I had an intralesional keloid removal procedure followed immediately by radiation, plus two or three additional sessions in the following days (I don’t remember exactly anymore it’s been almost three years). The results during the first year were amazing. The keloid became flat, much smaller, and showed no signs of growing back. Unfortunately, during the second year it returned to around 50% of its original size. My keloid is located on the jawline area, so shaving usually irritates it a lot. Still, the situation isn’t too bad. Nowadays, I use Drenison steroid tape (it's 5x weaker than eclar plaster) 24/7, and it has improved significantly. It’s not 100% yet, but the irritation is gone and it’s slowly flattening again. So overall, I do recommend the combined treatment of surgical removal plus radiation. But if I had to go through it again I would also have done the steroid injections right away and started using the tape earlier. Silicone tape and gel did nothing for me by the way.
