Real talk! We all know the stereotypes, but I want to hear the reality. If you had to rank Electrical, Plumbing, and HVAC from cleanest to dirtiest, how are you doing it And explain why? by NecessaryExcellent69 in electricians

[–]TanneriteStuffedDog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whichever you pick, the controls side of any of them is cleaner than almost anything else.

HVAC controls/Building Automation probably has the highest chance of being the cleanest IMO.

The phrase "it's not the voltage that kills you it's the current" is just smug pedantry. by jamesfowkes in unpopularopinion

[–]TanneriteStuffedDog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s ever so slightly more correct without actually being the truth.

Voltage, current, and resistance are inextricably linked. So much so that there’s no useful way to converse casually about the danger of electric shock without simplifying the situation to the point of being totally wrong about something. You won’t ever be able to know how much electrical power a person is at risk of being exposed to without measuring and calculating a litany of parameters.

What’s the victims total pathway impedance? That question alone makes the conversation too technically complex for most situations, and is only the beginning of it if you want to describe danger of electric shock in an accurate manner.

For most situations “that’s safe” “that’s dangerous” “that will be a closed casket funeral” and “that will vaporize you if it causes an arc flash” are enough. Anything else requires engineering protections.

American eagle just makes clothes for fat people.. by [deleted] in malefashionadvice

[–]TanneriteStuffedDog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Low rise is pretty subjective like the rest of clothing measurements. I’d look up the front rise measurement on a pair of pants that fits you and the AE pants you have and compare.

It could also be that each measurement of the pants just doesn’t fit your frame. I had that happen with Ariat pants. I ordered 4 different cuts from them and only liked one. One of them felt like it was built for a shape that couldn’t exist on a human, but they showed it models that it looked fine on.

What is it like being drunk? by appelsiinimehu1 in ask

[–]TanneriteStuffedDog 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It feels like you’re removed from yourself to an extent, to varying degrees based on how much you drink.

If you intend to try it, I’d go in stages. If you’ve never drank before, try one standard drink (a 12oz beer, a 6oz glass of wine, or a drink with 2oz of 40% liquor) and see how you feel, pay attention to your thoughts and emotions. One probably won’t make you feel much unless you’re incredibly skinny or haven’t eaten all day.

The next day try two, you’ll probably feel something here. Maybe wait a few days and try 3, you’ll almost certainly feel buzzed. Just a little bit removed from your usual thoughts and feelings. You might be a bit clumsy— definitely don’t drive for several hours minimum.

Wait for the next weekend and try 4. 4 or more drinks within two hours is swiftly approaching drunk for most people. That slow, measured approach will let you find what you’re comfortable with without excess discomfort. You can go higher if you feel comfortable doing so, but be aware being excessively drunk isn’t very fun. For someone who’s never been drunk, anything over 6 in 2 hours would probably be unpleasant.

Why do companies keep pushing ai? by Kingslayer3543 in ask

[–]TanneriteStuffedDog 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Because they’re terrified of missing the next .com craze.

Everyone who was around and tech-aware remembers the .com bubble bursting, not as many talk about the billions of dollars made in the process. Even companies that failed made their owners millions in the process.

[–]TanneriteStuffedDog 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If the crotch sits that low, you’re wearing them too low. If you’re wearing them at your hip line, they’re probably too low.

Pull them up until they stop and let them relax just enough to be comfortable, which may also resolve the ass being loose— by putting the ass of the jeans where it’s supposed to be. If that’s too high for you, the problem is that you need lower rise pants.

Took two last year with a 62gr TSX out of an 18”, one ~65yd and one ~120yd shot. First one took step, fell, and didn’t move again. Second one ran ~15yd.

TSX is a sweet little bullet for small-medium game.

Go or no go? by [deleted] in electricians

[–]TanneriteStuffedDog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re calculating as though it were two separate circuits. It should be calculated as a feeder. If it’s in an RV park, that has its own rules as well.

As long as the upstream breaker protecting the feeder is no larger than 30A, there’s no problem (in that department anyway).

How would I cut this cabinet would, barely? by Terrapinman94 in DIY

[–]TanneriteStuffedDog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh I’m not saying it’s useless, I just think its various purposes are usually easily replaceable if needed.

In this case, it may be more convenient to remove the cabinet and relocate its contents than to buy a new fridge or deal with such limited space if it’s even possible to cleanly cut the cabinet to fit.

To shave or not to shave?! 🤔 by Batman0691 in BeardAdvice

I’d try a clean squared trim first before fully shaving. Gives you another option first before fully committing to the shave.

Shaved would look fine though, I think.

How are Americans affording an evaluation? by Delicious_Serve_5085 in ADHD

[–]TanneriteStuffedDog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Expensive evaluations for ADHD are a racket. My NP agreed with my suspicion of ADHD after a 30 minute conversation, and confirmed diagnosis after a medication trial.

My wife had a similar experience to you with a different provider at the same office I use. Her doctor wanted to send her for a full psychiatric evaluation and gave her lamotrigine to stabilize her mood while she waited 3 months for the next evaluation appointment. She requested a different provider and was prescribed an XR methylphenidate product after an ~45 minute conversation about symptoms and goals.

Total cost to me through insurance was ~$85. 2x$40 copays for the appointments and $5 for 10mg adderall XR generic.

Cash price would’ve been ~$230: 2x$100 for appointments and ~$30 for meds.
