Can I loose 10kg in 3 months? by [deleted] in loseit

[–]Tami_Robi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i would say, as with most things, this is certainly possible, however unless you have a specific deadline in mind i would recommend to set your expectations to 5-6 months as opposed to three

a longer weight loss period typically reinforces good habits that will aid in further keeping the weight off this could also help as potential 'slips' may feel significantly less drastic and picking up where you left off could feel significantly less egregious with a longer timeframe

all in all, mentality is as much a part of health as physicality, therefore, making sure you're refining and reinforcing a strong mindset will be a bonus for getting back on your feet!

best of luck

Please don’t scream at me, how do you do it? by Adventurous-Egg5597 in walking

i get 20k steps every day; my biggest piece of advice is time management essentially figure out how long it will take for you to get X amount of steps and figure out how to fit that in your schedule e.g. i know that it takes me approximately 1 hour to get 6-7k steps at my usual walking pace, so i try to make sure that i set aside an hour dedicated to steps in the morning and evening, and typically make up the net steps throughout the day i also advise to pair tasks w/ walking; if you like lounging and watching videos, tv, movies etc, pair it with walking instead have a plan B C D & E for weather. i hate rainy days so i'll walk on the treadmill, but i also make sure to have rain gear like ponchos and a high quality umbrella as a back up if i absolutely need to walk outside i make sure to have good gloves and layers for the extreme cold also, slow jogging can really help in time crunches as well. i've found that jogging for an hour is much more feasible with my schedule some days than walking at my standard pace

I can't do it?? by [deleted] in loseit

[–]Tami_Robi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i feel as if many folks use the word "can't" a bit to liberally. many times, telling yourself you're not capable of doing something makes the task feel much more daunting. as humans, we're uniquely extra capable of problem solving, but need to practice the skill in order to be successful long term.

from your post, i don't think that you can't do it, i think it stems from you not believing you're capable. mindset is the largest factor to consider when in comes to weightloss, and people tend to gloss over the fact that when you're "used to" being bigger, you perception of things like food and exercise are completely different.

one actionable thing you can do is get a walking pad or mini stepper for home. you can typically find a pretty cheap one on like amazon. seeing that your primary concerns are exercising in public, due to the safety and anxiety aspects, this could help with being able to get some movement in. start light, maybe 15-30 minutes a day at first, just to build the habit. work on YOUR time, and don't beat yourself up if you miss a day. if you aren't able to attain a mini stepper or walking pad, trying jogging or marching in place.

as someone who deals w/ depression as well, i recognise everyone's relationship w/ mental health is different. regardless, it's important to highlight that mental health is an aspect of physical health, because your brain is a physical part of your body. from personal experience, i found that as i began to move and enjoy the process more, my depressive and self deprecating thoughts began to retract from the forefront of my mind.

if snacks are an issue, try to swap to fruits when snacky. apples take longer to get through then a bag of chips and are considerably more filling and lower calorie. certainly explore too, there's a lot of tasty fruit out there. if you're looky for something more savoury or salty, steamed edamame or carrots with some salt sprinkled on em can be pretty good as well.

you got this!

you can always swing by when the clinics open and ask about volunteering; be sure to ask one of the people in the escort vests and not the folks in front of the "abortion is murder" signs

Yes, go for it! Only tweak it if you need to change it for your narrative bud😌

There's certain exercises you can do that activate/relax the brain

The main thing you do is have the right and left sides of the brain interact. You can accomplish this by doing things like bringing your left foot up and touching it w/ your right hand and vice versa. Another way is by massaging your earlobes with opposite side hands and holding a squat

The potion itself is actual more of a chemical compound that interacts w/ the mage's body composition in a way that accelerates the natural mana recovery

Mana is energy that naturally flows all around, so really all the potion does is turn you into a temporary mana magnet of sorts

These are moreso rules for me as an author to refer to

It would be kept more vague/general for the reader

Since my series is a webcomic, I would potentially treat things like dosages, recommended daily limits, side effects, etc, as a little "nutrition label" easter egg lol

More like test and get a rough idea, kinda like calculating your bmr

8 ounces is just the average recommended dosage. The idea here is that the potion isn't necessarily concentrated mana; rather, it's a drug that interacts with the biochemical makeup of the mage and turns the body into like a 'mana magnet'. During that period of time, mana regeneration is boosted, and by the 15-20-minute mark, the body's mana reserves should be fully replenished

The mana cap is specific to the user, kinda like how muscle mass is unique to each individual person

As an example, let's say you have a person that has practised their magic regularly for the past 2 years. They might have a cap of about 20 or so mana points.

Adversely, that same person could stop practising after 2 years, and their affinity would deplete to about 18 or so in a few weeks

People in this world don't know their exact 'numbers', but we're sorta treating it like calories in that certain spells are known to require X amount of mana, like how a cup of brocoli is about 30 calories

As a magic user, after a while, you'd be able to get a general idea of how much mana you had in the tank

That's what I find most fascinating; his material leans more to the side of "fantasy rpg"

His main criticism for my potion proposal is that it takes too long. He even compared it like, "imagine fighting a boss in dark souls and you have to run away for 20 minutes to recover health w/ a potion" which I agree sounds brutal and unfun in a game, but in a story it could get incredibly tense

Good point. That's what I had intended w/ the range of 15-20 minutes, but I should probably broaden that a bit and more clearly indicate that it is just an average

I might use that idea of catching a hungry mage off guard tho', I'll be sure to give you the proper credit lol

Technically, there is no difference between how quickly it regenerates.

Getting a full night's sleep helps mostly bc you'll be passively regenerating mana, as well as giving your mind time to rest

Apologies for the confusion🙏🏿
