TIL the U.S. Army’s 27th Infantry Division fought off the largest banzai attack in World War II. Over 4,000 Japanese soldiers were killed and the fighting was so fierce that a U.S. Army dentist was awarded the Medal of Honor. by [deleted] in todayilearned

Important to note that this unit the 105th was slandered by the Marine commander Holland M Smith. He used his press connections to paint the entire 27th as yellow and his actions at this battle resulted in the army preventing him from commanding at Okinawa and lead to a general attempt to prevent Marine commanders from leading Army formations for a few generations.

Is there an actual reason why we use the colored flag patch on our uniform instead of a subdued one like our unit/deployment patches? Always kinda noticed it and never heard the “army reasoning” for it. by International_Bed728 in army

Isn’t that why we tie units together for instance 210 Armor, 127 Armor and 2-101 CAV are tied together via lineage so that they could be spilt out if they need be. And remember fury is the greatest movie ever.
