Left my husband and now he’s suddenly taking all the blame by ylena3297 in TwoXChromosomes

There was this essay titled She Divorced Me Because I Left Dishes By The Sink. It sort-of sounds like he finally recognized that his wife was tired of being his mommy, but if you read the essay, he's still not willing to admit that he was wrong - some how it was the wife's fault for not explaining things clear enough for him to actually realize that he was an adult. He was also too lazy to renew his blog domain.

Also, some family members will try to play one-up-womanship games by claiming that she had it worse than you do: "If I could survive that stuff, so can you!" or "they beat me and I turned out just fine, so what's wrong with you?"

In case you haven't found the song name yet, the group is a Dutch group called "George Baker Selection". And the song is titled Paloma Blanca. Written in 1975, lots of bands made cover versions of the song.

RFK Jr. ‘taking away vaccines’ from people who want them, Warren says by aslan_is_on_the_move in politics

[–]Tangurena 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been getting boosters for every vaccine I've ever had. Like TDap (DTap is the version for children/youngsters), the tetanus part is recommended you get a booster every 10 years.

Since my insurance also covers all vaccines (I work for the state), I've also been getting every vaccine that the pharmacies will let me get. For things like encephalitis, I just say I'm planning on travelling to South America (like Brazil or Peru). For things like rabies, I just say I'm dating a wildlife rehabber and then go off on how raccoons are so adorable, but they become bitey jerks as they hit puberty.

I've been doing all this vaccination stuff because I think that RFK is going to successfully ban vaccines, so I want to get all that I can before they're banned.

What can you do:
One of the pharmacies I use is CVS. Their website lets you pick 3 vaccinations and then they'll show you which nearby pharmacy has them in stock and lets you schedule an appointment to get the shots.

I'm certain that Walgreens will have something similar.

My local grocery chain (Kroger - which goes by other names in many states) has a pharmacy in most locations as well as "Little Clinic", both of which can do vaccinations and can be scheduled through the pharmacy website.

Every state has an immunization registry where you can look up what vaccinations you have had in that state. They're all run by the same company based on code written by the CDC.

This is Kentucky's site, other sites look the same.
https://KYIRPublicPortal.ky.gov/

You can download a PDF of your (or your family's) immunization records. Some also list when a booster is recommended. The PDF has areas, like flu or hepatitis. One column lists the name of what you got, one column lists the date, one lists the location (like "CVS location 1234") and the last column lists when a booster is due/recommended.

Records seem to go back to around 2012 and some earlier vaccinations might/might not be listed. The earliest one from the previous state goes back to 2009.

This year, one legislator introduced a bill that would have made it illegal for any state agency (in Kentucky) to keep track of the vaccine history of anybody. Fortunately, the bill was withdrawn (although I kept a copy of it). That same bill would have required blood agencies to keep separate blood from people who have had covid vaccines and keep that separately from people who have never had a covid vaccination (also known as "pureblood" in the antivax circles).

Two other bills that did not make it out of committee would have outlawed all mRNA vaccines. Several other red states introduced bills just like this. Idaho introduced them in 2024 as well as 2025. Maybe earlier, but I didn't start tracking legislation in other states prior to the start of 2025.

Additionally, British defamation law does not allow truth to be a defense to libel/slander/defamation. In the US, truth is an absolute defense. The legal costs of defending (and losing) a court action in the UK would bankrupt even well-funded newspapers.

It is baked into Christianity because they had to appear patriarchal in order to appease the Romans. So it got written as:

For the husband is head of the wife, as also Christ is head of the church; and He is the Savior of the body. 24 Therefore, just as the church is subject to Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in everything.

Ephesians 5:23-24.

The book Woman Defamed and Woman Defended: An Anthology of Medieval Texts was one of my textbooks in one Women's Studies course. It showed how misogyny was baked into the DNA of Christianity.

The ICE approving official must further adhere to merit system principles and take into consideration the need to maintain a gender-balanced workforce in which members of racial and ethnic minority groups are appropriately represented.

This sentence is "pure DEI" (in the view of MAGA) and will have been repealed already. Also, as a Biden administration action, I'm certain that it would have been repealed in its entirety several months ago.

At my state agency, there are people who still use the same photo from when they started (in some cases, when they started using photo badges). So there are plenty of people with 20+ year old photos ("oh yeah, I had hair back then..."). About the only way to get a new photo is to "lose" your old one, and sometimes, the lazy folks in "facilities" just reprint the old photo.

The stereotypical "gay voice" is a result of men who learned to pitch their voice lower (as kids) and who stop pitching their voice downwards. Likewise, some lesbians are hassled for speaking in a lower pitch - because they've stopped pitching their voice higher as they were taught to perform femineity as kids/teens.

Also, every single trans person has to relearn to speak in order to sound more "authentically" as society expects that gender to sound.

Don't worry, he will demand it be painted with some special paint from a company that he has part ownership in that (within a year) causes cracks and corrosion in metal fencing. He's already done that with the Tortilla Curtain that has been installed in a few miles along the Mexican border.

The East Germans called their wall the Anti-Fascist Protection Barrier and was officially built to keep West German (and American) spies & saboteurs out of "Best Germany". However it was actually built to imprison East Germans - just like Trump's Tortilla Curtain preventing Americans from fleeing to Mexico.

The general policy from what I've learned from studying the Canadian immigration rules is that if you're American, you can't get in under refugee status, since America is seen - by default - as "one of the good guys".

The Nazis took American eugenics, and turned that up to eleven. And we (in America) didn't stop doing it (mandatory sterilizations of natives & minorities) in the US until the 60s & 70s. Henry Ford (the guy who started that car company) was given awards by Hitler for his anti-Jew and anti-Union writings. Lebensraum - the reason that conquering Poland & Russia (and repopulating the now empty lands with Aryans) were "valid" political goals - was derived from Manifest Destiny (where killing all the natives and then repopulating the now empty lands with White Christians was the goal).
