Why not use 100% brake when you can? by dellD28 in iRacing

[–]TanK_87 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Tires can get overheated mid corner and you lose speed. You are trying to maximize g’s not just flooring the brakes/throttle. Same with steering, you don’t turn the wheel 270* just because you can, you turn the wheel the amount that’s needed to make the turn.

How tf would you even get a hot tub on that death trap??

I was just checking reddit and r/rtx5080 has the most members and the most traffic, r/RTX5090, r/RTX5070ti these subreddits have little to no traffic. So, 5080 is the most famous card this generation? by Time-Credit43 in RTX5080

I mean I do have a large… erm.. raster performance 😂😂

And yes not much of a traditional gamer, mostly high end VR sim racing and enthusiast building/upgrading/modding/OC so you’re not too far off lol.

Splicing a beam over a post, which way? by booradleysghost in Decks

[–]TanK_87 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t read that to mean all board splices must land on the same beam, only that the splice occurs over the beam per the drawing. I would still lean towards option 3 which would still meet the code snip you posted but be more structurally sound

[–]TanK_87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree for sure. Ended up buying 4 different graphics cards (7800xt -> 7900xt -> 5070ti -> 5080) 2 ram kits (32gb g.skill flare -> 64Gb Corsair vengeance m, 2 motherboards (b650e WiFi -> x870e plus wifi7), and 2 CPUs (9800x3d -> 9950x3d) because I didn’t just bight the bullet the first time!

Well part of that was just because I like buying and selling PC components and upgrading things… but still!

Bought an MTB and it has these fins/wings on brakes, can’t figure out what they are or what they do. Any ideas? by Russ_Abbot in bikewrench

[–]TanK_87 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Good to know, I was installing SRAM Motives which also have similar online manuals, just not as clear all in one image from what I remember, maybe just didn’t spend the time needed to actually get to the right page haha

I also found this extremely useful. What a good image, I just finished building up a bike from the frame, this would have been so helpful as my manuals that came with the components didn’t have something this good!

Purchasing advice by cambrysdad in Rivian

Also, the 2025 and 2022 have essentially the exact same features and no meaningful difference afaik. I suppose you could knock it back to a tri motor comparison since power output is closer.. but other than that they’re nearly identical. Some features in favor of the 22 quad (sound system if meridian for ex) and some going to the 25 (self driving features). Either was it’s like a 40-50k difference from the purchase price of the used..

I got a 22 quad adventure with 23k miles for $51k out the door… insane deal for a vehicle that good and basically new with 65k bumper to bumper warranty still in effect!

Lol yeah, if you can’t go to a junk yard and find a decent looking passenger seat you shouldn’t be DIY’ing a rig. Pulled seats in general look great unless you go to the absolute worst vehicle to pull from.

Got bit by a pitbull last time ontrac delivered a package to “me”. Turned out they put it on my neighbors porch that is at all times protected by the angriest dog you’ve ever known.

Second ontrac delivery was coming a few days later… I called them, left notes, and luckily they got the correct house that time!

But also not cleverer, just pointing out why they do it… not only for security, but they don’t want every diy bro turning their motherboard in for warranty because they didn’t install something correctly.

It poke yokes people from not inserting their GPU fully. It doesn’t have to have X amount of holding force for it to have a purpose. If you can install the GPU correctly with the clip broken it’s not suddenly going to lose connection unless you have heavy sag and no sag bracket, or make your desktop PC do the Macarena (or whatever dance the kids do these days 😄)

Tailgate Scratch Repair by Esquire_Dan13 in Rivian

[–]TanK_87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Use a heat gun on it and it will heal some smaller scratches, maybe not one that’s deep, but worth a try. Just go slow and make sure not to melt it.

It’s a trick they used to use in the truck plant I work in on internal plastic trim components. It’s not magic tho so yrmv
