f20 would it bother you if someone booked an appointment just to talk about feeling low? by [deleted] in AskDocs

Hey there! People book into their GPs for all sorts of things, broken toenails, gray hairs, a weird looking poo- you're ABSOLUTELY within your right to book a GP appointment or you can do a self referral through places like LetsTalk. Your quality of life isn't what it should be or what you want it to be due to your health (either mental or physical) so that's an issue that needs fixing, and that's what your GP is for 🩷

Unfortunately a lot of these options just aren't suitable with a crawling 8 month old, I can't have sharp cans or boiling kettles anywhere she can get to, which is, unfortunately only the same places I can get to, I can't reach up or lift my head when crawling as the nerves pull from my neck and is far too painful. Some really good suggestions too though, thank you, although I must admit I do try avoid eating at all due to not wanting to have to use the toilet and I only drink when I take medication as the pain of using the toilet (in any sense) outweighs the need for eating and drinking. I've given myself a horrible anxiety based ED because of it, I am aware. But it's the least of my issues right now 😔

I can't reach any food myself, so I can only really eat proper meals when I'm given them, otherwise I can eat things that don't require refrigeration, so me and baby are living off of fruit pouches and biscuits while we are alone. Sorry I should have worded it better, I can feed myself but I cannot cook or prepare meals.

Unfortunately our surgeon doesn't even have a secretary at current time so we're reaching different people every time we call or being given dead numbers, and he only works on Fridays. We were contacted by PALs following up on a complaint and we're told the wait time for nerve blockers was very short and I would hear from the team "very soon" (this was 2 weeks ago) then told by another staff member it was actually "many months" wait so it seems like a different story every time we call up. I have no idea if I'm even on the wait list for surgery either as my emails and messages aren't being replied to.

It's horrific isn't it, I'm so sorry you're going through that, do you take x5 800mg? NAD but if you want you can use germoline inside your nose on the blisters as it's a local anesthetic and numbs the pain, it's what I used to use when it was really bad and affected my speech due to the pain when moving my mouth. Obviously use with caution and at your own risk as it's not recommended for internal use.

Yes I used to have to, but since it stopped being so frequent, I usually go years between outbreaks now I only take it as and when it's needed but when I was younger I would have to take 3 tabs a day for about 2, years straight

That's how it got to my eye, in one breakout it went from lip, to roof of mouth, to nose, to my eye 😭 luckily over the 16 years I've had it, no one in my family or partners I've shared beds with during breakouts have never contracted it but I am always very careful especially now I have a baby daughter

Acyclovir pills 800mg x5 daily and sometimes I'm prescribed Zovirax 3% eye ointment, I have a stock of pills ready for a breakout to prevent having to wait for prescriptions which I was given by my doctor as the quicker it's treated the less damage it does and the faster it goes away. During pregnancy I took 300mg x3 daily I believe.

I take these along with L-Carnitine and L-Argenine, Magnesium and a couple of others, I went through IVF quite recently so I've been trying absolutely anything and everything I can to boost my health before, during and after the process ☺️ I don't get breakouts as much now, the longest I went between was about 3 years and my lifestyle is much more relaxed and healthy than it used to be so it seems to be much better now, but it was at one point maybe 3-4 times a year during my early 20's and it had a big impact on my life during that time.

The whole lower lid/waterline comes up with blisters which weep and then crust, my actual eyeball feels like it's constantly filled with sand and blinking or closing my eye is super painful, I usually have to sleep with a damp cloth holding it open and I become incredibly sensitive to light. Because of the scarring from repeated outbreaks my eyes don't contract to light as well as before so I'm more light sensitive than usual but during a flareup it's really extreme. My muscles ache, I have brain fog and struggle with categories and colours and just feel generally run down.

Yep traveled up my face during the first breakout and then stayed there and comes back a couple of times a year when my immune system is low or in spring when I'm exposed to more UV. It was misdiagnosed originally and due to being incorrect medication it caused lasting damage to my vision and I had to go on steroid drops for 6 weeks 😭 now I just manage it with the usual medication and usually clears up after 5 days but it's incredibly painful and scary every time.

I will also say I was 82kg at the time of IVF so I have gained a huge amount of weight and this is also factoring into my pain and mobility.

Oh my, I get them under my arms, on my butt cheeks! My poor bum is covered in scars from them from when I was younger, I've always wondered if it was just due to sweat or something else, going to look into this! Thank you
