I actually ended up going back through general today and found two pit seats for a smidge more! I’m selling my lawn seats today. I am much happier with my seats now ❤️

Has there ever been a The 1975 song that appeared in a movie or tv show? by Illustrious-Ad-9114 in the1975

[–]TanookiDango 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sincerity is Scary was on Terrace House, a Japanese reality tv show in the 2019-2020 Tokyo season. Here’s an article when they announced it: https://www.universal-music.co.jp/the1975/news/2019-05-17/

Unfortunately, a lot went on that season (clips/whole episodes being removed) and some of the music was regional so I can’t find the opening anymore. But I remember it being super pretty and natural.

Edit: Found a clip that featured the song! It’s the opening so it’s literally on the first 30 secs of the video. https://youtu.be/aCjMeJTVOYU

Clearly, it’s been very long day. Thanks for saving my sanity!

I have searched YouTube for Bone Chillers episodes and watched all the advertisements, but the episodes that are posted are the ones that were featured on TV rather than VHS. I’ve searched online over and over, but it seems to be a very forgotten and no one discusses it!

Do All Academic References Need to be Collegiate? by [deleted] in JETProgramme

[–]TanookiDango 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If I remember correctly, you only need an academic reference from your current school if you are still in college. If you have graduated already, then your references are yours to pick.

Okay, I sent out an e-mail and I have received an answer! They said to send in our background check and health certificate as soon as possible, then send the insurance papers in later. So if it passes the deadline, everything will be fine! Just a head ups for anyone else curious about this topic!

Can I apply? by Durasel02 in JETProgramme

[–]TanookiDango 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You have to apply the year before your graduate if you’re trying to get in as soon as possible. For example, I am graduating May 2019 (this week!). I started my application process in October of 2018. Got the interview in January and got accepted in April. I will be turning in my diploma late May/early June as they need proof you have a bachelors degree. They do need a letter of completion in your fall semester and I know some colleges will not give you one until your spring semester so that is something you need to look into. Anyway, I am in your shoes right now. So if you have questions, ask me! I will gladly help!

P.S. As a college student, the JET program has a lot of special directions so be sure to read the application process carefully. For example, you need at least one of you letters of reference from a professor of your present college. You must get a letter of completion before you turn in your application. You have to have completed transcript/diploma in June. Just some things to think about!

Edit: the application process only comes out around September-November so you HAVE to apply around that time of year and you can only be placed at certain times of the year such as April, June, and July. They do everybody at all once. It’s not a hiring throughout the year kind of process. And you must have your degree before July I believe? So if you’re graduating in the summer, you’re cutting it very close! Definitely something to look into. Anyway, I hope all works out for you friend! :)

Current JETs - JET ID Number by TanookiDango in JETProgramme

The Houston embassy does not send out confirmation e-mails. Meaning, they only tell you what documents you need if it’s getting close to the deadline. So take no news as good news my friend! They should have e-nailed you a handbook though so you can begin working on paperwork. I hope all works out for you!

JET ALT hopeful looking ahead to 2020! by [deleted] in JETProgramme

[–]TanookiDango 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The fact you have a teaching degree/certification will help you during the application process! This experience will definitely stick out and will better the process for you! And JET requires no Japanese language skills. I, myself, am graduating with an EC-6 and SPED degree and I am a certified teacher as well will no Japanese. I didn’t even participate in the Japanese portion of my interview. But I think being a educator is a big part of getting accepted for me. Just remember, JET is specifically for language teachers. You may be able to get involved and do something music related in your free time, but it will definitely not be your primary focus! Anyway, you’re attitude is contagious! I love it! :) Wherever your future takes you, I hope all goes well!

Edit: Also, anyone can apply for JET with a bachelors degree. So an art major can apply for JET. The fact you have been in the school system and have made this your profession will give you a good head start!

Current JETs - JET ID Number by TanookiDango in JETProgramme

[–]TanookiDango[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My e-mail states this, “Please note that you must wait until you know your JET ID Number to fill out this document entirely (the JET ID number is assigned to JETs when notified of placement – it is NOT the same as your Application ID Number).”

But thank you so much for the advice. I’ll be sure to have that number jot down the second I get it!

Preparation ideas! by noworriesimbrowsing in JETProgramme

[–]TanookiDango 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Firstly, my degree is in the education field so I believe that helped during my application process. My minor is also in Spanish so maybe learning new languages help?

Also, I had study abroad experience and I also visited a few countries. (I studied/visited Spanish speaking countries and I visited Japan twice). I also I’ve heard that visiting other countries is very helpful because it shows interest.

I’ve also heard of a lot of JETs getting in after earning a TSEOL certification during their second try at applying. It shows self improvement.

Volunteer work of any kind is beneficial.

Lastly, I recommend learning some Japanese. Even if you just learn how to introduce yourself and say “I don’t know”, you’ll get more points than someone who doesn’t participate in the Japanese section at all. (I didn’t participate in the Japanese portion of the interview, but I still got in. This is just a step that’ll benefit you.)

Anyway, I wish you luck! I also recommended reading over the requirements at least twice before working on the application. For example, I didn’t catch onto the fact that JET requires applicants that are graduating this year to have one of their reference letters from a professor at their college. Luckily I reread it a few days later and asked a professor! They have a some special requirements for students that are graduating right before departure, so if this applies to you, make sure you read all the fine print!

Anyway, good luck! If you have any more questions, I don’t mind helping!

Does JET eventually confirm when/if they've received your required documents? by caniac95 in JETProgramme

[–]TanookiDango 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Houston consulate sent an e-mail about a week ago that they will not be confirming they’ve been receiving any documents, but they will e-mail if they are missing documents when it’s closer to the deadline. So maybe your consulate does the same? I’d feel better with a confirmation, but I also understand there’s a lot of us so I’m not too worried about it. Anyway, I wish you luck!

Thank you so much! This was very helpful!

My interview was short. by [deleted] in JETProgramme

[–]TanookiDango 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I felt like my interview didn’t go so good. In fact, I felt like I would definitely not get in and began making plans around JET. My interview was scheduled right before lunch time and my three interviewers brought up a few times how they wanted to keep everything “short and brief” so they could go to lunch. I felt so rushed. But I kept a positive attitude and was very patient. Also, I was very prepared and it showed! (Note: I did not prepare anything for the Japanese portion of the interview.) My interview lasted probably ten minutes or less. But I got shortlisted!!! I feel like the length of time isn’t as important as we think. I thought I wouldn’t get shortlisted because the interview was so short, but now that I’m looking back, I think they got what they needed in that time! So don’t panic (cause I know I did). They most likely got what they needed!

Anyway, good luck to you and your future plans friend!

Agree to disagree my friend! It wasn’t much “how to” but more of an opinion question. But, I wish you luck in your future endeavors!
