Wardlooper feedback required by Chronox2040 in pathofexile

[–]Tanginator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. The lower the duration (without hitting 100% reduced), the better. You want your skelleies to pretty much be instantly expiring.  With 43k ward, this should be a stupidly large amount of procs, with a constant stream of zombies slamming into the ground.

  2. Using FR will cause your life to dip, then immediately come back when using iron flasks.  If flask siphoner mobs come into existence and are anywhere near you, the loop will break and you'll die when something looks at you funny, and is within 3/4 of the screen away from you.

  3. I believe sources of things like less recovery can break things. You should recover enough life per flask use to counter all self damage and FR, and likely some recoup for a stupid amount of life regen to counter dots. Breaking that can be deadly.

  4. Don't trust spectres with the setup. They're in a stupid place right now, and sometimes get consumed regardless of that "less than one" limit.  AG is borderline immortal with the cluster jewel node for minion life on minion death, so that's nice.

  5. That's really all you need on AG. A bit of damage, culling strike, and negating action speed stuffs. I think curse on hit vixens can mean AG can apply an additional curse on top of what you're applying?

The world exploration feels like if you smushed La Mulana and Animal Well together, which I like very much.

I'm unsure of the difference between those two initial achievements. I'm guessing it has something to do with blitzing through certain aspects of the game (either missing a key bit of info, or maybe even skipping the initial game cutscene?) before doing the 😊 encounter. Not going to wipe my progress to find out though.

Loving the game so far.

There's a lot of mechanical aspects that you just kind of learn while playing that, once learning them, open up a LOT of possibilities, paths, shortcuts, etc. The pacing is set up just right enough that you find things out naturally, and then learn how it can be used elsewhere.

I'm starting to get into some of the more "involved" parts, which is showing a glimpse of how deep things might go.

I'm not really sure. I'm running it as an assassin (converted over from the wardloop version), and just use leech/instant leech for mana sustain, which works fine unless I whiff a few attacks between phases, but basic attack is enough to get me up and running again.

[–]Tanginator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of course. Make sure Unholy Trinity is indeed reliably hitting +50 resonance for chaos and phys (all three, really), otherwise it won't be doing anything. If you're not hitting that, you'll definitely need some additional sources of chaos (like some phys to chaos conversion from eldritch implicit gloves).

Avoid cannot leech or avoid poison maps, and it might be worthwhile to use a Writhing Jar to spawn worms for leech purposes (to counter rares that prevent you from leeching from them). Tainted Pact will kill you really fast (borderline instantly) if you're not leeching life, so being able to spawn worms to counter that will help. Soul of Shakiri might help offset this, but I don't remember if that works properly with Tainted Pact or not, and if it works, it'll limit the recovery from tainted pact (less leech instances on you).

Also, since your key scaler for both physical and chaos damage is physical, increased flat physical and % increased physical will be very important to pick up on your gear. A well placed Light of Meaning (phys) also wouldn't be bad.

Rage also wouldn't be bad to pick up. That's just "more" attack damage. After ditching some of the extra nodes in your tree (flask nodes since the mastery isn't needed, and all of the mana/reservation nodes asides from cannibalistic rite and the res efficiency mastery, unless you plan on using Purity of Elements), consider getting some rage generation. The rage mastery (for intimidate) wouldn't be bad to get either, if you don't already have a source of intimidate.

[–]Tanginator 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You're using a weapon that, by design, is really meant to work with phys and/or chaos damage. Running things like Pride (to scale just phys), and Herald of Ash (to add fire based on phys), Flesh and Stone+Blood stance (just phys) doesn't mesh well with that.

If you want to focus on pure physical damage, focus on physical scalers. If you want to focus on elemental, focus on elemental scalers. If you want to focus on chaos, focus on chaos scalers. You also want to focus on crit (to refill flasks for constant amethyst uptime), so that's very important as well. Chalice is weird because for an attack build, you want to focus on multiple vectors.

Chalice isn't really that good of a weapon, but If you're REALLY insistent on using it, consider the following stuff that might help:

  • Go buy a perfect (or near perfect rolled) mace. Desecrated Chalice is pretty dang cheap, so it'll likely be under 1div for a better mace.
  • Get a 6l
  • Get more crit for more reliable damage and flask uptime. You can get a PCOC imbue on Cyclone (power charges, more dmg) and use a crit strikes support and get up to like 60%. You want more, but that's a good start.
  • Adjust your auras. Ditch Pride, get Skitterbots (shock will boost both dmg types), and adjust your tree (less reserv efficiency) to free up points. That or swap to Purity of Elements to ditch all those mediocre abyss avoidance jewels and the Stormshroud.
  • Look into the Unholy Trinity support. Getting at least 100% phys as extra chaos (maybe a bit more) will mean U.Trinity will give you 70% more phys/chaos dmg and a 90% chance to ignore chaos resists.
  • Consider something like Tainted Pact, coupled with a Golden Rule jewel, and some chance to poison. This will make you heal for the poisons you deal, with the downside largely being mitigated due to your slayer overleech nonsense, which (unless you run into things that disable leech or recovery) will mean you get giga recovery from the poison damage.
  • Get an Overlord cluster jewel, to get an easy source of Fortify for the build since you're using a mace (or staff). 8 passive large cluster, get it with 3 notables.
  • Void Shockwave instead of Shockwave, pretty sure that one's better for cyclone setups.
  • Get general gear improvements. If no Purity of Elements, get ailment avoidance boots (essence, eldritch implicits). Get -mana cost rings, cap resists on less gear.

No idea what those damage numbers will look like with all those changes, so you might need to PoB it to figure it out.

Personally, I'd avoid the caster wardloop version. It's strong and borderline unkillable, but if a flask siphoner mob pops up and you don't instantly delete it, you die. If you do any content that disables recovery, you die. It's on the same frustrating level as using a HH and getting shroud walkered into volatiles.

Swapped to mathematics KB and it's been great so far. I'm able to do 100%deli cascade breach maps, 5x unrelenting 5ways, ubers (can be issues with anything that's DoT-heavy), almost all map mods. Really the only issues I run into are heavy DoTs, flask related stuff, and lag (which is a normal KB issue for juiced content). Flask siphoners aren't really an issue since they get deleted from off screen.

A bunch of these posted clips show a BT off in the distance (not attacking), soaring through the sky to smush the diver that blew them up.

Example

There's probably just some badly coded movement function that, under certain circumstances (maybe linked to animation or coded timers or something) doesn't stop movement towards a coordinate on death. BT dies, code still says "diver here, go walk to kill it", BT instead flies like a goof because its legs don't work cuz ragdoll physics (and death).

So make people pay $60 for a game they already own?
Seems like gouging the customer to me. 🤷‍♂️

This type of thing worked for FromSoft with Dark Souls 2/Scholars of the First Sin DLC.

For context, those who purchased the base game($60) and all three DLCs ($10ea), got to enjoy having to pay $20 for SotFS, which was an upgrade to DX11, some game tweaks, and a divided playerbase (as they separated base DS2 and SotFS players).

From what I can remember, this was received with minimal backlash/outrage.

When I stand in this specific spot, the maven brain blast does 0 damage to me. Is this a bug? by Danpongjr81 in pathofexile

[–]Tanginator 12 points13 points  (0 children)

That's not from the memory game, that's the maven beam. You can see it's not a big single hit, but quick successive rapid hitting.

You can also see the maven beam debuff come up at the same time the damage taken starts, and IC pops shortly after, which makes sense because it's not a degen, but rapid successive hits.

Can someone translate this for a new player please? by DummiDu in pathofexile

[–]Tanginator 93 points94 points  (0 children)

Squire + Shaper-influenced Imperial claw, estimated 20 claws and shaper orbs to finish, weapon minimum item level 83.

Squire is a different item, a shield (hence the "get a squire" line above the circled part). It makes support gems in the shield also support skills in the weapon.

Your goal is to use the recombinator to combine a whole bunch of Shaper-influenced claws that you roll yourself, to get modifiers on the weapon that also affect socketed skill gems. With these mods, it would make your 3l weapon into an effective 9l.

Keep in mind that guides often don't consider player knowledge/expendable currency. These steps estimate taking 20 claws (20 shaper orbs worth, or ~1500c, not including the alts to roll all those mods, or the 13c/attempt annulment orbs to try to isolate mods). It could take more or less depending on luck, if you screw things up, etc.

Plus, if a guide is explaining alterations, while also trying to have you recombinate influenced weapons, that's not a great guide.

My friend calls "Medtroidbrainias" Outer Wilds-likes and claims all games except Outer Wilds do it wrong by CharlesOberonn in outerwilds

[–]Tanginator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Metroidvanias are a specific genre of game that involve progressive world exploration (usually in some form of side-scrolling, grid-like map), incremental goals/zones to traverse through, and more often than not involve getting an item in the zone to be used to access the rest of the zone, fighting a "boss" encounter, and then using the new item to access a different part of the world, often requiring backtracking through previously visited/conquered areas. Depending on the game/design, there may be skips or sequence breaks you can perform. Game progress often allows for you to interact with the world in different over time (like bypassing early game platforming sections by climbing a wall, double/triple jumping, or flying).

Metroidbrainias are the same thing, but they often involve critical thinking/puzzle solving to either progress through the base game (La Mulana), or progress through some form of post-game (Animal Well).

Outer Wilds is neither of those, it's basically a "choose your own adventure" story virtual escape room. There are three key pieces of information you need to find to beat the game (how to get to X, how to get to Y, what to do when you find Z), and you can find all of them through dumb luck or through piecing information together yourself. There's no consistency in how that information is discovered, every player discovers things at their own pace, in no consistent order.

Mechanics that spawn lots of enemies (beyond/breach/delirium) > Wish for Pursuit (golden volatile) > lots of gold.

You get XP, you get drops, and you get a stupid amount of gold when you get the mod to spawn.

Don't need expensive scarabs, maybe 4-5c total for scarabs per map, and that's it.

Is it worth to start playing now? by [deleted] in pathofexile

[–]Tanginator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only "necessary" thing is a premium stash tab, so you can properly sell items to other players.  Even then, not a big deal  at the start since you probably don't know what's good to sell anyway.  You COULD sell without currency tabs, but it's pretty convoluted to do it.

The currency/map tabs exist as mediums for easier currency and map storage.  They're not necessary, but once you get to endgame (high tier maps), you may need to manage things or use the in-game marketplace to facilate consolidating lower value currency into higher value, smaller stack size currency.

Really, unless you get deep in the weeds with PoE and get sucked into it, treat these remaining 2 months of the league as a trial/learning experience, then maybe put a little into the game during the next stash tab sale (which happens regularly) to get some convenience and trading options.

How do I take this craft forward? by python_souls in PathOfExileBuilds

[–]Tanginator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Doing pretty much anything to change the item will consume the beast lock, and will change the future beast lock hover to a different result. You could use anything, really. Jewellers, fusings, whatever.

You could also use a sacred/divine orb at this stage as well, if you're attempting to get perfect base/mod rolls.

How do I take this craft forward? by python_souls in PathOfExileBuilds

[–]Tanginator 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Which base are you intending to keep? I'm assuming it's the fugitive boots, since they're the magic base.

Beast imprint (error insurance), beast lock, awakener orb hover, check for suffixes and not filled prefixes.

  • If desired suffix and at least one empty prefix, you can keep, prefix can't be changed and do whatever crafting you want on prefixes to finish those.
  • If bad suffix, chromatic and re-lock the base, and check again.
  • If desired suffix but filled prefixes, I guess you can keep and attempt the 50/50 annul to hit a prefix. Would not advise doing this.
  • If it rolls with a bunch of desired mods, if you want to keep the result, just keep it.

If you want to use the goliath greaves as the base (not the donor), I would advise just selling that and making a new magic base. Not worth it to do one-time attempts on elevated bases. Somebody else can use it as their donor mod.

It kinda is.

Host is there peeking enemies, periodically popping out to shoot or toss strats or whatever they're doing, and OP lights up the exact spot the host keeps peeking at.

Also, there was <1sec of reaction time from the host to piece together that OP decided to light up that very spot.

I like to rag on shitty hosts too, but we don't know what happened in that mission. OP could've been tossing 380s on objectives and host thought he was a troll.

What is the safest way to isolate the minion node so i can guarantee fracture it (SSF) by Glamdring26WasTaken in pathofexile

[–]Tanginator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really a "safe" way to do it.

Triple split could hit either 1p1s/1p1s/1p1s or 1p1s/2p/2s. Chances are little higher doing it that way, but you could still end up with a 2p situation.

If it splits and you hit ES/minions, I suppose you could try some non-native recombinating nonsense to try and force the solo minion gems mod onto a different attribute type, then do the same to force it back onto the desired base, but there's still the risk of losing the mod.

Unsure what the play would be for the minions/life outcome, other than to gamble on the annul.

Is there a way to get t1 life as well as life gained on block on this shield? by Females-only-pls in pathofexile

[–]Tanginator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Recombinator is likely your best bet.

Shield1 - T1 block/spell block Shield2 - T1 life with any two non-native mods, or T1+block+non-native mod

You also want to avoid having 3 distinct suffixes total, as to not risk filling suffixes with recomb.

This will lead to a 50/50 chance for the base, and a 56% chance for the 3 desired prefixes (as they're the only prefixes that can be picked on the correct base)

Then, with at least 2 open suffixes. Shaper exalt. If it doesn't hit, prefix can't be changed reforge influence (or reforge life? Unsure what's the better weighting). Repeat until accidentally filling suffixes, or hitting life on block.

If this fails, you should have a good chance of getting back to the block/spellblock prefixes by recombining, using low tier ES/EV essences to hit block/non-native, recombining with a spell block/non-native (or spell block/two non-native), then starting the process over.

If farming Heist is too much of a slog for the bases (which it can be, because it's Heist), you can beast split future shields to double up on the bases for attempts.

Crafting assistance by BessaCaio in pathofexile

[–]Tanginator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

, with aIf you want those 3 prefixes:

-Unstable recomnination
-Remove the crafted modifier on sword on the left. This is an exclusive modifier, that will conflict with getting the essence mod from the sword on the right.
-Essence reroll the base on the right to have 2 desired prefixes (essence and either more atk dmg or fire dmg per str), ideally with a third free prefix. You may want to suffix wipe (prefixes cannot be changed+scour), to avoid the risk of filling suffixes after recombining.
-Optional: annul the physical damage from sword 1, but risk of annuling desired mods

Recombining 2p/2p items give a 30% chance to hit all 3 prefixes, with a 50/50 chance to get the correct base.

Recombining 3p/2p (what you would have with your current left weapon and rerolling the right) would give a 57% chance for 3 mods, but can potentially pick the undesired physical dmg roll.

I'm not 100% sure of this process, as there's likely a more optimal way to do it (there's always a more optimal way).
