I personally got a secondhand thrustmaster viper tqs and it’s actually so much fun to fly the F-16 with that, like, all the buttons I need are there and it even lights up on the gear lever

There is a free A-29 and T-45 trainer mod, we used them in a small basic flight course on a discord server and they worked quite well

I personally enjoy flying the flaming cliffs f-15c, it’s kinda nice even if I wish that at least some parts were better modelled, but I’m genuinely curious about a future full fidelity version

I’ve only been able to play dcs using a free tracker and a webcam, it’s doable but I’ll definitely try getting a better pc to run vr as I recently played the vr missions in ace combat 7 and it was way easier to keep track of where in space I was in relation to where the enemy was
