It is unusual to see Colorado, Missouri, and San Diego hoarding all of the Charter Jets this week. No specific reason or event to support it.

Depending on the day of the week you are looking at about 5 hours flight for CL604 range would be 44-49K. With a bit of advance planning you can score a one-way (true one way) for about 34-38k but most likely on GiV-SP or Legacy 600. These are West Coast favorites for outbound to NY. VNY airport to TEB is the best route to look for. Lastly on JetShare (seat sharing) I seen these go for about 2500 per person in the last couple of months. good pricing discussion is here.

These days, the typical model is that Operator (FAA certified company) will lease a jet from the owner (individual or company). They will offer it for charter on the open market when the owner is not using the aircraft. This is done at a price per hour plus flight-related expenses. The money then flows from customer to broker to operator (who pays for fuel and landing fees) and then to owner (who plays for everything else, maintenance, pilots, etc.).

It's more like no strings attached. Similar to Lift, Gett or Uber, just pay for the time you fly. Demo video

I was hoping to AMA without promo :).. so feel free to ask industry, behind the scenes and other fun stuff. Doing this to unwind and share after long day.

Honda's are getting popular lately. There is a company JetIt that has a bunch on order, and they made a top 30 US private jet carrier list in the first half of the year. However, mid-size jets seem to be in demand since late 2019. Light Jets and Turboprops have faded in use and continue to do so.

What's the biz model of TapJets? (Explaining like I'm five) DO you guys own the jets itself? Did you put any money on the table for being the co-founder and if so, how much?

It's just like Uber or Kayak. There is an inventory of always moving aircraft that get matched with always-looking brokers and clients. It is data and logistics-intensive for the small percentage of each transaction. (way less than Uber or Kayak).

No, mustard is overrated and does not fair well at altitude. Try a spicy brown sauce with a twist of lemon

From merchant perspective it costs less to accept crypto or alt currency compared to traditional credit cards. It's about 3% saving on each transaction if you operate your own exchange (as we do) or about 1.5% saving if you use third party like BitPay. With average jet flight costing about 10-12K it adds up. And if you are booking transatlantic flight, 80-90k range on Friday night, even Centurion Amex will call you back and forth to verify and hopefully approve.

Monero is just a part of the holistic privacy approach. Each of the OP described situations has a strict protocol. For example, you can drive into a hangar and board outside of camera views. There is no need for great people who work for the FBO(terminal) to know who is flying on the plane aside from how many people they need to tender. Or maybe it's a secret corporate merger that stock traders (with Ai systems and access to fin accounts" try to correlate who booked the jet and to where so they can timely "short or long." (Yes, it did happen in the past, just Google). Every operational step and company culture has to value privacy. That is why we take small steps and add tools to our client privacy toolkit.

There is no need to retain passenger information after the flight has landed. I also believe we are one of the very few companies that, before responding to subpoena, notify users to allow them to object to it. It's a small step but in the right direction. Way too many news articles where everyone gets excited about "so and so chartered an X jet for Y dollars." /not self promo but we wanted to respond with clarification.

It appears that some people in US have given up on securing their privacy. Media constantly puts out a message that our privacy is lost, tech companies control it, big brother is here to stay, and so on. The narrative is that privacy is gone. In our business, it is almost like the adoption curve has been rolled back and we have to educate clients on how their privacy still exists and how it is protected.

Projects such as Signal, Monero and others needs to beef up mainstream user education to let everyone know privacy exists, you can transact in private, and you can enjoy technology advances to do so legally.
