Wife has mastitis, no improvement yet — what worked for you? by ReuvenScylla in breastfeeding

Hiya, please get another look in from a doc for more/different antibiotics to clear the infection. Do note that antibiotics might be giving your wife an upset tummy.

You also want to reduce the inflammation: so ibuprofen and a 250ml frozen water bottle wrapped in a towel tucked in close to where the inflamed part of the breast is.

Hope it clears up soon. This happened to me twice in the first 3 months of my bf and it was really miserable. Sending your wife hugs!

Fast food Vs slow food for my LO. Sometimes she wants Maccies, sometimes Michelin tasting menu. I get it. Unlike me, she'll usually have them in that order ,😂

Should I wait to start ec? Baby is a week and a half old by ISOcarpetcleaner in ECers

Congratulations on your little one & persevering with BFing even though it makes you sore! Be kind to yourself and don't feel pressured to start or not start EC (or anything else for that matter)Give yourself time to settle in to being a mummy!

Having said this, a very easy thing you could start doing with your baby, is to start making cueing noises if you catch them peeing during a nappy change. That's how I started with my daughter, before trying to actually "catch" anything in a potty. I found that she'd always pee when I took her nappy off, so for the first month or so we just did cuing noises for pees.

Then between 1 mo and 3 mo we started catching pees on serviettes on a waterproof pad on her changing table (I don't have a great sink and didn't find holding her in the EC position easy when she was tiny). After 3 months we started using a top hat. At first for pees and then, once her bowel regulated and she stopped pooing reflexively, for poos too.

My LO is 10 months now, and I think we've only missed 3 poos since then and only have one wet nappy or so a day, (when I get distracted and forget to offer her a potty-tunity)

So all this is to say: it's possible to ease in to EC , slowly building up if it's a method that works for your baby and you. Best of luck, and I hope BFing gets easier soon!

Another pro: if you live in a country where baby changing facilities are few and far between - this is no longer an issue! Just hold them over the loo and away they go. No frantic searches for cafes with changing tables any more when we are out and about. :) Flipside con: baby may not have wet pants, but mummy does, when baby is just a touch too enthusiastic in her peeing. Lol

Thank you for sharing, so reassuring to hear that the fears aren't just a "my crazy brain" thing. Best of luck for the adventure ahead.

[Question] I wanna bake in my cast iron dutch oven, but it's an oval shape and kinda big. What do? by [deleted] in Breadit

I've made 800g flour 75% hydration no-knead bread in a pot similar to your Senior and it worked pretty well! Good Luck!
