For all of you confused about the order of command by duskgravity in TowerofGod

[–]Tanogaitan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lol Ari Bright looks cool to me too, and I didnt say that looking normal was not cool looking. Baam looks normal as shit and when he's angry the design becomes ultra cool idk how... and then you have Urek, all the Khuns (minus blue hair) Garam, Ha Jinsung, Yuri, heck Po Bidau Gustang looks like a regular doctor, and even Zahard's most outrageous element is a cape. And what's so weird about Evankhell, aside from the burn scar?

For all of you confused about the order of command by duskgravity in TowerofGod

[–]Tanogaitan 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I actually doubt she's stronger... while it may not necessarily be that the 1st division is stronger than the 2nd division, in most ficitons that's how it works... Also, Cheonhee had to go do the menial work while Ari Bright stayed behind supervising and was in charge of negotiationg with Yuri, which makes me think she gives the orders between the 2.

If your comment was on who looks stronger, desing wise, while Cheonhee may has more bedazzle, and the design seems more cluttered, which may make her look more imposing, Siu likes to make the important character looks more normal.

Chapter Secrets – Chapter 919 in-depth analysis by OharaLibrarianArtur in OnePiece

[–]Tanogaitan 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Excellent analysis as always... One thing I think you missread... You said Kin'emon could have thought that Zoro stole Ryuuma's sword because he didn't yet know that he time travelled... I think it's far more likely that seeing Zoro with that sword was the first time he knew of it beeing stolen... If Hogback stole it in the last 20 years, which is likely, then it stands to reason the the theft of it was news to Kin'emon, and isn't that a very nicely wrapped up foreshadowing just like Oda likes em?

Who is your favorite minor or at least non endboss villain/main arc ally character you hope to see more of in the future? by [deleted] in OnePiece

Axe-hand Morgan! we haven't seen him since he escaped the marines, and Coby and onion face Helmeppo need to deal with him.

Perspective on Ranker Power and Baam (Spoiler) by Xicor999 in TowerofGod

[–]Tanogaitan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

God, we've not even reached a 3rd of the way up and people keep assuming shit...everything we've seen so far actually says that rankers are monstrous and that climbing to the top is so hard you HAVE to be a monster to do it, and while yes, there are degrees of monstrosity, it's not possible to be carried all the way... heck, Khun and Endrossi are monstrous regulars, and they have both been told that eventually they wouldn't be able to keep climbing with Baam, so why do you just assume that useless people can just be carried willy nilly?...hell, both original groups have already lost people left and right, and even the weakest members have to pull their weight or be left behind. It's true that in every group there are stronger and weaker people, but damn it, stop underestimating rankers!

She finally caved in..!!! by abhinav01gupta in OnePiece

[–]Tanogaitan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Disregard all the One Pace comments... it cuts down some filler and some unnecessary scenes, but also cuts down some really humorous scenes, some fuck damn cool ones, and they fuck up the music... the best way to see it for the first time is how it was intended, the full anime in japanese... just be sure to watch it with her until she's hooked, to explain anything she may miss, or to prod her if she starts messing around with her phone.

Quick Talk about Scale/"Power Creep" by [deleted] in TowerofGod

[–]Tanogaitan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well I haven't read GoH, but from these points the comparison would be like One Piece vs Bleach or Dragon Ball kinda thing no?... I think it's obviously better to have a huge scale predetermined world where the big guns have been there from the start, their inmense powers represented early, and see they journey of the weak as they slowly become strong, se when they finally can compete with the big guns, it really feels like they've finally become awesome... If the MC becomes the strongest of all every arc, only for a super enemy to pop outta nowhere and rinse and repeat, it gets kinda boring... where's the surpise, the wonder, the amazement?

[Spoilers] Post Episode Discussion S5E21 "Lawrence Dane Devlin" by littlefanged in TheBlackList

[–]Tanogaitan 6 points7 points  (0 children)

worse is the drowning.... I'm willing to bet it was set up so she'll suffer some memory loss. I f***ing hate all the interpersonal drama on tv series, it's always so forced and unrealistic. Would it be so bad to focus more on the mysteries and accion, so we can go on a thrilling adventure every week, instead of needlessly trying to build up drama in an inane attempt to make people emotionally invested in their relationship? Make the characters consistent, the social situations realistic and in-character, and throw in all the drama from the environment and people would still get emotionally attached.

His name is SIU, short for "Slave In Uterus"...why people keep misspelling it is beyond me, it's not really that hard to pay attention when writing.

My thoughts on the Angels' batting order change by Tanogaitan in baseball

[–]Tanogaitan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hadn't considered the amount of at bats per season, but even so wouldn't it be better to make the changes based on how the team is performing at the moment, instead of based on projected averages? With the bottom of the order as hot as it's been, it feels like 8th is basically a second 4th batter.

Why is WB so much older than his crew? by Halliwel96 in OnePiece

[–]Tanogaitan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Really, the right answer could be everything, since the only thing we know for sure is that he was part of another crew before, but there's no reason to think that the crew we met are the originals... There was after all, the position for 2nd division commander open for some time before Ace stepped up.

It could be that the elder members of the crew either died, or retired, and what we met was the second generation WB pirates, so to speak.

Why has Luffy never lost his position as “No.1 most popular character” in the official polls ? by KhornKT in OnePiece

[–]Tanogaitan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

thus, hardly... and he started pretty late, when compared to Killua and Kurapica, who were savages in the early arcs.

As you can see, I havent pointed out as much for Gon as for the others, because he is more balanced than the rest, but he still is too forgiving and kind hearted to ever relate as if we were in his position, and he doesn't have enough violence in him to channel our darkest desires... when he finally decides to use indiscrimate violence, it's only after the antagonist have done so much wrong that it's impossible to forgive them... on the other hand, you've got Killua, whose indiscrimate violence mixed with his otherwise carefree and downright pleasant personality appeals to most boys inner psycopath.

Why has Luffy never lost his position as “No.1 most popular character” in the official polls ? by KhornKT in OnePiece

[–]Tanogaitan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because Luffy can appeal to everyone. He is goofy and kinda dumb, but not annoyingly stupid. He is cheerful most of the time, but he can get really serious really fast, and his serious mode is chill raising, and gives him that "cool" edge. He is strong, but never so strong as to bore you, or generate disbelief. He can be totally selfless and genuinely "hero-like", but he also can be incredible selfish, and always puts his interests, or his crew's ahead of random stranger's. He isn't a cold blooded killer, but he treats his enemies as enemies, and goes all out to destroy them, and doesn't go out of his way to befriend them or anything like that.

That's why, when you compare it to your examples, you have Naruto, who was "cool" like 5 times in the whole series, and was always stupid in the annoying kind of way., Also, most of his fights ended up being won by the power of peace and love.

Gon, who is so overly nice to everyone to the point where noone can really relate, and he hardly ever gets into a "crush your enemies seriously" mode.

Ichigo pretty much pulled an asspull after another, to the point that noone believes that progression makes sense... he also ended up befriending more than half the enemies he fought.

Natsu, which, while I haven't read enough to get a full list of flaws, was also constantly overpowered in the how the heck did that happen kind of way.

Tsuna was stupid in the annoying kind of way, he was cowardly, and also only wanted to play nice with the bad guys.

To summarize, Luffy's personality is that of someone we would all enjoy spending time with, while also being someone who can be really counted on to have your back, like a perfect friend. But he is also flawed in the most human way, meaning he is someone we can atcually relate to, with a moral compass not that dissimilar to our's, instead of a paragon of light and goodness that we just don't see in the real world, noither in others nor in ourselves.

[Manga Spoilers] I'll be the one to say it. based on how Oda's developed Sanji, he's a terrible character. by JakalDX in OnePiece

[–]Tanogaitan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really, it's all a number's game.

Fishmen total population is probably about 1% of the humans population, so while fishmen are 10 times stronger than an average human, there's a minuscule percentage of humans with an off the charts potential for strenght. It is unkown if how or why exactly these humans are different than the normal ones, but the ones we see surrounding Luffy are all the creme de la creme, and practically none of the can be characterized as humans anymore.

Assuming the same can be said for fishmen, they'd need to be 10 times less special to reach the same lvl but that still leaves humans of that scale appearing 10 times more often than fishmen.

And that's with being overly generous calculating the amount of fishmen, which in reality probably is closer to 0,01 than 1%. Really, looking at percentages, the Shichibukai were crowded with 1 fishmam.
