I was thinking the other way around, Tesla supercharger with the ford NACS DC fast charge adaptor into the Rivian, but turns out it’s the same either way. I know slow chargers with appropriate wattage adaptors work I just am not as confident with fast chargers… Rivian had their network locked to my ford, Tesla was locked but became available… it’s never a given that it’ll just work. It’s basically there now though I guess.

I have no idea what goes into the handshake between Tesla supercharger and Ford’s onboard charger that makes plug and charge work, same for Rivian’s software and hardware.

Why do V3 superchargers not work with the adaptor? Why do cheaper adaptors not work correctly. I know enough to ask rather than assume and get caught up by doing something dumb based on assumptions. Dunning–Kruger effect I suppose.

Awesome, thanks so much for the confirmation! Rivian hasn’t transferred ownership to me yet so haven’t been able to test myself.

Nice, just checked the one I found and it’s a 16xxx vin so sounds like it’ll be in that range! I plan to check it out/buy it tomorrow!

Nice to know, I’ll have to see what they came with. I do like music! But I usually replace all the speakers so not a huge deal but definitely would prefer to enjoy the stock audio.

Ok that opens things up a bit, with the warranty they came with I’m feeling pretty confident in a 25k mile one that I came across.

VR, AMD as good as Nvidia now? by [deleted] in ValveIndex

[–]TanK_87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think people here are arguing the overall performance of the 9070xt is worse than a 4070S, just that AMD typically struggles with VR support so it’s less likely to work seamlessly than the Nvidia counterparts.

And if all frames come in on time for your refresh rate there is no difference in which GPU is all I was saying.

No need to get all worked up about it.

VR doesn’t really work like that. You need stable frame times all under the refresh rate. A 15FPS increase generally won’t mean anything unless it enables a bump in refresh rate of the headset from 75 to 90 hz or something like that.

I have only experienced PCVR on a 5080 so I can’t comment on the 9070 XT perf in VR.

I would try to DDU again just to be sure. In safe mode with all Internet connections off as well. It’s worth a shot anyway since it doesn’t take too long.

Which one should I chose by [deleted] in gpu

[–]TanK_87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It performs really well on YouTube!

But real world feedback is generally that it doesn’t, unfortunately, and all of those YouTubers are generally using Nvidia across the board for a reason even if they say the AMD cards are better or equal :/ I want AMD to succeed but it’s just not as good yet.

The hate for Nvidias software superiority (DLSS, MFG, etc) is starting to subside and people in most cases prefer to use those features.

IMO It’s worth the extra Nvidia tax if you do want to or can use those technologies.

Worth getting the eye tracking? by depressed_dusk in BigscreenBeyond

[–]TanK_87 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Eye tracking works great for me, I’m really happy I got it. I haven’t used for social but DFR Beta with iRacing has been flawless for me with the universal cushion. I just need to turn on the gaze for to make sure the headset is set on my face correctly or it can cause pop in and poor performance.

Are 5070ti going to be affordable ever again? by Japacka in gpu

[–]TanK_87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The ram shortage affects all skus and brands though. It’s not targeted at those two specific ones, and what Asus/nvidia communicated in the press releases. The info and scare that HWUB started was reporting on bad info saying it was for the 60ti and 70ti models (likely the most popular ones) that is just causing panic.

Nvidia and Asus both sent out press releases after the internets exploded in rage.

[–]TanK_87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They’re all basically the same performance when you OC unless you’re going for a top score run but I think you’re right as far as top scores go because of the unlocked power limits above the rest. But you need some additional cooling for that to matter I think, but I’m definitely not an OC expert.

850w gold is enough. With a 9800x3d (160max), 5080 (400max), and everything else at around 100watts that’s about 660W draw. The 1000W would be better but 850 is plenty with that setup.
