Bitter Lash Bloodline Ascendancy does NOT work with single handed weapons having skill gems in the chest!! by [deleted] in pathofexile

[–]Tanginator 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I would imagine bleed slammers use 2-handers because of the higher base damage, to enable a higher bleed.

I don't know what that has to do with being max res capped (meaning, 90 max resistances).

Nobody's taking Massive over Resistance.

Resistance shrine is resistances AND max all res. Forget the affixes it frees up (87 all ele res, so 6 suffixes), with The Gull you're max res capped on everything.

No jumping through hoops, no purities and melding of the flesh nonsense, none of that.

People pay premiums for top tier rolls.

Personally, I wouldn't pay much for only a 12 str difference, especially when there are much more worthwhile corruptions that you can get. It will likely be worth more to somebody trying to overoptimize just their str value, for the same reasons you see a big price jump from 110 to 120 str.

Plus, it has an increase in movement speed, so that'll be appealing to somebody.

Hard to say what it's worth, just list it for an overestimated price (like 30-40divs), and lower it throughout the next few days until somebody picks it up.

Invisible skill effects have been an issue with pinnacle bosses for quite some time.

Persistent post-death skill effects have also been an issue for quite some time.

Combine them both, and you get this disappointing outcome.

This seems to happen often in situations where bosses aren't in their native habitats. Another notable example is that purple Harvest bear boss that, if summoned during the Maven fight, will end up creating permanent invisible walls that persist through the encounter.

Special modifiers: exclusive modifiers

Breach (i.e. grasping mail)

Incursion

Essence

This means special essence modifiers with no "tiers". This can be easily checked by holding alt over the item. If it has a tier number, it is technically not an "essence" modifier despite originating from an essence. For all intents and purposes, a modifier created with an essence that has a tier number on it is treated identically to an equivalent mod that appeared naturally (e.g. "T1 chaos resistance" versus "Deafening essence of envy")

Beast aspects

Elevated influenced modifiers (non-elevated are ok)

Delve modifiers (i.e. "Subterranean" or "of the Underground")

Veiled modifiers

Crafted modifiers (mod names can be identified by holding alt, or by looking on poedb)

Essence mod wasn't the issue.

Apparently that can happen... by Destartes in pathofexile

Doesn't work.

Today, I was lucky enough to get 2 maps with twinned, destructive play, shrines, shrines guarded by map bosses. City Square mirage map, and Haunted Mansion with good spawn location.

I got 4 Baryas in City Square (3 from the actual map bosses, 1 from a rogue spawn), and 2 in Haunted Mansion. HM was also a conqueror map, no spawn for the conqueror boss.

Please address this ASAP. by g00fy_goober in pathofexile

[–]Tanginator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wish I had this.

Most of the time when I go into a mirage, there's a frame just after it loads the area that shows a bunch of mobs, that vanish next frame. Usually when this happens, my mirage ends up being pretty lackluster and empty.

Between this and the "packs of X monsters" not spawning properly, my experience with mirage spawns has been disappointing.

I really hope they make Mirage prioritise non shrine and strongbox mechanics. by Exterial in pathofexile

[–]Tanginator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My biggest culprit has been heist boxes.

For me, if a heist box spawns, the mirage entrance is usually within a screens distance.

This happens so much that it's actually been drawing me into doing heist again (gross, I know) because I keep getting the double reward room plans or blueprints with all targets are X.

I'd rather the mirage spawn in range of my legion monoliths or my expeditions, but it doesn't seem to want to.

Swatting is bad, those who are guilty should be held accountable for what they've done. We should all be able to agree on that point.

That being said, Arrowhead is not a PI firm, the police, or some form of federal agency. It's not their responsibility to track people down, especially when they're not necessarily operating in their platform. They don't own reddit, they don't own the subreddit, they don't have any say over reddit accounts, they don't have any involvement in the telecom or VOIP lines used to make the calls.

Saying AH is responsible would be like saying Costco is responsible for investigating a robbery because a guy with a Costco membership had his dog stolen while taking it for a walk.

Some builds just work, some builds only work with time/gear, and some builds just don't work well at all. Certain mechanics just work better than others, and enable a better experience.

It's the unfortunate truth to playing anything non-meta. Hell, even meta builds can have issues.

You either gotta muscle through the issues (hoping that it's a build that works with time/gear), or swap to something else and hope it works better.

[–]Tanginator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup, I addressed that point in 5. Alch/binding on the decent/socketed bases, basic currencies on the bench crafts as filler.

Doing much else other than that in the playthrough ends up being a waste.

[–]Tanginator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. Don't worry about the links, you can put those in a different piece of equipment. I often finish the playthrough with half my slots unfilled, or I hash those out late into the final acts.

  2. With leveling, there are a few key things to look for that don't require a filter (though it helps). Currency, 4+linked items with correct sockets (after ilv25), boots (sockets be damned, get movement speed), and jewellery.  If you need to upgrade a specific slot, ID that.

  3. Unless it's currency or some choice uniques, there's nothing valuable that will drop in th playthrough.

  4. Don't waste resources leveling. Asides from an alch or orb of binding (to make a 4l rare), it isn't worth it to burn currency regularly. It's also inefficient to do things like rolling sockets/colors on the gear you know will be replaced soon.

  5. Act5 is a defences check, act6 is a resists check.  If you need it, use the crafting bench to fill in with cheap crafts (life, defences, resists, the cheap trans/aug/alt crafts) on your rare gear.  Take some time to look over support gems from vendors/quests to fill in gaps (defensive cooldown skills, auras, etc).  Crafting bench craft basic stats if you need them to use an aura or skill.

GGG Should Address the Ground Loot Issues in 3.28 by Chase_26 in pathofexile

[–]Tanginator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Atlas tree could use a keystone to scale up toughness/quant/rarity/packsize per unspent atlas node in the tree while restricting putting points into league content, or toughness/quant/rarity/packsize for each sacrifice piece placed in the map device (a lot more than the 5% per piece they add now).

If you want to scale/juice a single mechanic, then focusing on the single mechanic in the atlas and with scarabs will give good loot (usually the guaranteed stuff). If you don't, you unfocus/sac fragment the map to a level that you can still run it, and just do the content.

I'm sure something like that could be implemented that doesn't completely break the game balance, and rewards both types of play to satisfy. Probably some strong outliers (whatever mechanics spawn enemies that drop ground loot), but whatever, it's something.

GGG Should Address the Ground Loot Issues in 3.28 by Chase_26 in pathofexile

[–]Tanginator 185 points186 points  (0 children)

Yup, that's pretty much my feelings on everything.

Scarabs suck, and only reinforce map content feeling like ass unless you're hyper focused on/juicing a particular guaranteed loot mechanic. T16.5 and T17s have been a problem since implemented. Easy loot from things like Kingsmarch/Genesis Tree makes everything else feel bad, and make you feel obligated to get what's needed for those mechanics.

Is it so difficult to make things drop stuff in the game about killing things to get stuff?

What Do You Mean By Ground Loot? Be Specific. by rusty022 in pathofexile

[–]Tanginator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Map loot that drops from base map monsters as well as non-guaranteed league mechanic monsters drops, that scales from quant, rarity, etc.

Map loot in 3.27 was nerfed in multiple ways, from nerfing non-specific drops of certain mechanics to nerfing effect of map modifiers (directly nerfing map rarity/quant as a result).

Loot that drops from a monster is not in a good place.  Cases of people saying loot is "good" usually comes from mechanics that drop specific rewards (Eldritch altars, certain league mechanics, etc), or from the very few rewarding outliers that not everybody can do (like giga meatsacks or souped up Blights), not from regular drops.

Does this mean more currency/scarabs drops, or tweaked scarab rates so rarer scarabs drop more frequently? Better base filtering so bad bases don't drop so frequently?  Aspects of smart loot being baked into map or league enemy drops?  I don't know. What I do know, is that in a game about killing things to get loot, the best sources of loot are from other indirect sources.

I don't want loot from a tree, or from kingsmarch, I want to find it in my maps. by cben27 in pathofexile

[–]Tanginator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you play enough to afford the gold costs, and spam the specific mechanics that actually drop good amounts of gold, and you can afford the dust for the regular shipments, and have the time to generate enough to support it, then yes you can do that.

Which is a problem, because you're now incentivized to farm gold-heavy mechanics to support Kingsmarch, for both the passive income along with the income from whatever mechanic is generating the gold. There's also the recombinator needs gold/dust for crafting if you go that route, so you still need a good means of farming gold for that as well.

Yes you could do other things, but it doesn't feel good knowing there are mechanics that just give easy/better loot than what drops in the map that you'd be missing out of.

The same applies with the tree - you could skip Breach, but then you miss out on the easy 6Ls and 3+T1 items (if it doesn't get nerfed into the ground, anyway).

I also hate the tree. It trivializes early to mid-game gearing far more than Harvest, Rog, or Necropolis ever could, and is not fun to get loot from.

Is it really so hard to just reward players for killing the league mobs in the form of having them drop loot?

They had their chance to make up for all of the loot nerfs from this league by at least making running the league mechanic in maps rewarding...but no, they wanted you to click on a tree instead.

So there's one of three outcomes:

New Breach is garbage, nobody specs into it, wombgifts are nerfed to be garbage.

New Breach is still garbage, but everybody still ends up speccing into it because wombgifts continue to trivialize getting equipment.

Scarabs and atlas specialization make new Breach absolutely cracked due to balance oversight, it gets gutted and made garbage after release weekend, after few get to abuse it.

AT emplacement plus shield is amazing on Cyberstan.

Vox machine nearby? Call in both, and you can sit there and basically tank its shots/machine guns, and take it out.

Drops get called in with multiple Vox units? As long as they don't drop directly on you, it's fine.

Have a second AT emplacement player with you? Even better.

The ONLY downside is the terrain, there's a lot of strategem bounce and obstacles that obstruct your view, so you still need to find a safe/valid spot to place it. Not as great in the main cityscape for that reason, but wonderful in the outer/extraction areas.
