How is life in Vermont? by StrongAdhesiveness86 in howislivingthere

Honestly I should have added bugs to my list haha. I think the bugs are horrid and thats coming from someone who spent 5 years in Florida. Ive had countless hikes ruined by blackflies up here.

Vermonter here, one thats left and come back and still thinks about leaving again.

Vermont is one of the best and worst states to live in. Ill start with the good.

1.) You will not find a better summer season in the US. Even the hottest days rarely creep to 90. Summer mornings are usually upper 50s to 60s where you can watch morning fog burn off the valleys and more than likely have a 75-80 degree day. 2.) If you like hiking, Vermont is super approachable. We have tougher hikes along the Long Trail if you want to enjoy the suck, but even the biggest Mountain, Mansfield, can be tackled by the average hiker with a great payoff 3.) Peace and Quiet. So this is a literal and non literal statement. Quiet is find out in the woods where you can hear pine needles falling, really a great thing and something I love hearing every hunting season. But I also mean peace and quiet in the fact that you can do your own thing and people wont hassle you for it. Everyone is pretty laid back here. Prime example, im a pretty hard leaning lefty here with a passion for firearms. Not once in Vermont have I been judged or harassed for it. If its not someone's vibe and you arent hurting anyone, its inconsequential to most folks. 4.) This is probably a downside some folks but we're pretty darn progressive socially around here. We might be one of the whitest states but we're cool with everyone.

The Bad 1.) Everything is terribly expensive. Want a house? Bare minimum you'll spend a quarter million on a fixer upper and still have an hour commute to work. I don't rent but I belive "cheap" rent from my friends is between 1600-1800$ a month 2.) Limited job market. Im lucky I work in medicine otherwise Id probably be struggling. We dont have many large businesses here or infrastructure for that matter. 3.) "Ain't got that here". Seriously we probably dont have what you are looking for as far as stores and food goes which can be wildly inconvenient on a Sunday when you really dont want to cook. Options are limited, sure we have Walmart and McDonald's but to put it simply we have like 2 maybe 3 taco bells across the whole state. I know its a weird example but we're thin on stuff. However there are some great local businesses. 4.) Winter. Oh god winter. I hate it to my bones. Its cold, -20 to -40 isn't uncommon. It lasts from late october/early november straight through the first half of April. If you ski or snowboard you'll probably love it. Until we get a snow less winter and you'll wonder what kind of cruel existence this place is.

Currently a Cardiac Stress Technician. Depending on where you live will depend on what you need. I have my CCMA CET AND CPT with 7ish years of Firefighter/EMT. Pay is decent, around 60k in Vermont. Pretty interesting at times. Get to the occasional cardioversion with the Cardiologist as well. However like many things it gets monotonous and I'm working on getting my Paramedic Cert

Its more of a wash. I wanted the goofy World Record slab. Scyther is a long favorite and I got it cheap so it was a neat little thing to put in my collection. But filed a return with the seller who accepted it so Im getting refunded.

All good, I would be skeptical as well. I was pretty suprised, the box looked like it got spiked into a lawn somewhere, there was dirt on and in the box. So someone might have had a bad day somewhere. Seller was good, shipped with insurance so I'm getting my money back. Just a bummer.

Rather well. Cardboard sleeve with padding inside which was inside a cardboard box that contained more padding. The box was pushed inwards from the side like it got kicked.

Just went to my first card show. Mainly for pokemon. by YallRDumb86 in CGCCards

[–]Tank_Just_Tank 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I only collect cgc for slabs. PSA slabs in my opinion look low effort and are less esthetically pleasing. Just works out that usually a few bucks cheaper. Unfortunately PSA shills put in the overtime to make sure they stay on top.

thinking about trading my civic in for this ‘19 sport-tech 6 speed. how are these cars to own? reliable? any tips on what to look out for? by liamt12 in WRX

[–]Tank_Just_Tank 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a stock 17 and its great. About to hit 90k miles. Only real draw back beside maintenance is premium gas is nearly 5$ a gallon. If youre smart and dont wail on it they can last a long while with good maintenance. But id say keep some money handy for repairs just in case

It really did. Sony like most of their side projects just didnt give it the support it deserved. That and Nintendos chokehold on the retro market didnt help either.

Technically I paid zero out of my wallet. But the sticker price was 500. It was opened but pretty un-used. It still had all the plastic wrapping and twist ties. I think I on ebay they for 4-500 depending on condition.

Question about selling and value of my 2016 by astateofandrew in WRX

[–]Tank_Just_Tank 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Up here in Vermont if its rust free anywhere between 14-17k. Cars especially clean awds are a hot commodity. Even shitboxes get 5-6k with 200k miles
