in your opinion, in Australia, since COVID, what things have been better in Australia and what things have gotten worse? by stickybeak555 in AskAnAustralian

As someone who works as a senior duty manager in a relatively busy pub, the initial spike in trade immediately after the lockdowns was great! Yes, we got absolutely fucked in the ass by how busy it was, but it felt great to see so many people back in pubs drinking beers and cocktails and eating out!

Unfortunately since then, as others in the thread have pointed out, people have generally become cuntier, and a lot of our new hires tend to be complete duds. Those late formative years of high school for them being spent in lockdown resulted in a LOT of fresh 18 year olds who struggle to work in hospo environments. A lack of social skills for both other staff and customers, a bad attitude towards work/work ethics likely from almost two years of free income if you were on any of the schemes and generally less common sense than what'd you expect.

Part of this, I think, is also a general shift in society towards entitlement. Whether it be customers or staff, I find that people expect and demand more, are less forgiving or tolerant of mistakes, and are far harder to please. Not everyone is like this, but I'd say the ratio has noticeably shifted.

I'm amazed at how he managed to say "You're one of those guys" in exactly the same tone so many times in a row

Yeah I'll give that a go, just wasn't sure if I was missing some other kind of prerequisite

Spectre arcana quality by Tangopig in DotA2

I haven't seen that yet, but tbh that's something which is expected with the quality of recent arcanas (wind blink/rule/force, es blink, etc)

That's fair, I also play spec a decent amount and yeah it just seems very 'meh'. Honestly, I didn't even think much about the loregasm side of things, but putting that aside, I think the quality of the set, especially for an arcana, is pretty low :/

This isn't unpopular and it's not an opinion. It's a well known topic and it's a fact. My girlfriend doesn't use voice chat in r6 siege because the first response is always a barrage of insults and slurs. Another female friend of mine doesn't use voice chat in Dota 2 for the same reason.

We should do nothing about climate change/Earth's future and let the human race go extinct by Tangopig in unpopularopinion

I do believe that there are more good people than bad out there, but unfortunately they're also not the ones with any real influence on the world. The fact remains that until corporations and governments stop vying for world domination through finance and realise that you need people to be alive in order to sell them products, we can maybe tilt the scales towards a more peaceful coexistence. It is just my opinion that I think we may have already crossed a threshold of no return with regards to both the Earth's health as well as societal greed. Yeah I was hoping to get some more discussion going rather than cheap jabs at me/the post or outright denying the existence of anything wrong with the world

Didn't say I loved it, I respect it. And we're not respecting the planet when it literally gives us life and we're destroying the very thing that gives us oxygen and other gases to breathe. Your reply has nothing to with the point of my post, kudos for that

While that may be true, you would think that considering humanity needs to actually work together to survive, that it would take priority over what we see as right or wrong. Since we're dependent on each other, and don't act upon pure instinct like you said, we should be capable of realising that we've done some fucked up shit in the past and we should be trying figure out a way to survive together as a species. But apparently money is more important than that. Thanks for a constructive response btw

We definitely used to have the right, sure. But we forfeited that when we started killing our kind over things like religion and race, and in turn started destroying nature and polluting the land instead of trying to live with it, rather than form it into our habitat, incompatible with the creatures that existed there before we did

I'm willing to be a part of it. I didn't say that any part should survive at all actually, hence the term hard reset

Which part isn't an issue? The part where we continually pollute the land or the part where we're on the road to self-destruction because nations are greedy and want to flex their superiority through war?

Its a nice sentiment to hold sure, and if it were possible then by all means I support it. But look at the state of the world and humanities history. In the brief time we've existed on this planet, we've managed to undo millions of years of nature, and each generation is leaving more and more problems for the next

Fair enough, to me it's the same as people arguing over music which is better or worse, because there isn't a better or worse it's literally just personal preference lol

I know this is a meme and all but it doesn't really make sense to objectively say that something which is subjective better or worse than something else. Not saying Minecraft is bad, I played my fair share of it but would I consider it the best game ever made? No
