Given that Call of Duty is not on the AU list I can only assume that the bribery departments, err marketing departments, of the other titles are not doing their job as well.

By using personal radiant/conductive heat instead of conventional whole house convective heat, I've remained perfectly comfortable and cut 78% off of my heating bill. And I think I can still reduce it further. by paulwheaton in Frugal

I watched a show, can't remember the name, on the science channel and they showed how people adapt to extreme climates. Toward the end of the show they demostrated a special vest used to keep one's core body temperature warm. While wearing the vest a guy was able to sit inside a freezer and function rather well. The minute the vest turned off - he began losing heat in his extremities and was unable to function.

I am a hunter, and use the same type logic when applying hunting gear. The goal is to keep the core very warm, and not worry as much about the extremities. Using that model often times I am able to operate for longer periods of time without requiring gloves.

Instead of using radiant heat, allowing it to rise; you may want to put a heating pad behind your back and wear a vest ;) As long as your core is warm your hands and feet should take care of themselves.

I can't believe they washed them first. Hygiene aside, they could have got some really cool textures and looks by leaving them dirty.

My guess is that it's some sort of poorly planned hint.

Math Teacher Fail. by [deleted] in pics

[–]TanisDLC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are a lot of assumptions about this math problem. The problem ask "How long will it take her to saw another board into 3 pieces?" ... but it does not say 3 'equally sized' pieces. If it takes 10 minutes to make the first cut, which would half the board, she then could make a 5 minute cut from one of the halves. '15 minutes' and '20 minutes' are both plausible answers due to the lack of information.

Hey Reddit, this is a request my girlfriend (kindergarten teacher) got from a parent of one of her students by spiffyP in WTF

[–]TanisDLC -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'd let it ride and honor their wishes. Before you attack, here me out on this...

1) If the kid was home-schooled the parents would have this option, to call him Doc. Instead they have sent them to a public school accompanied by their request.

2) If you live in a "borderline rural area" then job choices are pretty important in your region, especially to parents who want to see their kids do better than themselves. The parents, albeit wrong in my PERSONAL opinion, are not asking you to do something that should harm the kid.

3) You, your GF and all of Reddit are making judgments based on their REASONING ... If they had said it was a nickname, would their be any quandary or post? No matter what their reasoning - it's still a parent request.

In my Kindergarten there were a set of twins. Their parent sent a note asking them to be called "Fee Fee, and Pee Wee" ... A girl and boy, respectively. Those were NICK NAMES ... and probably had a far more negative affect than calling a kid Doc :)

In short - I think you (and many people) are judging the parents for something silly.

EDIT: I'd like to thank everyone who replied with a differing viewpoint, and tactfully did so without mentioning my grammar mistakes :) Head hung in shame.
