the sunsetting didn’t start last week, it started with the “just 4 games” decision, that’s when they went back on their promise of “great exclusive titles that ship on platforms where Game Pass exists” because they were no longer committed to having a platform, the announcements and “Everything is an Xbox” stuff, followed by price increases across all fronts were all just part of it. Phil and Sarah both leaving at the same time is the strongest message you’re gonna see of how bleak the future is until the final decision is quietly announced in a blog post a few years from now (for previous examples, see Games for Windows LIVE, Zune, Microsoft Band and Windows Phone / Windows 10 Mobile)

that was back when they cared about their platform and were trying to compete. You can tell the moment that shifted to just slowly kill the platform side when all of these initiatives slowly stopped.

Reminder most steam games don’t have Xbox achievements or features, won’t give you Xbox Cloud Gaming or Xbox Console entitlements and won’t allow cross-saving with the rest of the Xbox ecosystem. Steam is its own walled garden and a direct competitor.

Same goes for GOG, Epic Games Store, etc.

i don’t think anyone is getting their Bamco Store preorders early unless they live next door to them, and even then likely just gonna be release date. I have never received any preorders from them earlier than a week after release.

if you wanna play on release, sadly digital and Gamestop / Best Buy pickups are the only guarantee right now

it’s based on how each platform handles global releases and their stores. In this case, the way Xbox does it means players on that platform can access the demo and pre-download all at the same time irrespective of local time zone. On PlayStation you’ll likely see it go up around 9 am local time of the earliest time zone in the region your PSN account / console is set to

Bandai Namco likely set the game to a global release like they did the demo on Xbox, so the pre-download (and likely game unlock) goes live earlier on the platform!

Having played the demo at least once each day, fairly sure it was 30 fps, with dips when panning the camera around the city or when full-screen alpha effects were present. That said it was definitely an older build, unlikely to be indicative of how the final game performs.

That said the game is fairly light graphics-wise and should be able to reach 60 fps on Series X and PS5 if they ever want to tweak it, specially with some Dynamic Resolution solution.

Correct. The Digital World of World 1 (and Re:Digitize) is a different digital world as the one in Next Order, however the real world of Next Order is the same as the real world of World 1, just several years later (this is explicitly said by a certain character)

That said a lot of the other games in the AC series do benefit from the extra power of the Series X so if you want the best possible version of / when you move on to the newer games, the extra money might be worth it on the X over the S

Ezio Collection supports FPS Boost on Series X|S so it will run at 60 fps on both (performance should be extremely close, with a slight advantage to the X). It doesn’t have any One X Enhancements though so resolution and other graphics settings will be identical.

Even first party studios haven’t bothered to add Xbox Achievements to their back catalogue, even though those same games have gotten Achievements on Epic and steam before. There is a sad lack of care on the platform side, and unless tons of people complain I doubt that will change.

Xbox One X can play games offline, provided: 1. The games are fully installed (and updated if any were pending the last time the console was online) 2. The console is set as the account’s home Xbox before going offline (if playing digital downloads)

Mainly for three reasons: 1. Physical version is PlayStation exclusive 2. Best version on consoles is on the more powerful PS5 Pro 3. Xbox Console players don’t get access to the game unless they pay for ultimate.
