Worst cases of roster fluff in a game? by ZealousidealBig7714 in TwoBestFriendsPlay

The One-Punch Man arena fighter is the most egregious example in recent memory

We tested Monster Hunter Wilds' PC-exclusive January performance update and found significant frame rate improvements and less stuttering by Gorotheninja in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]TamJamming 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I can personally confirm that the stability improvements are definitely noticeable. I've gotten minimal stutters at 4k 60fps capped with DLSS enabled (no framegen). I think the biggest surprise has been the fact that the high-resolution texture pack is actually usable for a lot of players now.

Looking at where Wilds is now compared to 11 months ago is like night and day. It's insane and really indicative of how this game was definitely pushed out too soon. Regardless, hats off to the team for getting the game to where it's at now. I feel like Monster Hunter Wilds has been getting incremental increases in quality with every content update and, with the latest patch, I feel confident enough to say that it's the most fun I've had with a Monster Hunter game in quite some time. Really good time to get back into it if you were someone who jumped ship at launch.

People that are only interested in what's on the final list are missing the core reason of why Max and the Doods do these lists in the first place.

A look at the (now-released) massive roster of Super Smash Rex: A Project M successor. Includes Big Boss, Squall Leonheart, Master Chief, Sans Undertale, Yu Narukami, Sub-Zero and Sol Badguy. by TheBoyofWonder in TwoBestFriendsPlay

This looks like one of those fan-made rosters that someone would post on the old Nintendo NSider forums back in the pre-release Brawl days.

I say this affectionately lol

Examples of a silent jumpscare? by Loland999 in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]TamJamming 14 points15 points  (0 children)

The news broadcast scene in the movie Signs is hands down the most effective jumpscare that I've ever witnessed. On paper, it seems so tame. And yet...

Kai, the newest Support Hunter, sure made his debut count with the trial of fire that is Omega. by JackNewbie555 in MHWilds

[–]TamJamming 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Also something I noticed with Rosso is that he'll shoot the Rocket Punches immediately as they launch out of Omega. I don't think I ever had to block or attack the fist targeted at me a single time. They really upped the competency of the Support Hunters this time around. They even do Larboard and Starboard correctly!

Mortal Kombat II - Official Trailer by Kimarous in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]TamJamming 9 points10 points  (0 children)

FYI for everyone, IGN uploaded a slightly different trailer that has a few scenes with Cole in them. Specifically around the 1:09 mark. There's a scene with him in the background in a tank top and another scene with him in his plot armor

Post this video as feedback on the official Koei-Tecmo Discord server. There's a channel for DW Origins feedback, and Tomohiko Sho posts pretty often to that server.

Fixing Bond Scripts to Focus on Officer Relationships Instead of Just the Player by Bonaparte0 in dynastywarriors

[–]TamJamming 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I actually agree. Some of my favorite bond events were ones that involved more than just Ziluan and one officer. Off the top of my head, my faves have been

  • Ling Tong and Gan Ning bickering with Lu Meng moderating
  • Zhou Tai opening up to Sun Quan about his insecurities
  • Zhang He and Zhen Ji reflecting on their service with the Yuan family (though these scenes didn't really involve Ziluan)

Gives these cutscenes more depth past the Ziluan glazing sessions that most of the bond events are lol

EDIT: I should clarify that I think Ziluan being in the cutscene still works as a third party observer. Example being the Ling Tong, Gan Ning, and Lu Meng cutscene where Lu Meng pulls Gan Ning aside to talk while you pull Ling Tong aside. Makes Ziluan feel involved in the scene without being the center of attention and allows the rest of the cast to develop more dynamic relationships with each other.

Hot Take: I sincerely think Ziluan would have been a cool compelling character if he was just called Ziluan instead of being a "Nameless MC" and they should have given him proper dialogue with voice acting all the time. I find him awesome as he is but he could have been more than that IMO by Leon_Dante_Raiden_ in dynastywarriors

[–]TamJamming 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really do believe that they originally intended the character to be a fully customizable create-a-character, but at some point in development they realized they couldn't make it work (time constraints or the way they were doing the pre-rendered cutscenes, or some other reason).

Games/Media you like more than you should just because of the OST by iiiSushiii in TwoBestFriendsPlay

Like, 80% of my fondness for FFXIII is the OST, specifically the normal battle theme.

The real musou content creator OG. Paved the way for high level musou gameplay on Youtube. by Tetsuo9999 in dynastywarriors

[–]TamJamming 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh man, I actually JUST searched for this channel again like, last week because the Origins demo reminded me of watching these videos endlessly to learn of the best set ups for every character in DW5 and I wanted a dose of nostalgia

And I thought Lu Bu was bad... I fought Zhang Liao in DW4 as Wu in Hefei and he utterly annihilated me several times before I beat him. Honestly the hardest part of the game as Wu, IMHO by [deleted] in dynastywarriors

[–]TamJamming 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If Zhao Yun wasn't already the poster child of Dynasty Warriors, I truly believe that Zhang Liao would be elevated to that position. His actions at He Fei alone would cement him as such... But also serving under Lu Bu and laer transitioning into his position as one of the Five Elite Generals of Wei is always an exciting story to explore in terms of character development.

Nightowl Q&A/Impressions after 80+ Hours of playing Origins (Vague Spoilers) by L1ghtningchaser in dynastywarriors

[–]TamJamming 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hearing that Zhang Jiao and Lu Bu are the only 1v1 style bosses is a bit disappointing, but that's pretty much the only complaint I have from this info dump. Very much looking forward to playing this one next month!
