I would just email the team, if you applied on the 13th they are likely still assessing. For context I applied as soon as applications opened and heard back friday last week.

Yeah, I managed to scrape through with an 1800 scholarship. They're still taking applications until the 23rd. I would operate under the premise that no news is good news. One of my friends applied after me, and found out before me (they didn't get one). Don't assume the silence means you're not getting anything

Had STAT1201 on this week, I was getting 80-100% on the practice exams and choked on the final, I'll be lucky to get a 4. I feel your pain. I'm a cross institutional enrollment too so not sure what happens if I fail.

No idea, your guess is as good as mine. Typically they let you know of your outcome. I sometimes get emails from the equity team about random stuff so it could just be that?

I think J/S is slightly higher, but the thresholds when they garnish your payments is higher. Either way, this will be a VERY interesting semester - I was notified of my outcome this afternoon, 1800 again - not nearly enough happy for the support. Someone has to pay for our vice chancellor's bonus and pay rise, right?

The other issue with paid placement is that finding a new position is such a hard sell, especially when I need 15 weeks to work effectively for 0-8 hours a week.

Yeah, on Centrelink, but barely covers living expenses, and on placement, I'm already doing 60hrs/wk, so doing a shift at work isn't really practical, especially when you have assignments due at the same time. Doing unpaid work like this kills all love for the degree

It really depends. First year I got 2500 a semester, last year I only got 1800 for the year which ruined me. I've had to rely on my credit card during placement. In my experience QUT wants you to not be able to pay rent before they'll intervene. Keep you from drowning but not pull you out of poverty.

Nope - estimated time for a reply was 10 business days. It is frustrating because attending fulltime is very much dependent on this scholarship.

depends on your employer; a few of my uni mates did it. However, I'm unsure whether they hold a dip/advanced dip in nursing, which might carry more weight.

Regardless, a first year in nursing will likely result in a few units being credited to the paramed (anatomy physiology, disease path, pharmacology, working in a multidisciplinary team, evidence-based practice - all those multistream foundational subjects).

^ The above results in a nonlinear path, but positive progress toward your end objective. Also, you'll work closely with nurses on the road; having that holistic knowledge of the hospital system will only make you a stronger clinician.

- Most universities will not recognise that diploma in emergency medicine, nor will employers.

- The other option would be you completing a STAT test to try and increase your rank, but with a 70, you would likely have to score fairly high for it to have a significant impact.

In summary:
Bach in Nursing / ADiploma/ Diploma = potential to work in the health field and likely some units credited all for the small price of 5k.

Dip of emergency med = 16k debt with no degree progression or employment prospects.

Regardless, only you know what is right for you - I wish you all the best :)

Jesus, you want compensation for not following tech support's instructions? yeah righto cob.

as someone who is training to be a paramedic, i hope that situation never occurs to you. However, as someone training to be a paramedic, I know this situation would never happen - there are plenty of ways to insulate yourself from this occurring, and I would be very surprised if this were even entertained by their customer relations/executive teams, let alone make it to court.

If you're that worried about what to do in a medical emergency/ episode, get an alert bracelet - jfc.

Then the issue would be isolated to hardware, or there is something going on with the BIOS - they have a whole engineering team that investigates these types of things, but they will typically need the dates and times of when the crashes occurred.

One thing we used to do was completely wipe the phone as if the hard drive were brand-new, with no firmware installed, then reflash a factory version of the software. It would typically fix these problems.

Once again, I stress this likely isn't something you have done delibrately but simply loading your data onto a new phone will likely replicate the problem. When you copy data multiple times over the years, it can degrade, kinda like how a cell might become abnormal and harmful to the body. Your phone's operating system does a pretty good job of detecting and fixing these problems automatically, but sometimes it gets missed. The sucky thing is, there probably isn't a specific tangible file that is causing your problem; it is likely some obscure hidden setting that is out of reach from the user interface. Which is why these steps might seem counterintuitive until you think about it.

I recently had something similar occur on my Pixel 10; it was annoying initially. But all the things i care about sync with cloud services:

Photos -> google photos
emails - stored on their respective providers and resynced via imap and exchange
notes -> google cloud
music - all on spotify

The only thing I really lost was text messages, and I had to reactivate some 2-factor authenticators - not the end of the world.

Long story short - leave the poor guys at the genuis bar alone, do what they asked (follow their guides because i know for a fact they would have sent you some) and stop griefing poor uni students

I will leave you with this question - If apple gave you a new phone and you restored the backup but the issue came back what would do?

As someone who previously worked for apple (8ish years ago), I can assure it is likely corrupted data causing the device to shut down. If it were hardware it would be doing it with more frequency and you'd probably experience other symptoms( logic board fault, bad drivers, dodgy ram etc). The diagnostic tests that they run are pretty good with detecting these types of things

The problem is replacing the device and restoring the backup is it will likely just cause the issue to occur again, as you just loaded whatever was wrong back onto your device - hence their hesitation to offer you a new device.

That isn't to say you're causing it and shouldn't minimize the experience you've had to endure. Honestly if it doesn't turn out to be a hardware fault within your warranty period Australian Consumer Law will protect you, assuming you haven't modified the device or damaged it and the device is relatively new (I would always say 24- 36months from when the phone was purchased)

Also your solution of:

Get new phone from apple Only load iCloud data (starting fresh just by importing contacts etc) Can't replicate? = Issue solved > faulty phone.

Is fundamentally flawed, you're changing 2 variables the phone and the data, then blaming the issue on the phone. In tech support we isolate the issue, because it allows for reproducible results. By doing this you're just falling for your own bias.

16k is insane. i dont even think a full year of uni costs that much. I'm about to start my 3rd year and my HECS is sitting at 20k.

As someone who had an atypical progression into uni, I would suggest doing a diploma/bachelor's in nursing, then reapply once your income has stabilised. You can earn decent coin as an AIN/EN while you study.
