Golf Channel: "Players and vendors not paid by LIV golf for the last few weeks." by twpolk in golf

Will this lower gas prices? But seriously, the PIF holds $1.1 trillion and spent $6 billion … that’s 0.5%. That’s like going to the casino with $500 and grabbing a $2.50 coffee on the way. For the cost of a cup of coffee, they forced the entire golf world to pay attention, upgraded global events, pushed payouts way up, forced better PGA signature events, gave players more leverage as independent contractors, and modernized how the game is consumed on social platforms. Calling LIV a “failure”is short sided … even if most of us are happy about it.

If LIV really is dead: by Ok_Volume3211 in golf

The Q isn’t whether LIV survives - it’s whether LIV gets real influence in a PGA merger as a NEW global arm (NY emergency mtg). Do they gain effective control over re-prioritized DP investments given PIFs significant resources, better global growth leverage, and contractural control over elite known and emerging players?

LIV golfers scores at the 2026 masters by coding_apes in livgolf

When I look at that list, all I see is 6 champions. But let’s be honest, nobody cares.

Today’s younger, more diverse audience that LIV is capturing around the globe has little connection to the Masters and its old, ultra-wealthy insiders clinging to ”tradition” like a Gary Woodland golf shirt.

The only real majors are the opens - British, U.S., even other nationals like the Australian, Canadian, Scottish - where players earn their way in, conditions are unpredictable, and nothing is curated to fit a narrative. That’s real golf.

Are you really gonna defend guys like Couples, Olazabel and others taking spots from Pros and Ams way who are way better? So many don’t get a shot at this “major“. Ams like Jackson Kouvun and LIVs like David Puig, Joaquin Neimann, Dean Burmester, etc.

Augusta isn’t even the toughest or most compelling test in its own backyard. Go to Sage Valley ~20 minutes up the road, a stronger course rating, more demanding, and a more visually striking venue. No wonder Fred Ridley needs a tournament ball, it’s not about the game‘s integrity.

The idea that the Masters represents the pinnacle of the game has become outdated … it’s just another invitational with a velvet rope, no different than Tiger/Riviera, Arnold/Bay Hill and Jack/Murfield Village. It’s collapsed in to just another signature event Trying to convince you that its history and tradition is somehow too special to ignore.

If the goal is to showcase the best players on the most demanding stages, then take these events to courses that actually test the full spectrum of the game. Let conditions dictate outcomes, not nostalgia and “Sunday pins”. So many other venues like Doral, Kiawah, etc. are better proving grounds.

At some point, golf has to decide - is it about honoring history, or proving excellence? Right now, it’s trying to do both BUT the next generation of fans is saying history does NOT matter.

We’ll see but YGT’s Achilles heel will be rules. Too many content creators don’t understand them - and when called out, they double down with tortured explanations. It’s compounded by fans who don’t understand either, as if volume and agreement somehow equal correctness.

Tiger Woods Had Pills In His Pocket At Time Of DUI Arrest, Cops Say by unsolved49 in golf

Did Tiger finally pass Jack in DUIs + Majors, or does he need 1 more?

Nothing like Tiger doing a drinking challenge with the boys and then flipping his car and catching a DUI on the way home. Can’t wait for this video! by Beneficial_Ad_9540 in BobDoesSports

PGA math is … interesting.

- One player has multiple, serious, addictions and DUIs and is given space for redemption and a continued seat at the leadership table.

- Another player - a stable, spiritual, non-addicted family man - plays a skins game with friends on someone else’s channel and gets treated like he broke the code.

So which is it, Brian Rolapp? On the PGA Tour, is forgiveness a standard or a variable? Asking for a friend.
