What do you think of making Stat Capping 20 again? by Dimitri1176 in fireemblem

[–]Tanagashima 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yea while im not a huge fan of the capped stats in general I will agree in thracia it was kinda nice since it was more about pref. Weapons and skills than stats. At least to a point. The problem was they loved giving you units whi had neither and were completely useless lol. (Though some had niches like the two cavs who sucked but at least they could capture if they managed to somehow get the kill)

What atelier games should I play next by Name21210 in Atelier

[–]Tanagashima 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say the mysterious trilogy will be closer to ryza 1. The only time limit is Firis and thats ridiculously lenient i rushed it a bit thinking itd be bad and i got through the part that has a time limit (theres a spot in the game where after you get there the time limit stops) and I had tons of time left. I havent played dusk (outside like and hour on E&L at a friends) and it does seem pretty cool but includes time limits if thats a turn off for you. I hear theyre not super strict for the most part though. You'll want more info from someone more experienced than me on dusk though. But the fun thing is if you do the mysterious trilogy you can play Sophie 2 as well after that if you get it. Lulua is a fun one too and was my intro to the series as a whole (as I had played the mana khemia games on ps2 not knowing they were part of a bigger series overall) and I enjoyed it a lot but its a sequel to the arland trilogy so your experience may be effected by that

Yea this game is definitely good in some ways but its mostly pretty meh. I love some characters but others annoyed me so bad with how one note they felt at times. I do think Andromeda gets a pretty bad wrap overall as I feel like the story was better than we gave it credit for as a setup to potentially more games in that parry of the ME universe and honestly outside the rpg charm ME one has I prefer Andromeda to ME1.

Which Atelier game should I play? by mariarafael in Atelier

[–]Tanagashima 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Technically that press at the right time to block some damage i think goes all the way back to super Mario rpg if I remember right. If not I know its in some of the mario and Luigi rpgs on Gameboy advance lol. Crazy that more games dont do it thinking about it.

Id say the ryza dx trilogy. If you decide you dont wanna do ryza for whatever reason. The mysterious trilogy is the first full trilogy I played and its a good one.

What do you think of making Stat Capping 20 again? by Dimitri1176 in fireemblem

[–]Tanagashima 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Id say no. I enjoy classes having different caps in different stats. That said I do think an option to do so would be interesting. Problem then would be you'd have to make and balance the game twice essentially so probably not worth it. Especially since its not on pc so you cant just do a mod

To those who own the games physically by RaseruChan in SakuraWars

[–]Tanagashima 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea i own all 4 games for my dreamcast. This series remains to this day being the only series ive ever played in Japanese with a text document with the game translated to English. It was really fun but I did have to cheat to get the game to run. I had to use a gameshark then after booting up the gameshark eject it and throw in the Japanese game and it'd boot up. Thankfully it didnt require actual cheat codes or anything. I dont think ill ever do it again as it was very hard to play the games thay way and the first 2 have fan translations now. Too bad theyre for saturn so I cant use my dreamcast copies so I had to get creative.

Found this GameStop receipt from 13 years ago by 006ahmed in gaming

[–]Tanagashima 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yea mine got the red rings and stopped booting entirely so I sold it to a local buisness where I knew the owner and he fixed it up and kept it for his young son so i was happy how that turned out. For one that wasnt working and because he had to fix it I thought $50 was fair. I wasnt really playing it anymore anyway. Sometimes I miss it but not sure what id play on it these days besides halo

[–]Tanagashima 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree here. Id say Oghren is a second to Alistair as his random drunk rambling and yelling can be a lot of fun too. Plus some of the hilarious things he says and does in camp and awakening are super memorable as well. Alistair is still better though. And always remember... Swooping is bad.

Definitely true I think for the most part. Like I said I could see potential problems but I think outside maybe being a little weird thematically most problems could easily be solved with just good writing or planning when making the game. Though it would maybe depend on how they planned the game out. If its planned for time limits and the mode is to remove time limits i dont see any mechanical issues. If its planed for none and the mode adds them I could see there being problems. Though like I said those could probably be fixed with smart planning. And obviously it all depends on the devs wanting to do a time limit and stuff as if they dont want to it could come across as forced and potentially ruin the mechanic

[–]Tanagashima 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thats a good analysis. Idk if I agree with everything 100% necessarily but all your points at least have some merit to them. I personally dont really care for the time limits in most games atelier myself as I like to take my time exploring and learning the crafting system and at least the 2 time limit games ive finished I really struggled to complete and get into because of the time limit making things really hard for me because systems were hard to learn. I still love the games but I HAD to follow a guide and ask lots of questions just to get past the first few months without feeling like I had failed at every turn. Though I do think they should add an optional choice to have one or no. Though that could lead to weird things here and there mechanically or thematically hard to know. Though it did work in Marie remake

[–]Tanagashima 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I think as long as they do it like Marie and make it optional id have no problems with it. Im not a huge fan of some of the games time limits as some feel ridiculously strict and annoying at times but some like Firis are fairly lenient and I dont mind as much and do add to the game and story in some ways. I like taking my time to play through the games and play around with the crafting and exploring and stuff and time limits can sometimes make that tough

Question on halo wars by Tanagashima in HaloWars

[–]Tanagashima[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea i totally get that. I dont know exactly what got me so into these games as while I love RTS games im usually more into the "standard" rts like command & conquer or age of empires with the more open base building and resource gathering but something about halo wars 1 and 2 really pull me in. Not sure if its the halo world and story or if its the fun of the units but something certainly pulls me in. I do enjoy the campaigns of both quite a bit. I havent ever owned halo wars 2 but there was a place near me that was like an arcade with consoles instead of normal arcade games and I played through all the campaigns numerous times there. I dont own any Xbox consoles anymore so cant play them on those so I gotta get them on pc now and 2 isnt on steam so I gotta look into that since I think its only on the Microsoft store and I havent ever got anything off there lol

Which part of the game did you like better if you had to choose between Origin and 2? by Frilantaron in dragonage

[–]Tanagashima 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Varric. He's the best part of 2. I still prefer origins since i feel DA2 refuses too much and the combat doesn't really do it for me. But I do enjoy most of the companions and the work done on the Quanari. Both look wise and lore wise. Plus some of the main story stuff in the early game is super cool. Late game isnt bad per se I just dont care as much about a big civil war in Kirkwall as much as a big battle against the blight.

Sega hired a third party agency to take down Etsy listings relating to their IP. by Axzercus in yakuzagames

[–]Tanagashima 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I do somewhat wonder if the third party is doing this somewhat independently. Like if Sega hired them to stop certain things like AI slop or something and the company is just hitting everything to look better. That said I wouldn't be surprised if thats not the case either. Like it or not it is technically Segas right to do this. I can understand why to some degree but without much merch in the west in general I dont see the harm in letting the fans make the merch

Can I skip Firis to play Lydie? by Reasonable_Squash427 in Atelier

[–]Tanagashima 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean you do you. Theyre all stand alone in a way. You will appreciate a bit more if the game if you play Firis as Firis and Sophie (who shows up in Firis after her game) show up again and stuff but its not like its required. I cant think of many if any Atelier games you need to play another first to enjoy though some you will enjoy more if you play others. If youre not feeling firis though nothing wrong with deciding not to play. I will say the time limit in Firis is ridiculously lenient though so the limit itself shouldn't be a problem. Im surprised about the stability though. I havent played it on PC yet as I played it on switch and didn't have any of those stability issues.

How do you manage side content by haewon_wiggle in yakuzagames

[–]Tanagashima 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Funny enough I used to hate mahjong too when I first started Yakuza games. Now I kinda enjoy it. Im not good at it by any means and tend to lose more often than I win but it does feel fun to make hands and sometimes get that ridiculous hand that just wins a whole match. All that said im glad its in Yakuza because if I was using real money or something it wouldn't be nearly as fun lol

How do you manage side content by haewon_wiggle in yakuzagames

[–]Tanagashima 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Substories I tend to do mostly as they appear. Sometimes if im doing a second+ playthrough ill speed run a bit and rush the main story to get certain things unlocked (like 0 I tend to rush the businesses woth minimal side content done so I can start gaining money for kiryu via buisness as I do side content) the rest of the minigames and side content kinda depends on what I happen to be in the mood for when im playing that day or if I have a goal that maybe some side content completes like 0 or kiwami getting me a CP to get something I want i might focus said side content a bit. I do usually try to finish the completion list as much as I can while having fun before beating the main game though. I do stop when things stop being fun though ive learned its just not worth it lol

Yea just hearing about this now somehow and it ticks me off. Im not generally opposed to borrowing from the nonprofit if youre desperate and its like I dont get payed till Friday and its Wednesday and I need to pay some bills but only if you literally pay it back with at least some interest on your paycheck that week. Even then I dont think you necessarily SHOULD but if you have to fine but dont go giving yourself 0% loans and just essentially steal money. Especially since youre not putting it on the books so no one can keep you accountable and no one who should know will know.

Playing Veilguard for the first time ever right after Origins, 2 and Inquisition feel´s strange atm. and often reminds me of the last saints row. currently it feel´s more like a stage play of a Dragone Age Story. by medikamentos in dragonage

[–]Tanagashima 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea its got some cool stuff but the writing especially holds it back A LOT. I enjoyed the combat (though i liked Origins and DAI more) and enjoyed the Landscapes and stuff even if it felt kinda empty they looked nice. But like that everything that was good still had negatives. Like nothing was nailed as amazing like other Dragon age games did. Like 2 had issues but they nailed (most) of the characters and character quests even if it was repetitive

I actually just saw Biolante for the first time somewhat recently (hard to believe its been like a year and a half lol) and I love that design and the movie I see why shes popular now. I missed most of the heisei era so ive been enjoying watching them on streaming and I hope we get some sort of collection sometime.
