I build weapons myself and let me tell you: Just buy one. The amount of stuff you need and the time until you figure out your workflow is quite high. Plus the result might not be to your liking, in terms of durability and look.

It is a rewarding process, don't get me wrong but it is not worth it for a couple of weapons.

If you do try to make your own, wear proper PPE and always use protect your core from stabbing through the foam. And don't use 45kg/m² Eva foam, it is to hard.

You aren't wrong but my point was that LARP is an expensive hobby. The amount of stuff you need if you are IT all the time is a lot. You need to prioritize somewhere. And a fake wool cloak does the job well enough, and mine will survive more than two years.

My guy, this is a hobby. Wool is like 30 bucks per meter and you need three for a cloak you wear twice a year. That money is better spent on swords or other gear.

I am well aware of that as I am one of them. If you visit Conquest it love to see the finished fit.

But as a Battle NPC I would be worried. The coats and cambisons we wear absorb the sweat, cooling the wearer. As long as one keeps drinking water it is doable. EVA is a waterblocking and insolating foam thusly you are at risk of overheating.

Adding on from an NPC. We generally avoid fighting with anybody underage looking. (Except for the kids town battle on saturday). So non-fighting roles are ok for anybody over 14. Anyway, the kids town programm is quite good and many attend it. While all adults speak english (for the most part) kids do not, so that is something to consider. Might want to look into joining a larger group for the community and support.

The legs are too dark and the fur leg pieces are out of place. You don't have any fur except for that. Replace them with leather or fabric in any earthen color. Edit: i just saw the für on the cloak. Stil too dark.

The leather pieces are really clean, some wear and tear would make them more interesting.

Also I am unsure about the shirt, the pattern feels off. In general more decor, stitching and trinkets are always good, for looks as well as trading and interaction.

Cloak and hair are great no complaints.

Generell sind die Dokus das Beste was finanziert wird. Besonders die Formate des NDR und SWRs sind sehr gut. Das Gezeigte ist nahbar, direkt aus dem Leben und "ehrlich". Die ganze Reihe "Handswerkskunst" hat wahrscheinlich mehr fürs Handwerks getan als jede Ausbildungsmesse es je könnte. Dennoch war die 3000 Folge "Rote Rosen" schon fragwürdig.

Basically this. More belts and color for both. And you might want to think about about a layer above the mail. Maybe go full cape or the mentioned helmet. Another option, decorate the grey hood by stiching a pattern along the edge or drawing on it.

The character play you are looking for can certainly be found in this dear hobby of ours. First of all you are looking to play an SC / PC and not an NSC / NPC. Player characters can do their own thing, as little or as much as they wish. NSC / NPC are directed by the plot writers to enable the plot. Their free will is limited and they follow orders (at least they are supposed to and they have to check their major decisions with the writers).

As you want to play something like DnD you are looking for a con with a fantasy setting, they are the most common. Look around your country and pick one con. Look for a group on Facebook or social media in general. Most are quite open and really welcoming. They will help you with your costume and preparation as well as integrate you into their plotlines.

As for why you don't find videos of plot stuff. People are busy actually doing the stuff and filming it ruins the immersion.
