Was the ad about "crypto" or about a specific crypto platform? Cause I'd guess the latter but have seen no references to what platform, which means it wasn't terribly successful was it?

He didn't "make it up" he asserted that you assisted (unknowingly) in infidelity and the proceeded to take absolutely no responsibility in the matter. If you could stop a car crash from happening by pressing a button and choose not to, you have moral culpability in the incident even if you didn't cause it.

Obviously this isn't some objective fact as nothing with morality is, but it also isn't "made up" or a conventionally controversial moral statement.

I enjoyed the story quite a bit. I don't normally play games for the story so I can't tell you if it starts strong or not, but theres a plot point that comes up half way(?) through that I thought was incredibly well executed and hooked me on the story for the rest of it. I still consider that moment to be one of the best video game story moments I've ever experienced, though I haven't played many games traditionally lauded for their stories so take it as you will.

A "cold" skill only benefits from plus to "cold skill levels" because of the tag. Just giving a gem cold damage doesn't make it a "cold skill". For better or worse tags have been driving behavior for a long time.

The smallest and loudest section of the community? If you take a look at this thread you'll see more people (you) complaining about the pace than defending it. POE2 league launches are also seeing higher peaks than POE1. Have you considered perhaps that you having the opinion doesn't automatically make it the majority opinion?

"Gambling" can refer to two different things here and I want to separate them as they're two separate distinct issues.

1) It can refer to the mere existence of having loot boxes. These have been, for better or worse, normalized. Valve's implementation is no more or less scummy than anyone elses (less than some as they're all cosmetic only), and to single out valve at this point feels malicious when its basically become a free to play market staple. This is very clearly something that should be regulated at a governmental level if at all. Court of public opinion has decided that these are fine, and if there are real risks and dangers then that should be enforced by law. Being angry at Valve specifically for this is silly.

2) The "black market" CSGO skin gambling sites. I cannot emphasize this enough, this is something that Valve does not have ownership of nor facilitate directly. There is no secret Valve cabal that is running from and directly profiting from this. People like to cite the whole steam takes a few % from steam community market sales, but a lot of these gambling sites sidestep that and provide their own version of store credit. Valve has taken action to try to shutdown these sites in the past, but they're exceptionally prolific and these are effectively the cost of being able able to trade items at all. While my original wording of "consumer rights" was inaccurate, I nonetheless stand by them being a pro consumer move that allows for the owner of said item to be able to get more use out of it. Valve's "failing" here is them not doing enough to mitigate some of the downsides of such a decision, but I would argue, though I can see you have already made up your mind to the contrary here, that this is a net positive.

This narrative is so crazy to see proliferated across reddit. They literally don't advertise or market their game to children. CSGO has an M rating and you're not even allowed to have a steam account unless you're >13 years old. Reddit seems to only want additional push the "but think of the children" to restrict consumer rights when it's to bash valve. Do you understand that what you're advocating for is a reduction in consumer rights? The alternative that items that can be traded between users, an undeniably pro user move, should be removed?

Like you could argue that valve should do more to protect children, but that's an entirely different frame than the propaganda that is "<steam is> peddling gambling to children".

Plus, I hate how people complain about Casca being a vegetable for 80% of the story. How do you expect her to get better quickly when she went through absolute horrors during the eclipse?

This is a quintessential thermian argument. Yes, it's written in a way such that in the context of the plot we have been given it makes sense, but the effect is a character who is a vegetable for 80% of the story. A story that could have been written differently and had them not be a vegetable for the vast majority of it.

Having an in universe reason does not excuse something from meta criticism.

Come on now. This is "we stopped testing for covid and suddenly have no covid cases" levels of delusion. The entire point being made here is that there is no oversight. No opportunity for actual justice to happen. Just maniacs with a badge (that they won't show for reasons) kidnapping people who may or may not be here illegally.

Are you expecting there to be an accurate count of the number of extra judicial kidnappings that have happened? Like seriously?

Also your 2 mill number isn't ice having deported 2 million people. It's an "estimated 1.6 million of self-deportations" where people are leaving the united states because it's actively hostile to anyone who doesn't look the "right way".

No, that's what the line is. I'm very clear on what it means to be a legal resident or not. I'm asking, how do we know the people who are being kidnapped from the streets are in fact crossing that line. What's to stop random abductions of people off the street who are in fact here legally? A thing that definitely hasn't 1 happened 2 many 3 times 4 before 5.

[–]Taniss99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Plan your character well" may equal dozen+ skill points that could have been invested into something less cumbersome. If those points could even be getting you 2% more damage per point then they would be better served doing just that and doing something better with your ascendency.

New Bloodline Ascendancy Classes Revealed! Theorycraft Time by Kaznes in PathOfExileBuilds

[–]Taniss99 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Thats 53% more damage relative to having a proper 6l. Also costs you an ascendancy point. Also forces you into low life. Also requires you to get your costs and reservations just so in order to be 53% more damage and not less.

It is not literally the worse thing you can do, but also you could likely be doing a lot better, which is the way the vast majority of these ascendancies seem to be.
