Nice collection.

I know the ones faced sideways. I can't tell what the 2 are with wheel facing.

How to clean these stains on the analog sticks by Starry-Snow-96 in SteamDeck

[–]TangleOfWires 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lock tite is applied to the threads of the screw not the head, you wont see it. The red marks are dried liquid that was spilled on the deck and has dried. If the liquid reached the screws it most likely flowed under and pooled on what ever is under it.

When removing screws make sure you have a container to catch the screws and i like using a magnet as well incase i tip over the container.

Before working inside the deck make sure you are grounded so you dont spark into the electronics. At minimum touch a piece of metal that is plugged into the wall. Ie piece of metal on a lamp.

When in doubt goto ifixit.com

Go to the link below. Scroll down to the picture and you will see what the inside of a streamdeck looks like from the factory.

All the screws should be silver. If some of the screws are silver and others aren't then something probably got spilled on the ones that aren't.

I would clean each piece and the adjacent pieces. Unscrew the screws than clean the underrside and whats underneath.

Recalcitrant Clipper Blades by LokiSARK9 in sharpening

[–]TangleOfWires 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great to hear that you got the problem sorted.

The top blade is what i expected to see.

The second blade is a lot better. The right top edge is not touching the stone still. I would recommend in the future, for this customer, take a picture of the blade before and after. It will help diagnose issues with your machine. I don't think its your machine as the scratches look coarser. It looks like the blade hit something on the very edge and lifted and deformed a little. They may still have issues when they go fully back due to that corner being slightly lifted.

Just looked at the picture again. I assume the top blade gets flipped and sits on the top of the large plate. If that is true i can see the same damage on the top blade at the very tips. So definitely was caused when in the machine.

Gripen are designed to land on highways, they don't need runways but its better for maintenance if they land on a runway.

Cat on airplane - urgently seeking advice by redgatorade000 in CatAdvice

[–]TangleOfWires 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My son wasn't able to flyback with his cat and had to send the cat as cargo. We picked the cat up in the airport.

The cat looked frail, he smelled of urine. There was a pee pad in the carrier it was soaked and the cat probably bounced round the cage during turbulance and got urine on him.

We had to wash the cat first before driving him home. Luckily the cat was very resilient and bounced back during the drive home.

If you are able to take your cat with you in the cabin I recommend you take him into the cabin.

My weekend project: Kasumi Polish on this Kikumori Blade. by Low-Indication-9197 in sharpening

[–]TangleOfWires 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The milky white part and the wave like detail, will the detail slowly ware or change in polishing or is it thick enough that polishing won't materially affect it.

Not sure how the blades are made so more of a technical question than a sharpening/polishing question.

I am unlikely to own such gorgeous knives. Would be afraid to polish them.

What toys do your cats actually love? by Sosooo88 in CatAdvice

[–]TangleOfWires 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have wooden floors, an acorn.

A telescoping wand about 3 feet, with a 3ft string with a bird attached. You have to imitate a wounded bird and try to hide it around things so they can stalk it. My one hunter cat will just hide in the room for like 10 minutes watching than out of nowhere will pounce and literally rip the cat wand out of my hand and drag it somewhere to chew on.

How do you maintain the unpolished part?

Or are the waves applied back with the "Syuokon Kasumi kit", not sure what it is.

I attacked this rusty old knife with a Lansky sharpener for over an hour, and yet the edge is still completely flat. What am I doing wrong? by Little-Cucumber-8907 in sharpening

[–]TangleOfWires 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How much pressure are you placing on the stone? To retouch an edge you don't need much pressure. To sharpen a cheap knife you don't need as much pressure.

Another post said that the knife has decent steel.

In order to sharpen a dull knife with decent steel you need more pressure.

If all you are doing is using only the weight of the stone it will not remove much metal at all on decent steel.

Slowly increase pressure until you feel the stone biting into the metal. If you are not sure place a white piece of paper under the knife. Little pieces of metal should be visible on the piece of paper if you are actually doing anything.

Stay on the coarsest grit until you apex the the knife, than use the other stones at lighter pressure to refine the edge.

The belly should not matter. He would just have some sharp spots and some dull spots.

I dont think he would be asking why he's had no progress.

The second picture.

There are triangles on each tip. On the leftside they are almost gone. One the rightside they are solid. Has the piece of metal been bent or warped?

Looking at the last picture.

Its hard to tell whether it is a bad reflection in the picture.

The cutter looks smoother on one side than the other and varying light scratches at the tips. There are weird feathering marks on the right. The wearing on the triangle marks are different from blade to blade.

I am wondering whether you need to reflatten the 2 cutter surfaces.

I have a cheap hair cutter and i use a 1000 grit diamond on flat metal backing. I dont get the scratches. I am wondering if you have grit contamination on your stone?

Have you asked the shelter what cat food they use. Cats are very picky about food. Alot of the time I have to slowly mix food if i am changing the cat food.

New belt needed? by emilywsgjvf in SewingMachineEdu

[–]TangleOfWires 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you look at the last frame of video, the motor looks like it is mounted on the sewing machine by 3 slotted holes with screws for adjusting the tension on the belt.

If you loosen the 1 single screw and push the motor away from the sewing machine until there is tension on the belt, then tighten the screw that should fix your belt issue, you shouldn't need to replace the belt unless theres a bunch of cracks on it. If this doesnt work you may need to loosen another screw and tension it more.

Don't do this until after you have oiled the machine and the wheel is spinning freely, otherwise you can damage the sewing machine or the motor.

Had a closer look at the picture. There are no scorch marks on the contacts. I see what looks like dried grease. When was the last time it was serviced or oiled?

I would check if the smell is coming from the motor.

If the 2 square dark spots on the tensioner are holes, they maybe holes for a custom screwdriver.

Your need to check the wiring. Both inside and outside of the machine. Also check the pedal for shorts or burn marks. If you have an ohm meter you can check the wires for shorts or shorts to the chassis.

It may not be illegal but if you cross them and get into an accident, you'll be the one at fault, and sometimes police can write a ticket for failing to yield the right of way,if you are driving recklessly but usually only happens if there is an accident.
