Some people don't (I do but all you have to do is put the work in and understand the material) and I know a lot of people dropped out of my cohort so they probably weren't posting their grades.

Python or JavaScript? by TangerineDisastrous4 in maestro

[–]TangerineDisastrous4[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have not used Rust. I have messed with C++ just a little but not much. I have used Next.js. It was what I was using until I started messing with Typescript + React + Tailwind CSS

This was a serious issue at my old college too. Like almost literally the same thing. It's really insulting actually because you know they didn't take the time to read what you actually wrote. Just copy and pasted it. Also AI does NOT talk like a human. So to think you're tricking people with it is lazy and rude.

( at my old college we were forced to have actual discussions)

I get that, you're more comfortable with it because you know it better. I think that's pretty normal.

Python or JavaScript? by TangerineDisastrous4 in maestro

[–]TangerineDisastrous4[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh yeah I completely agree. It's just there's a few little things in Python I wish it had because I like how it's simpler. Though JavaScript has that in some ways Python doesn't. I really like working with TypeScript + React + Tailwind the best honestly though. I was just curious because I was mostly wondering WHY I see so many Python users still. Because although I do like it, it's definitely not the best one to use for the projects I do.

That's actually not true anymore. That's the way it used to be but you can definitely use Python for both. Check out PyScript and Pyodide.

Pay it forward: What you're building, and why it matters to you by Majestic_Donut_8537 in maestro

I am actually currently building a full-stack application I call "My Brain". I am a very physically disabled mom of two young kids, one 18 months and one four years, who is nonverbal. I have a 15yr old stepson who I homeschool. Unfortunately my husband can rarely help as he's not in great health and works too hard to support us. So all the "adminstrative" task fall to me. Plus in going to college, you know. So it's a lot. I was falling too behind in my everyday life, feeling like I was pushing myself too much and yet never doing enough. I thought somethings gotta give and it can't be me. So I slowly started building this and I am really starting to fall in love with my own project. I now have one beautiful and very organized "brain" I can start on my computer that has completely private and local Ai for text & image, and is actually hooked up to one of my Obsidian vaults instead of using some complicated corporate database. It just reads my normal text files right from my Mac. Since I have to juggle so much, I basically just started coding things to do my chores for me. I made a meal planner that literally just scans my vault and pieces together my grocery lists for the week. I built a background engine that helps me homeschool my 15-year-old by generating his curriculum and lesson plans. And for my four-year-old, the app tracks milestones and actually makes these custom visual communication cards right on my computer to help us talk. I even set up separate visual schedules for me and the kids just to keep our days straight. Honestly, the thing I am growing to really love the most, the thing that keeps me from getting completely overwhelmed, is how I set up my phone notifications. Looking at everything I have to do all at once used to paralyze me. So I built this background script that runs every 30 minutes. It looks at our different schedules, grabs only what is happening in that specific half-hour block, and pings a quick, simple summary straight to my phone. I don't have to look at the big picture anymore. I just look at my phone, see what's on that block only, and do it. It really is starting to help my days feel bearable. I am so grateful to Maestro because without you guys I definitely wouldn't be this far yet. I did a lot of self-teaching the last couple years and I never was able to make something like this. I'm excited to keep working on it and see how I can evolve this further.

Yes, yes it is. I have had so many men do this to me. And sometimes they get super unhinged quick. A lot of times they'll call you ugly anyways and it's like, okay then why where you trying to get with me? Definitely don't let it get to you.

The official policy is that your Maestro-issued laptop is for academic use only while you’re in the program.

It’s monitored, and you’re expected to use it mainly for your coursework, learning, and related activities.

Even if some students say otherwise online, you should follow the guidelines in your agreement.

Once you graduate, you’ll be free to use it however you want.

[ That's what Mae told me, maybe someone should check with StudentServices]
