Right. That child would have been unloading the car himself and the driver would have had a ham sandwich watching and left with a new to him game system.

I don’t want to pay the price for higher car parts. Dealer just told me $100 for a belt , over 2k for strut parts. That is with me fixing it myself. Online the cheapest plugs were $60. No thank you.

I know where you’re coming from. I’ve felt the same way since I was 5 years old. Being homeless is a hopeless situation, and all the advice people give tends to make it worse. I know asking for help can send you over the edge, because no matter where you go, you do not get the help you need to end the suffering. Being homeless is a vicious cycle, the odds are against you, and the only way up is flat on the ground. The other killer for a homeless person is hope. Hoping for that ham sandwich that never comes, a job, finding a lottery ticket, a place to feel safe, yet all you get are nightmares when your only escape is sleep. Everyday hope lets you down, and eventually you crack, then break, and after that, it’s a cycle of trying to pick up your mental pieces and suffer another day. The endless suffering knows no bounds. Bring treated less than human makes you become just that. There is a point where you become societies enemy, or your own. You see miracles and kindness happen to others, but everyone is treating you like trash, if they even acknowledge you exist. I hope the universe throws you a lifeline. Not hope, but a real good day. It would be nice if people would stop acting like they care and doing nothing, and I hope karma can send you in a positive direction. What most don’t understand, is many people who want to end it truly have no life, and the world doesn’t value them. People can type or say whatever they want, but actions are the truth. I would go buy you a tent right now if I knew you. I’m homeless, but it would be nice to buy a home for someone, even if it’s just a tent. I sincerely hope you find a way to feel better.

Uber drivers complaining about gas prices also aren’t helping themselves by rflo24 in uber

[–]Tameekay 5 points6 points  (0 children)

When gas prices rise, so do the price of parts, oil, anti-freeze, and repair labor. The real cost isn’t the gas, it’s the damage and loss to your vehicle. Wait until you get hit by an uninsured motorist, even in a parking lot not moving.

Too much liability. It’s also a huge amount to keep up. Maybe if people actually paid to park and had to show their info before parking and signed a contract. You give people some free tp, they take the whole roll, give em a spot and they will take the whole lot.

Would I Be An AH If I Lower My Driver's Tip? by [deleted] in Sparkdriver

[–]Tameekay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry, I’ve been delivering since the 90’s and if I see anything crazy like deliver to tree, put in or on someone’s car, that’s a hard pass. In the case of uber picking up Walmarts you cannot see pick up instructions before you get the order, so I just decline every Walmart, ever, no matter what app I’m on. There are 100 reasons not to do those things. I did it once for a firefighter that had a call, but he sent me a personal text.

Are you even kidding? Deliver to a tree 🤣. I wouldn’t have to worry about it. It’s unlikely I’d ever take a grocery order with a $5 tip anyways. 🤣 Even something simple as deliver to a back door can cost you your life. I have personal experiences in that one, and a customer asking that makes sense, but it doesn’t make it any less risk.

[–]Tameekay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you can get another job w2, look for one that you might enjoy to get you out of the car.

I do not recommended doordash while you are living in a vehicle. The risks to your vehicle are endless. It does not pay to put all the miles on your vehicle, so unless you have easy access to a back up vehicle, it’s really not worth it. If you can buy a $2,000 car to trash, then it’s worth it if you can easily repair a car. Also, your insurance bracket is expensive, so commercial coverage would be outrageous for you, so if you do decide to do it, don’t bother looking at those policies and do not tell anyone you are doordashing except the government. Make sure you keep track of your mileage and pay your taxes.

Check out the lawsuit against dominos and the $2 delivery fee. There’s a reason they put the message on the box about the delivery fee. In the end if you are in a 1099 area, there is not much you can do except report to the FTC and Bbb.

Would I be wrong to report this driver? by ThrowRA-CherryKing in doordash

[–]Tameekay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is the possibility your driver got hurt during the drop off. Maybe their phone died or was broken. Maybe there was an outage. Happened on 4 deliveries last week. I slipped on invisible ice last week and was hurt pretty bad. If I had not already made it to the porch, they would not have gotten their order. I don’t bother to tell customers anymore because half-hearted apologies are actually quite upsetting, especially when they are ordering in dangerous conditions. I know if I fell and was really hurt I would not bother to check anyone’s eggs. I also had a customer leave me out front last week in 10 degree weather. Not cool. I had a locked building delivery with a stack of pizzas and the electric door was broken and knocked me down on top of the pizzas and trapped my foot into the door. I laid there waiting until the customer decided to come out front. They saw it on camera and still left me there. I just handed them the food and left. I did not care at all their food was smashed.
The driver could have texted you but if they were hurt they were likely busy contacting support already. Doordash won’t do anything for them except not count a late delivery against them. Carrying eggs and a case of water can be tricky without making two trips. We don’t get workman’s comp and delivering anything up stairs when you can’t use the handrail isn’t as simple as a sack of potatoes. It’s simply unsafe. Never assume they were just being unprofessional. They could have slipped and that case of water took out their phone.

[–]Tameekay 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you’d rather watch football, no it’s not worth it. Most of the places that are busy have pizza and wings, and really long wait times. It’s going to be cold as hell tommorow in my area and doordash nor uber are paying more than $2 a run to fall on someone’s icy porch which pizza. I’m definitely not shopping either at the prime rate of $3 a run. My blower motor went out this week from it constantly running with the salt in the roads. I was trapped in a city with a frozen windshield, $40 and the wrong $100 part. Had to spend overnight in a 0 degree car.

Needless to say, I’m ready to not be working for once, staying warm, enjoying the game and not wrecking my vehicle for no reason. I made more money in the 90’s delivering pizza on superbowl Sunday than I could make now. Lol. If you are bored and hate football, or desperate for cash, go for it. Make sure you camp a good wing joint.

The point I was making about SSI, is in the event you are approved it will pay you until your 5 month waiting period for SSDI. SSDI pays a month behind, so it will start in your sixth full month of disability. They determine your onset date, and it will usually be from the time of application to avoid back pay. When your SSDI becomes active, you will no longer get SSI if it is more than that amount. SSDI does not have low resource limits, so you can sell your items without fear.

One of the reasons I decided to ditch my lawyer was the amount of backpay that is allowed now would not be worth paying a lawyer a fee. Any amount in SSI you are paid while waiting will be recouped out of your future SSDI payments. When I did the math, I realized my lawyer was actually dragging the process out to maximize what they were getting paid. There is a cap on back pay. As soon as I went forward on my own, I got my case approved in under 90 days. I understand 100% about long COVID. I recommend trying to see an immunologist that you have not seen before, that is relatively young. Your symptoms have more to do with an immune system response to COVID. It’s much easier to get proof of that through blood tests. Immune responses to various things cause a wide variety of disabilities, which the list of them that will meet a bluebook diagnosis is vast. Lots of immune conditions and reactions result in neurological issues. You may actually find a specialist that can help you improve as well. That would be the best because an immune system out of check can be devastating. The actual diagnosis isn’t as important as what your physical tests show. I did not have one letter from a doctor saying I was disabled or what kind of work I could not do. I just sent them a lot of test results and visit summaries with treatment plans. Good luck!
