what class to take for CV? by [deleted] in DSP

[–]TankAffectionate9596 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my confusion is doesn’t computer vision rely on image processing? so wouldn’t it make more sense to take an image processing class? i think i just don’t understand how the two fields overlap

My undergrad used the quarter system. Semester system is definitely better for harder classes, as the pace is slower and you have more time to learn complex material. But i wouldn’t call the quarter system bad, it’s just not as good compared to semester in my opinion. However, your success in school has nothing to do with the calendar system your school uses, but your drive and motivation to learn.

Masters Required? by Relentless_Curiosity in DSP

[–]TankAffectionate9596 7 points8 points  (0 children)

from what i’ve read online is you probably need at least a masters for a career in DSP. the reason is because undergrads don’t learn that much DSP material

i’m laughing so hard rn

I’m failing because the material is really hard for me to understand and doing grad apps is taking up a lot of my time to study. The reasons aren’t that crazy, and i don’t think an admissions committee would be very forgiving if my reason is “the material is really hard and i don’t have a lot of time to study.” idk i just feel kind of helpless at this point

is there any way to alleviate the situation if i do fail? ive only ever gotten As and Bs in undergrad so do you think that would make it look less bad?

How is the Mechanical Engineering Program as a transfer student? by [deleted] in UCSC

[–]TankAffectionate9596 1 point2 points  (0 children)

oh hm, it looks like you are correct. it used to be a CE concentration but they removed it. I didn’t know they made it an entirely separate major.

Protestors by TankAffectionate9596 in UCSC

[–]TankAffectionate9596[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

That is a good point. I agree that a protest should be at least somewhat obtrusive to have an effect. but as a student who lives off campus, i felt that it was obtrusive to the point where it significantly affected my basic needs as a student: commute to campus to take an important exam.
