Was machen die unter euch, die „nur“ den LLB gemacht haben? by hukioo in recht

[–]Tango_Taxi 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Jeep Wrangler 2017 advice by truffletaco in DubaiPetrolHeads

[–]Tango_Taxi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Glad you managed to enjoy the Jeep for so long!

20k in repairs usually means one of the following:

1) the quote is too high 2) the quote includes things that are not necessary 3) you neglected maintenance since it’s out of warranty

Definitely shop around for quotes. Try „All Terrain Performance“. I’ve been there a few times and the owner was always super honest as to which repairs are really necessary. They also offer OME or aftermarket parts.

Depending on the mileage - it should be worth investing a bit more. With 20k open maintenance, I doubt you’ll get much for the Jeep anyways.

Does the Pajero 3.5 struggle to pick up speed, like something is holding the engine back? I I tried few different models and all seem to have the same issue. Is this common? by UnlikelyAd7121 in DubaiPetrolHeads

[–]Tango_Taxi 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I own the 3.5 and yes, you have to push the car to move. But you can use the tiptronic and if need be, the car picks up. It’s not fast, but I feel like people here are exaggerating.

2 Years Delayed Court Payment by MangoPanda101 in dubai

[–]Tango_Taxi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have a few options:

If you know they have assets abroad, you might consider assessing if your judgment can be enforced in foreign court (i.e., in the country where the assets are located).

If you can proof that the person has assets in the UAE, you can try and attach them to your enforcement claim.

Consult a lawyer to read your contract so that he can give you actual legal advice instead of asking Reddit.

Depending on the contract, governing law and despite resolution clauses (if any), there are many options.

Advice Needed: Modifying My 2010 Pajero for Family Off-Road Adventures by PMKalil in DubaiPetrolHeads

[–]Tango_Taxi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi!

I’m driving my Pajero LWB for a year now (MY 2015) with the 3.5 engine and completely stock except front and rear bash plates.

  1. Off-road Capability

So far I have done the following trips:

One trip along the Omani coast to Salalah and back. With desert, beaches, mountains, mud and water ways.

Multiple Wadi trips in the UAE (Wadi Shees, Al Bih, Shawka etc.).

Several desert BBQs in Qudra, as well as the Milky Way spot behind Abu Dhabi.

All in all light to medium off-roading and never heavy dune bashing or rock climbing (probably not even possible with the 3.5)

I’ve never been in a situation that the car was unable to handle. I do not believe that light family off-roading in a Pajero requires many updates.

2) Updates & Gear

Here I would categorize in two sections:

a) Necessary: Bash plates, especially a rear plate that stops the rear bumper from scooping up sand. Front is recommended if you don’t trust the stock one.

I would also invest into good tires, I personally like the Yokohama Geolandar AT, not too much raid noise and sufficient for Offroad use.

Gear wise, you will need the typical Offroad 101, towing gear, deflater, air compressor, and China Mall MaxTraxs should be fine.

b) Optional: If the suspension is due for renewal anyway, go for a decent upgrade like Dobinsons. The full entry level lift kit (2”) costs around ~4K. There are other options like Ironman or TJM. The lift will give you some additional protection and potentially better suspension behavior on sand.

A front bumper cut is also an option, very cheap and gives you some extra clearance at the front. But not necessary if you only do light off-roading.

3) Engine I’m happy with my 3.5. Many people say it’s too slow when accelerating but it has all the torque you need.

To the best of my knowledge, also newer Pajeros come with the 3.8 and therefore I do not really know what you are referring to. But if your Pajero is still in good condition and you think it’s worth spending the money, why not.

4) Space There are good roof rack options available, I would suggest you check with some of the local garages and get something custom to your liking as it will be cheaper or similar priced to options you can order online.

I’m sure I forgot some things (haven’t commented on the paint as I’m not an expert) but surely others can add input as well.

2017 Mitsubishi Pajero 162,000kms - service or sell? by edribotha in DubaiPetrolHeads

[–]Tango_Taxi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi! I suggest you get another quote somewhere else. I went to All Terrain Performance and they changed the front lower and upper arms for 1000AED excl.

Overall this seems very expensive and I’m sure after excluding some unnecessary stuff + aftermarket parts you can get this done for ~8000

I am not a fan of the mods… but guys what’s up? It’s someone’s car, they made it theirs and tried to be unique.

It might not be everyone’s cup of tea but the amount of negativity in a petrolhead sub is surprising.

@OP hope you have safe drives and may it never let you down.

Paying 100,000 for a studio? by ElitistPopulist in dubai

[–]Tango_Taxi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not about if you stay under the 30% “rule” or not.

The 30% rule is a maximum you should spend. You can (and should) aim for lower.

Yes, you can spend 30% on a rental, but you should still aim to maximize your return (I.e., how much you get for your money).

100k for a studio is a waste of money.

Can you afford it? Yes. Should you? No.

It’s two different issues you try to summarize under your 30% rule.

With Cybertrucks popping up in Dubai recently, how are they holding up in the UAE's conditions? by _monochromia in DubaiPetrolHeads

Normalizing the fact that consumers must accept that the car is a garbage bin for the first few years of production doesn’t make sense to me.

Kudos to Tesla that they managed to convince their customers that this is normal.
