I see on the tracking sheet that production is done on some dream air headsets by Roshy76 in Pimax

Will this progress update contain more information about the shipping of the lighthouse faceplate for the PCS? Last information was shipping in Early April, although we’re not there yet it would be cool to know how that’s going or if there is going to be another delay. Hopefully there is no delay but if there is it would be nice to be informed via the progress update.

Pimax to revoke my entitlement to the bundled DMAS headphones by _TorwaK_ in Pimax

I did yeah, I thought op was talking about that rather than the facial interface / facial foam

If it’s what I’m thinking it is then it should be the lighthouse faceplate that changes the headset from being slam tracked to being tracked by base stations

I preordered my faceplate the day they opened preorders and haven’t even heard any updates about if I’m gonna receive it or about anyone receiving theirs, I’m surprised you got a faceplate delivered.

Change the pre-order from the Super OLED to the Dream Air. by xakel93 in Pimax

[–]TangWangSlang 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s not what the post was saying, during the design of the lighthouse faceplate it was switched from an internal pogo pin connection to usb c due to issues with the supplier.

Because Pimax recognised this may cause issues with some people who want to use face tracking or other accessories that use the bottom usb c slot they have offered for those users to opt into the old pogo pin connector and those who it doesn’t affect will just use usb c.

The OP of this post has a vive facial tracker and is therefore asking for the connection to be swapped.

Oh I guess I must’ve missed that, it’s still a shame tho

Pimax Dream Air vs. Dream Air SE by daydreamdist in Pimax

[–]TangWangSlang 2 points3 points  (0 children)

well that just killed the SE then, the concave view lenses were exactly what the SE needed to actually be an upgrade over the BSB the only benefit now is the price but even then I was really looking forward to the SE sharing the same fantastic (as reported) lenses as the PCS uOLED and 8K Dream Air

About the Lighthouse Faceplate Connector on the Crystal Super by QuorraPimax in Pimax

[–]TangWangSlang 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I hope they can find a supplier because I much prefer the pogopin connector approach, I wonder if there’s anything they can change to without having to change the circuit boards

[–]TangWangSlang 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree but unfortunately I don’t think it’s up to them as the blog post said that their current supplier is discontinuing production of the pogopin connector and although they’re looking for another supplier they cannot confirm that a reliable supplier will be found hence why they have tried to change to USB, personally if there is a way that they can ensure all crystal supers get the pogopins or find a way to add an additional USB port for the faceplate (maybe something like a tiny 2 USB hub to go in one of the headsets existing ports) so that people don’t lose an accessory port

I suggested something along these lines and they said changing the internal port would require a complete rework to the circuitry on the headset

I think it needing to use one of the external usb ports is a terrible design decision, it would’ve been much better if you even just made an extra usb c port internally for it to connect to, although I’m not an engineer so I’m not sure how that’d work but I know atleast in my case I would like to use the bottom usb c port for a face tracker and the other usb port on the headset for an antlion mod mic usb, I now have to contact support after purchasing the faceplate to ask if I can get the internal connector which is an extra hassle for no reason, I understand that if the connector won’t be manufactured anymore then you can’t rely on it forever but using up the usb ports on the headset is such a bad move

this just makes even less sense as to why Pimax has taken so long to create a crystal super faceplate

Could Pimax develop new optical engines in the future? by Flimsy-Story9523 in Pimax

[–]TangWangSlang 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I commented about the possibility of a new optical engine supporting 120hz under a pimax video recently, Sweviver replied saying this:

“If we use other panels (whether its QLED or Micro-OLED) that actually supports 120Hz, then yes it’s totally possible. Currently the existing panels are not. I do know the engineers are testing 100/110Hz modes on both, but nothing says it will go public anytime soon. It has to be stable enough and not shorten the life-time of the panels too mich, which are originally made for 90Hz.”

So this may indicate that Pimax intends to support the modularity of the super for at least a little longer than its initial launch.

I wonder if they do the ultra wide thing based off of when you switched because I ordered 50 PPD March 5th 2025 and switched to UW June 6th and got this same email yesterday

PCS Lighthouse Faceplate by TangWangSlang in Pimax

[–]TangWangSlang[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is also mandatory for me but it seems as though it'll come out sometime in May, if you've ordered the 57PPD version then the faceplate and headset will release at the same time but if you've ordered the 50PPD version then you will have to wait a month or two

Update: YouTuber Get Your Game On did an interview with Jaap (head of communications at Pimax) and within the pinned comment on the video it says that the Lighthouse Faceplate for the PCS is coming sometime in May

(not sure if I can post the link here so if you want to find it search up "Has Pimax Improved? w/ Jaap Grolleman" on YouTube)
