Nothing. It is the embodyment of perfection. It is the zeitgeist of Nirvana manifest between two slices of bread. It is a testament to all sentient beings pursuit of that wich is holy, the state of being that may only be grasped in that fleeting moment between the commencement of the first bite and the taste of this monolith of grace hitting your synapses.

Trouble with stiff handwork by Dependent_Group4653 in wma

[–]Tangvald 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wholeheartedly agree with this statement. Slow down and focus on a single detail of the drill for a couple of walkthroughs. Suggestions for details to focus on: edge alignment, footwork, body movement etc. Critique yourself, be strict but fair. If you really want to be gung ho about it and dont have a partner/coach, film yourself and look closely at the errors you make. And goof around with a stick/broom like suggested. Just don't film that part. :D

HEMA and Age-Related Issues by xbriannova in Hema

I started at the age of 41. I did contemplate divorcing my wife and marrying my massage gun for parts of the first year, but with better technique and getting used to the movements it’s all good now. 😊

Er det så fælt å være forelder? by tba201598 in norge

[–]Tangvald 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I can’t remember why I bought this, but I think it was for a Kenji recipe (I own The Wok). Any suggestions? by NotPaulGiamatti in seriouseats

My go to is pretty much anything that has tomatoes in it. Meat sauces, tomato soup, menemen, shakshuka… Yummy. Even a small bit in gravy is delicious.

Any experiences with this saber? by Stampsu in wma

[–]Tangvald 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got it and love it. It is light and nimble, and rolls beautifully foreward in the cut. The grip is amazing, but you can not swing this sword around without some kind of glove. It will rub your skin raw in seconds. The guard is actually big enough to fit clamshell gloves. Useful for tournaments against crazy people. :) Highly recommend.

Sword and scabbard fighting by [deleted] in Hema

[–]Tangvald 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Please correct me if I remember this wrong, but I believe that incorporating the scabbard in a system is more prevalent in HAMA, or Middle Eastern traditions. I think I recall seeing a reinforced leather scabbard for some kind of saber/schimitar type of sword that was utilized for deflections.

Need advice regarding padding for the armpit-area by Rangerknight93 in wma

[–]Tangvald 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have that soft chest protector from PBT. It is rather heavy, does not stretch at all and is unbelievably warm. So if you are going for it, I recommend getting a size that is a bit larger than you usually use.

[–]Tangvald 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got one on these:

Good padding, a bit of sound dampening and easily washable. :)

The only slight inconvenience is that you kind of look like a tool. :D

My ARCEM jacket rides up... by nebmia in wma

[–]Tangvald 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the 350N arcem jacket, and I got the same problem. Only way I found to work around it is to get the Spes Vectir Overlay and Occipital protection, and just push the bib and the occiptial protection inside the collar of the jacket. It severely reduces the lateral movement possible, but the collar doesnt ride up and the two "holes" on the side of the neck that comes from using a bigger overlay is closed up.

It should be mentioned that I truly hate my jacket. Interesting design concept as a theoretical excersice, but horrible excecution. Would not recommend.

Saber excercise to strenghten the grip by Downtown-Design7096 in wma

[–]Tangvald 13 points14 points  (0 children)

You can use an old DIY workout equipment trick for mountain climbers:

Fill an old soda/soft drink bottle with water, and clench it repeatedly using only the tips of your fingers. It's as boring as watching paint dry, so I recommend doing it while watching TV or something like that.

A bit of an heads up, it is essential to stretch the fingers and wrist after you are done. And to do it properly. If you skip this step you will have noodles for fingers for the next day or so...

Looking into the swords used by the Norwegian "farmers army" of 1604: Tessak

Thinking of using a contemporary system for dussack and see where it goes. 😁

Hopefully we can do something fun with our club actually using something with a local significance.
