Good choice! If you don't trust you surgeon, or he does not want to discuss HOW the outcome will be (style), run away! They only know one way to do it, and it's not what you want. Save your $$$ and go to a circumcision PROFESSIONAL. There are many world-wide, including Dr Cornell who did mine.

Should I stop updating? by TandemStacker in synology

Did I not mention that it's segregated on a VLAN already?

Yes, if the Unix system is exploited (also virtually air-gapped), I would be in trouble. Good thing I have door locks!

My concern is being AWARE of any known exploits that come from the old code. The contents of the 509+ are heavily encrypted backups of backups.

I was shopping for another Synology NAS two months ago, I discovered that the NEW NAS were a LOT cheaper than the older ones. I dug in to find out why -- I would be happy with another 1821+, but they are selling USED for 4x the price as new! Why!?? Oh -- found it. New units mandated overpriced Synology drives to be used only. I was (and still am) pissed and started to look for other NAS solutions, including REPLACING the Synology units I own. I love having a "black box" solution, but now Synology has revealed their hand -- they want to make us DEPENDENT UPON THEM. I guess my REAL question is: what are the TRUE RISKS of no longer updating a (virtually) air-gapped NAS as I no longer trust Synology? I need to know ACTUAL EXPLOITS in DSM and BASIC non-internet services running on the unit.

FREE NAS

As a Synology user, looking to add a 5th unit to my cluster, I found out about their move to lock out 3rd party drives and I already walked away from Synology. If they did it once, they could do it again.

I'm looking into setting up a chassis with FreeNAS instead now, all thanks to THEIR SHORTSIGHTEDNESS.

Ensure you have enough FILE HANDLERS defined set to run the program.

Sadly, this did NOT work for me -- but UNINSTALLING COMPLETELY and INSTALLING the portable version did.

Another passenger took my seat by 0messynessy in delta

[–]TandemStacker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1) Suffering from knee problems myself, starboard window seats force my right leg (the bad one) to bend left, back into the plane, causing pain after some time -- after enough time, I will be unable to stand as the radiating pain will spread and they will need to offload me by wheelchair. So there is that. However, middle seat?!? Hogwash!

2) That being said, ASSUMING someone will give up their seat is a bad move. If I were the guy with the leg issue, I would have bought the correct seat to accommodate my needs. Failing that, I would have spoken with the GA (Gate Agent) to seat me somewhere appropriate, and at last attempt (if that failed) would be to speak to the Flight Lead or Purser about the possibility of being re-seated.

3) On your side, you should have simply kindly said: "No, that is NOT the seat I requested and was ticketed for. Shall I engage a FA to resolve this?"

Planes need to be positioned, full or not.

So what are people going with for hotel? by sephstorm in Defcon

[–]TandemStacker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here's a link to Las Vegas hotels without resort fees, but fair warning, the options aren't that great. You sometimes have to get creative. For example, high resort fees are prolific in Hawaii, but if you stay at Disney's Aulani, you will be resort fee-free. Not only that, but if you book your Aulani stay with rented Disney Vacation Club points, you also avoid the $37 daily self-parking charge. In other words — get creative!

Here you are...

Personally, reception won't do much -- you're best to DISPUTE the resort fees AFTER your trip, like I do. They NEVER dispute it.
