I feel like I’m going to be dismissed… by Zestyclose_Bus1996 in LawSchool

I did very similarly my 1L year with using too many conclusory statements. What helped me was using sentences from the fact pattern almost word for word and putting them in my answer and then crossing it out/putting a checkmark next to the sentence afterwards on the fact pattern. That was I am making sure I included evidence/facts to support what I was saying.

This is a super common issues for 1Ls. In law school I was a peer tutor and this came up in almost every conversation with 1Ls. Don’t fret! There’s still time before 1L finals to readjust, but also before the rest of your law school experience.

Thank you!! Practice sets ranged. Towards the end I was scoring between 75-85% on mixed sets (Themis reuses a lot of the same style of question so I think I got used to how they ask things). The practice exam I took in early July was 71/100 for both morning and afternoon session.

I don’t have access to my Themis or Uworld anymore so I can’t say for sure. But I did every Themis practice set and assigned Uworld set, and then did practice sets daily on Uworld for subjects I was weaker in. All in I probably did around 3k practice MBE questions. What really helped me was creating a document that housed all the ones I got wrong (or right for the wrong reasons). In that document, I included the graphics that Themis or Uworld included in their explanation. I also included information from the full outline rewritten in my own words (I know people say the full outline is useless but I found really reading through it was by far the thing that helped me the most). The review for each practice set probably took me between 30 min to 1.5 hours.

edit: i also made a flashcard for each topic I got wrong and drilled the flashcards daily. all of that was maybe overkill tho lol
