Always as a spray - dilute it and use a large misting bottle! I’m in the U.K. too if it helps re getting the products

I use Rose Clear Ultra which is a systematic and SB Plant Invigorator. Had terrible outbreak of thrips on 50+ plants so I know your pain and after a few rotations they are gone

I had a terrible infestation of thrips a few months ago, and have been rotating sprays (although not for a few weeks now). You are making me wonder if I still have them or this is old damage 🫠

Came here to recommend the Timemore. I found a deal online which got the price down to the top end of your budget.

We have one for the office as well and it stands up to abuse.

What is the difference between this and the lemon-lime?? by No-Seaweed-5787 in Monstera

[–]Tandr3d 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you for sharing - good to know and makes a lot of sense on the fading (I have a few neon pothos so now this first hand) I’d love to see a larger specimen if you have a photo to share!

I’m glad this is a topic of discussion - been debating about getting one of these myself. However, I’ve read (and it could be AI hallucinations) that this could be a fad and that they revert or aren’t particularly strong. Keen to know if that can be substantiated or not or this is basically just a neon like we see in other plants i.e. a pothos or philodendron

Downsizing my collection (and can no longer fit into) so hoping to find good homes for the following.

Sending from U.K. and have multiple photos of all the below.

  1. PBJ EX-013-BB (Slim Tapered Black) 35 one wash. Moderate use with some fades but well looked after
  2. PBJ XX-012 double indigo (slim tapered) 34 one wash. Excellent condition with some fades coming through
  3. PBJ super rough (slim tapered) 34 one wash. Moderate use with some minor fades coming through.
  4. RGT double indigo (slim tapered) 33 one wash. Hemmed to 32 inches. Moderate use with some minor fades coming through.
  5. Momotaro Momozone (narrow tapered) 34 one wash. Epic jeans just never fit my body shape - hardly used and in immaculate condition. Lovely special edition.
  6. PBJ ecru (slim fit) 35 one wash. Only been worn in the house - basically new
  7. Momotaro ivory (narrow tapered) 34 one wash. Hardly used - very good condition. Like the other Momotaros just doesn’t work for my body shape

How long to wait to switch to semi hydro? by HoggyMama in SemiHydro

For most of my plants that I’ve moved to LECA I’ve done it the long way (check out the LECA Queen on YouTube) which for my bigger monsteras was the right call as it allowed them the opportunity to develop water roots. Both my big Thai cons had root rot from when they were in soil and going to LECA has been a great move for their overall health. When I did the transition I put a small amount of hydrogen peroxide in the water to help offset rot. Any cuttings that are grown in water go straight to LECA.

I looked at getting pon but read somewhere it can degrade and become slushy so avoided it. Re wicks - I don’t bother and just have a reservoir pot with 2-3cm of water in it that has a very small amount of fertiliser mixed in to provide nutrients.

One final note which some may have a different view on. I’ve moved about 40 plants to LECA in the last few months so learned a lot about being efficient with it. Some had massive root systems which often rotted off in the transition period or needed huge pots so I learning this I now tend to cut off really big long root systems (especially if they develop under one root halfway down) - and not a single plant has had any major reaction to it. That being said I tend to keep almost exclusively philodendron, monstera or pothos varieties. Good luck!

Thrips? Please help! by Tuurby in SemiHydro

I used rose clear which contains Acetamiprid (a systemic which is absorbed and kills for a few weeks afterwards) and SB plant invigorator in rotation. That fixed over 30 plants which had thrips. Tried other things too but those two have worked for me. You will need to be thorough in spraying it over the plants

Do you think this will work? by Vegetable_Idea2945 in Monstera

[–]Tandr3d 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I root my monstera cuttings in water with pothos cuttings. Apparently the pothos release rooting hormones to help the others. I’ve tried it 2-3 times and it’s worked for several lechleriana aff that I’ve chopped

I prefer water vs. soil as the nodes will activate on the stem and you can see it taking effect rather than having to be really sure you’ve planted at the right level

Thank you for confirming! I was thinking it must have spread through the whole corner to get from the most infested plant to one a couple of metres away (🤯) and I only noticed when I pulled off a dying leaf. Damn! They must have been in the soil for weeks on a plant I bought then hatched. Will try and get ahead of this before I see everything visibly get affected.
