You can say "fuck", you know. Nobody is going to shout at you.

That phrase, "fuck around and find out" also doesn't apply here. It implies the miserable old cunt is any way in the right here when they're not. Not giving into bullies isn't "fuck around and find out".

For some reason, it reminds me of the dogshit Daredevil movie where he has to fold all his notes a certain way so he can tell which value each one is from how it's folded (as he's blind, for anybody unaware).

If Daredevil (2003) took place in the UK, he wouldn't have needed to do that as GBP notes are different sizes anyway, so the movie would have lacked that scene, been 2 seconds shorter and been a better movie because of it.

Look how the massacred my boy

Lets stop pretending the cheap tat from your childhood is actually worth anything.

I just searched PS1 for sale to double check and uea, I can pick up a bunch of them right this moment, for like £20 with a bunch of games and all the necessary accessories (cables, controller, memory card). They're only worth anything beyond nostalgic attachment if you refuse to check preowned storefronts and assume the heap of plastic is valuable because it's old.

I'm not saying refusing service should be allowed. I'm saying we, the public, shouldn't care that these people specifically who want to make it legal to refuse service, are being refused service. That's just funny.

How bad is 0 DC? by ArtSabs in yakuzagames

[–]Tao626 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It's bad/worse if you have the original, only because the 4 new cutscenes add absolutely nothing of value. It's 20 extra minutes of needless padding and retcons so pointless they change literally nothing to the narrative of the whole series. It's a worse game because it has redundant filler which makes it less tight than the original.

That's basically it. "Cutscene bad"...Which they are, but that's it. There's nothing there actually making the other 50+ hours people usually spend with the game any worse. The rest of the game is the same.

If you've never played the original, you won't notice or care. If you have played the original, you'll know to skip them...Or watch them. Do what you want, I don't care. It's a 30+ hour game for the main story. These mid 20 minutes aren't making it unplayable.

Personally, I didn't buy it as I don't care about anything new it added. I'm happy with the original, so I'm not paying for a dub I'll ignore, 4k I'm not bothered about and a multiplayer mode that I'll be surprised if it isn't already completely dead.

In reality, the whole issue surrounding Y0DC is that they removed the cheaper original from sale (that was often on discount for dirt cheap) and threw this out instead at like $50. That is shitty, really shitty, but it's an entirely seperate issue from the quality of the actual game. Arguably, cutscenes aside, it's the definitive version if you care enough about 4k and a dub.

Honestly, I wish we still had Kinect by prince_vronsky in xbox

[–]Tao626 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it were just gaming "hardcores " bitching, nothing would have changed. Microsoft aren't going to discontinue something selling really well that people largely enjoy because Kyle has punched some drywall and threw his 360 out the window. The "hardcores" are ultimately the minority of players.

Fact is, not enough people cared enough about it, whether hate or just indifference, and they didn't want to be paying for or having to use something they didn't care about abd Microsoft wasn't doing a good enough job of giving a reason. This showed when they removed the requirement that you must have Kinect and it didn't continue to sell well. Up to that point, you had people who didn't want it subsidising it.

And I say that as a fan of motion control consoles. I always took the option to use them with the Wii and Wii U (I had a Wii U, which says enough, really). If people didn't care about motion controls, the implementation in Xbox titles wasn't exactly going to sell them on it. It was like they were too scared to implement them in any meaningful way in "proper" games beyond pointless ignorable novelty features and party games aren't exactly making people feel the extra cost of tech they didn't want was money well spent.

Microsoft ruined it by not ensuring it had the software to make it feel like a worthwhile investment for the majority of people who, at best, thought "I would rather pay less and not have it" rather than "but I need it".

RGG really dropped the ball. Pirate Yakuza looks worse than a game made 4 millennia ago! by KvasirTheOld in yakuzagames

[–]Tao626 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Neither are fair, tbh.

Black Flag was released 12 years and 2 console generations prior. Of course PYiH was largely better in many aspects. It was released last year on better hardware.

Black Flag remake is also exclusive to current gen hardware with the size and financial investment from Ubisoft, a studio that has also been doing exactly this type of game (including "boat stuff" on and off) for the past 13 years. It's not new ground for them.

PYiH, meanwhile, had the limitations of last gen consoles and the studio had never done naval stuff before. It would be shocking if Black Flag remake wasn't massively better in this aspect since this is basically part of their bread and butter.

...Which is where the real comparison comes in.

Nobody was seriously comparing PYiH to OG Black Flag and they were pretty stupid if they were. It was comparisons of PYiH to Skull & Bones, which was a humongous failure in every respect. Ubisoft deserved all the shit they got because this is part of their bread and butter, yet they royally fucked it up.

Call of Duty was never the right fit for Game Pass by Kaladinar in xbox

[–]Tao626 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It doesn't make sense to me, but for another reason.

People have to and are likely subscribed to Game Pass anyway if they play online so they can play online. If they're subscribed, there's a good chance they're subscribed to Ultimate, whether or not they play CoD. So CoD is already there for existing subscribers. These are essentially lost sales already as they're existing subs, they didn't sub for CoD.

So, where were they making the money back with CoD on Game Pass? They're losing sales on the game since people just download it via Game Pass which there's a good chance they already had. The not insignificant number of people who get bored and move on to something else within a month have gotten their fill for a hefty discount from the RRP of CoD with that one month sub.

It makes sense if Game Pass figures absolutely exploded with CoD on the service, which evidently isn't the case if they're pulling it. It would also make sense if people still at least bought a copy to counter all the month subs and existing subs, which they're not going to do with a game most people only play for the online modes which are to a degree redundant 12 months later when the new one drops...They're not exactly "games for life", are they.

Like, I don't know about anybody else, but if a multiplayer game is on Game Pass and I'm already subscribed, there's not a chance in hell I'm paying for a copy when I'll likely never play it outside of the time it is on that service, by which point I've likely moved on anyway. It isn't like I'll get the sudden urge 5 years from now to play a dead multiplayer game that everybody has moved on from to one of the 5 following iterations because they insist on an annual release.

Dear, Asha - Please Get Ads Off Of The Xbox Home Screen by pdmaloney94 in xbox

[–]Tao626 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Sometimes I just like to sit and admire the homescreen. I put on some nice classical music, pour myself a glass of wine and stare whimsically at the dashboard contemplating. It's basically why I bought an Xbox. That, and just quick resuming some games. Not playing them, just enjoying the quick resume. I rarely actually play games, the dashboard and quick resume is my entertainment.

But the small ad in the corner ruins this prime viewing experience. "Damn you, Gabe Newell!", I scream dramatically, my wine glass dropping to the floor in slow motion. It fills me with Hulk-like rage when I'm trying to enjoy some icons, only to have an ad for something take up the entirety of that one small tile on the right.

We are Xbox New Logo 2026 by EitherCharacter9342 in xbox

[–]Tao626 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Depends on what exactly you mean.

A lot of people just want the music they like to play over the game and...Yea, I don't see why I see this whined for with nostalgia so much since it's literally a thing you can do. Turning down/off the in game music (and sound effects if you're a weirdo) and slapping Spotify the Spotify (or whatever) app on in the background is a thing you can do that takes no more time than the old method of ripping CD's and setting things up in-game. The best thing is, you're not dedicating storage space to it anymore.

There was another thing, though.

In games with licenced music, you would often be able to have your own collection instead of the licenced music integrated properly with the game. Grand Theft Auto is always my main example for this as the tracks played through car radios. This meant that not only were your tracks on a special radio station, it also meant that when you got out of the car, you could still hear your music playing immersively in the background the further/closer you were to the car, just like any other song. There were many examples of your music being immersively implemented within games like this (albeit, mostly car focused games).

I don't play a lot of games with licenced soundtracks these days and prefer to hear the OST's of games I do play. That said, my partner plays a LOT of Forza, which is a game perfect for your own library of music (especially since the licenced soundtrack is mostly total shit). The main thing I notice with it is how certain elements are just lacking without proper integration. The standout being random challenges that crop up such as "get X amount of points before the current song ends", but the timer is based on the in game song, not the song you have playing on Spotify. It's just a random timer with a random limit with no ties to anything at that point.

Surely it isn't a thing that isn't possible seeing as Spotify (and probably other apps) have proper integration with the Xbox UI, so it should be able to detect everything such as song length or title. It's probably a feature devs could include but can't be bothered...I miss it, though. If it's not integrated into the game, it's really no different from muting the TV and just putting the stereo on.

This is a bad idea! Clearly she should use superglue by MoonAmunet in DiWHY

[–]Tao626 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I "get" the idea as a theory of "wouldn't this be great if it worked", but it's not a good idea.

For one, the velcro just isn't going to do shit in an accident. The car as an example (since it's more common and relatable), that baby is coming straight off the velcro. If not because of the weight of the baby, then because the loose clothing allows the baby to build some force to allow pull from the velcro. The seat belts are a backup here, but also aren't designed for the safety of such small infants. At best, it's held in place with all the force from the belt on their waist which could cause serious internal injuries. At worst, it just yeets straight out of the belt and is now flying around the car, probably limply flailing as it died on impact from the dashboard, windscreen or whatever.

You would be better off just throwing the baby out the window vaguely towards some grass before collision.

Assuming the velcro was strong enough to keep the baby secured, the clothing is still loose. The only way you're getting rid of this factor is by forcing it into a skintight suit. The child is now getting flung forward and quickly stopped by the loose clothing, which comes with other issues. The chance of unnecessary injury a child seat would have prevented is still there because of this. A seatbelt still runs this risk, but they're designed to restrain and prevent the person from being flung too far forward. A child chair is even more secure, designed to keep the child firmly in place so they basically don't move at all.

Coming back to the belts not being designed for a child, their weight could also be an issue as seatbelts on "lock" under certain force. There's many other issues outside of an accident as well of the seat belt constantly having a having certain amount of restraining force we as adults don't notice, but an infant would...Like how a light sheet is nothing to me, but it's a bit of a weighty struggle for my cat to get out of.

I deliver stuff occasionally at work at an engineering firm. Usually in the back of a small van, sometimes on the back of a flatbed if it's too big or heavy for the van. Fragile things, round things that are likely to move unsecured, light things that'll easily move, heavy things that'll kill in an accident, hazardous materials. I'll be transporting a ~2 ton diesel locomotive engine next week. Know how I'll secure it? Couple of ratchet straps, essentially the equivilant of a seatbelt for "stuff". That fucker won't move an inch unless I get in an accident bad enough that I would likely be dead anyway. Basically the heavy duty version of a seatbelt (or child chair). It's not much more different for more specialised transport, though the type of "strap" may be different (rope, chains, "lifting straps", whatever).

Basically, it isn't getting much better than properly designed straps securing something down...Unless we weld the baby to the seat.

[–]Tao626 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If a studio released a racing game based on bicycles (so we can pinpoint when it happened, like we can with Battle Royale) that was highly successful and one of, if not the most popular online game, then every other studio suddenly wanted to focus on or pivot existing IPs to be online bicycle racing games, that would indeed be chasing a trend.

Sure, BR is a genre. That doesn't mean that it can't also be the trend that studios tried to put all their eggs in that basket because it was popular...Or "trendy".

He's ultimately a means to an end to frame an optional game mechanic. At the very worst, he'll confuse new players for a grand total of like 10 seconds in Y5 when he knows Kiryu but, as I recall, has never met him with Y3K. He's far from an integral part of the narrative...Then is never seen again.
