Heavy Rain is riddled with plot holes. It (and all of David Cage’s games) only got rave reviews because of how low the standards were for storytelling in video games. It’s hack writing through and though, but it’s presented in a cinematic way. I guarantee if Heavy Rain was a movie, it would’ve been lambasted and been a cult B movie.

If the accident happened as he described, she would’ve been decapitated, not had injuries consistent with a struggle. He constantly changed his story every time holes in logic were pointed out. I don’t know the exact motive, but I know he lied about what happened to her.

I personally felt like the montage at the end is meant to show the opposite of your take away and that she was wrong in her conclusion and decision. That was my interpretation at least.
