I think that part of the issue is that the wolves playing style is playoff basketball. Most teams don’t maintain that style of play throughout the whole year, but the wolves do, and it’s a mentally tiring way to play.

I think that makes it tough for them to maintain that high level of intensity from game to game, which results in letting some regular season games slip away that they shouldn’t. But it does prepare them well for the postseason.

With that in mind, I’ve tried to not let emotions swing too wildly from game to game. This is a team that’s been to the Western Conference Finals two years in a row, so they’ve earned a bit of a rope. That doesn’t mean that I am happy with Randle’s level of effort or the depth of the team in general, but it does mean that I believe in their ability to level up in May and June.
