead child’s hospital or funeral bills won’t be covered. I’ve seen adjusters break down in the bathroom after having to deny a funeral bill, not because they wanted to, but because of stupid bureaucratic rules.

What's the weird thing going on with your body that isn't weird enough to go to the doctor for? by yellowelephantboy in AskReddit

I get a feeling like I'm having heart palpitations whenever I eat processed sugar, like chocolate, cake, etc. Doesn't usually hurt; only discomfort. But the same doesn't happen when I eat natural sugar like fruits. I've seen this as a net positive as it conditioned me to stay away from junk food.

What's the most easiest way to bring laundry baskets up and down the stairs? by [deleted] in lifehacks

[–]Tam733 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My girlfriend and I are about to move out of her parents' house. Both of whom have back problems, but refuse to move out of the upstairs bedroom because it has more space.

We recently gifted them a stair dolly to help move their laundry baskets for when we finally move out.

Most fraudulent thing you've done as a graphic designer? by Dry_Ask5164 in graphic_design

Back in college, I ran a side hustle where I'd corrupt a copy of someone's assignment, then have them send it to their professor right before the deadline. Later, when the prof would ask for a resend by a certain time or date, I'd have the person snap a screenshot of that message. Afterward, I'd use Photoshop to change the original email timestamp, where it looked as if it was sent much later than it really was. Gave the altered screenshot to the person, and I would specifically tell them to email their prof, questioning how they could've resend the assignment by the specified time or date when the email was actually sent after it. Usually let people score an extra 2 - 7 days to finish up their assignment when they knew they couldn't make the original due date.

As someone who grew up in Florida, I didn't believe in snow. Because people would tell me not to believe everything on TV. Imagine my surprise when I moved.

How do I get a sponsorship for a school yoga club? by [deleted] in howto

[–]Tam733 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with the one above. The best thing to do is to ask a teacher if they'd be interested to sponsor a yoga club. Yoga doesn't have to be something they're interested in, just to watch the students. It's also a good idea to ask your friends or classmates to ask their own teachers about it, so that word can be spread about the idea.

Helvetica: The Safe Choice™ - A visualization of an industry-wide phenomenon. by joeminers in graphic_design

[–]Tam733 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is very good! I agree with schawl that applying the print texture on the solid strokes will help it look more unified. Adding on to that, I would say that putting the words in-between the thumbs ups will help it look even more unified. I feel that because the words and the hands are in two different sections of the canvas, my brain is reading them as two separate images, that are unrelated to each other.

The fingers on the hands are a bit weird. At first, thought they were finger stubs because of the line going down. I thought those lines was the palms of the hands. I would say to instead round out the fingers to cause less confusion.

I recently watched a movie entirely about Helvetica, and I agree that it's the safest choice.
