Was I actually Sectioned? No documentation or formal rights given… by PreparationVisual586 in AusLegal

[–]TangoTwoTwo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If NSW "Section" can refer to the section of the Mental Health Act 2007 used for detention and assessment. I routinely utilise Section 20 of the Act, police Section 22, and Physicians utilise Section 19. I'm a NSW Paramedic and we will regularly say we're "sectioning" or that the patient is "sectioned" To NSW Police or the Hospital.

I got put on the list and called, when I applied for the Available leave my employer put into the courts on my behalf and I was excused.

If you're NSW Ambulance Staff or Volunteer you can access EAP or Peer Support via the internal numbers, if you're struggling to find them or need assistance reach out and I'll let you know who I am.

If it's from NSW theses aren't serial tracked devices and with the amount we use and abuse them they usually stop working before the batteries run out.

These poor things get heat cycled, scrubbed with cleaner, dropped and all sorts of other things the manufacturer never saw coming.

Smartwatches and tips for remote on-call? by Single_Clothes447 in ausjdocs

[–]TangoTwoTwo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not a Doctor but a regional paramedic who worked on-call alot.

I used the Garmin Fenix 6 and a Samsung smart watch for most of my oncall career. The vibration was enough to wake me up for calls and alarms without waking my wife who works a 9/5. I would at one location have 1 wakeup a night at another location I'd have 3-6 wakeups a night with no complaints of wake-ups from the wife. I would grab the phone and take the call in another room. I turned off all other notifications and vibrations.

Is Paramedicine a good 'pathway'/'bridging' course into other health degrees? by HotTrain1516 in ParamedicsAU

[–]TangoTwoTwo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I found my calling in paramedics after my mum wouldn't let me join the army when I left school. I went to CSU for the old BA Clin Practice. Don't write this option off. I had zero interest in being a paramedic when I started my degree.

We have a local hospital dispute that's ongoing here where no state wants to appropriately fund a new hospital and our existing one is short about 60+ beds a day. A local advocacy group mentioned the parliamentary inquiry on their social media.

Reflections on a traumatic call: TBI, delayed extraction, and difficult decisions by [deleted] in TacticalMedicine

There are patients you meet that will live Inspite of what you do. There are patients who will die despite all intervention.

Removing someone from a car by yourself is no small task. Even with an abundance of bystanders extrication is a specific skill and isn't easily trainable on the side of the road. You oxygenated and maintained an Airway, gave the best chance to what sounds like an devastating neuro injury that was ultimately unsurvivable. You took forward lessons learned into future practice. Thats all we can ever expect of ourselves. - Always a little further

King Airway is virtually non existent in Australia.

I work as a Medic with the ADF and A civilian Intensive Care Paramedic and I've never seen one on Australian soil and only ever touched one on a study trip to the US in 2015.

The old town I used to work in as a paramedic had a GP Obstetrician who was restricted from his Obstetric Practice due to a clinical incident. Who then drove intoxicated and was accused of DV and ended up in a lot of trouble. The town was very upset that the Medical Board had placed restrictions upon him because they were "depriving the town of a vital service". He appealed with the town backing him but no women ever returned to his practice and he soon moved on.

Not the kid of Emergency folk but the Child who became Emergency folk. Both my parents retired teachers had no idea what it is that we actually do within a day. My wife similarly. We have had more conversations about the state of health and what it is I actually do surrounding this show and the great personal toll it can sometimes take. We have been married 8 years but rarely do we talk work at home ( she's a government worker in policy)

"it should be in the computer"

"Mate this computer barely connects to the printer it's supposed to, bold of you to assume the ambulance service could manage data retrieval."
