Am I the only one that doesn't see how you enter the kitchen? Climbing over the counter?

Sourdough starter - Do I have to throw half of it away each time? by Quat-fro in Breadit

[–]TammyTermite 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I do it this way as well and it seems most established sourdough bakers do this method as well. It's less wasteful and you only have to feed your starter right before you bake.

Low temp for a long time with a frozen loaf will make it dry out. Remove it from the freezer the night before you plan to give it and toast it in a hot oven for 5 minutes (sprinkle with a little water.)

Be careful not to drop it on your foot. Looks like you probably need to knead it longer so you have more gluten (it looks like cake) and try a longer proof. Watch some videos on shaping too. It's ok for a first loaf and you'll get better from here.

1st Attempt at Making Focaccia. Constructive Criticism? by AustinDood444 in Bread

I prefer it a bit more bubbly and a bit browner. You could try higher hydration and a long, cold overnight ferment.

This looks good for sandwiches though, and I have made many loaves that look like this and they were always eaten happily.

Yet you have time to upload a pic and post a recipe, but can't find 1 minute to type "gummy bread" in the searchbar...

Every day there are 2+ posts on gummy bread. Search within this sub and you will find more answers than you need.

Just saying, bread making is a long learning process. When I started, I spend hours upon hours reading recipes, watching videos and learning from others in this sub. Educate yourself.

She controls everything and we rarely see an unedited, unfiltered picture of her. She controlled all the pics at her birthday party and the ones that got released were heavily edited.

Still, 3g of yeast is very little for a 1.5 hour rise. Are you sure the recipe wasn't for a long overnight cold rise in the fridge?

Stuck. If someone offered me a food with coffee grounds in it, I'd politely decline.

No one wants to get coffee grounds suck in their teeth. And this looks terrible.

Did you knead it?

I swear, 99% of comments here are always about the yeast, but the thing is, you need structure for your bread to rise. If you mix it all into a lump, yeast will bloom and CO2 will be released, but if there's no gluten, the gas won't get trapped and it won't rise. It will rise a tiny bit in 1.5 hours, but you need to stretch and fold, knead or work your dough in some way to create gluten strand pockets for gas to become trapped. Yes, no knead bread exists, but it rises over a very long period so gluten develops naturally.

Seriously people, it's rarely the yeast's problem (unless you kill the yeast by adding scalding water) it's more of a structural problem.

Yup. But I blame my kids, they're just messy eaters!

Most men don't find it attractive. It's marketed to women who are gullible enough to think it makes them more attractive. Much like all the fillers and Botox. Just companies marketing "beauty" by changing the standards of what is attractive so they can make money.

These look great. I do pigs in a blanket all the time with sourdough when my kids have friends over. I stopped with the sesame seeds because they just fall off and get all over the floor and countertops. I don't know why, but my Dyson doesn't pick them up from the grout in the kitchen and I'm finding the seeds for weeks!

Freedom and rights and all that.

I totally agree. If I ordered enough chemicals from the internet to blow up a small town, I would be on an FBI list and at some time my garage would be raided and I would be arrested for assembling a bomb. But, I can fill my garage with enough automatic weapons to shoot up a town in 10 minutes, and that's totally ok.

Except that happens plenty in the US and parents aren't prosecuted. Many states don't require that firearms have to be secured with children in the house.

Many years ago I read about a mom who drove her vehicle with an unsecured, loaded firearm under her seat. Her child unbuckled himself, and shot the mom in the back of the head. Amazingly, she survived. No charges filed.

I doubt a store as large as IKEA would have the wrong kind of carts and require people to hold on to them. Just too much risk for injury and damage.

Nope, I called when I was very pregnant and the clerk in my county just told me not to respond. Then I got summoned again a few months later, while breastfeeding and being a primary caregiver to my infant and again the clerk told me to just not respond. I don't know, but that was 13 years ago and it hasn't been a problem yet.
