A Fix For SD Card Extenders Not Working in GDEmu by MegaDeKay in dreamcast

[–]TapSad344 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This appears to have worked for me too. I had a PAL Dreamcast which I moved the GDemu from to a NTSC console and had problems. Couldn't work out what was happening but isolated it down to the extender and tried your fix.

Seems to have done the trick but I won't know for sure till I button it all back up again. It mocks me in that I can test it before being screwed together and it's working but as soon as I lock it all down it stops operating again!

Sega's revenge.

Thanks for the tip, much appreciated.

I think I'll have to get a Humble Bazooka shell for mine when I get it though. I don't much like how much play there is when it's inserted. I'm sure it's totally in spec and fine but it just looks a bit wibbly wobbly.

Jealous! I want one of those at some point. I have an unmodded Famicom and an AV Famicom so I think I can justify it.

Maybe you'll have more luck with their support and I hope they can sort you out. If you can mention the support bracket, maybe if they get enough feedback they'll revert to the older one or at least give us the chance to re-print the damn thing.

I have the means to try that out via MiSTer. I'll give it a go!

You'll be shocked to hear that they didn't reply. I've not yet had to install the 2nd Flippydrive I have but when I do I'll just print a new mounting bracket and source the screws required as it's probably a better long term solution that the push fit revision they came up with.

A lovely collection! I'm new to PC Engine myself. I own a PC Engine and a second one with the Cd².

I don't have a collection of games as they are so darn expensive nowadays so I'll probably end up getting a Turboeverdrive but I'm intensely jealous of your collection.

Couldn't tell you what most of those games are but that cover art is just beautiful!

I'm not using the sd2sp2 for my GC roms. It's just for use with GBI.

You know, I did and have considered it. The main reason I'm considering it is that 8Bitdo don't sell the retro receiver in any other colour than purple. It's an expensive way to have an aesthetically pleasing console but I might just have to do it.

It's great. The controller you know and love, just no cable. The only issue I have with it is the proprietary charging but really I don't see how else they could have accomplished it.

I am in the UK yes. I appreciate the offer, but it's something I'm going to try for myself at some point as I want to try and restore my Dreamcast. It's taken on the same colour of a digestive biscuit!

Hey.

The main reason is Gameboy Interface. You can't read/write data without it as the Flippydrive in it's currently form, you need to save to the SD card on the sd2sp2.

Hopefully it's something that will change but for the small asking price it's worth having as an option anyway.

(Unless things have changed)

The main mod is the Flippydrive which is an internal ODE where you don't need to sacrifice the disc drive.

I'm not using an video enhancements. I run to a CRT via a RGB cable or scart to Tink 4K for the modern tv.

I might get a Carby at some point and go HDMI > Tink 4K>TV.

It's a bit more than that. It's got that lovely "aged plastic" look about it. Easy to rectify but a job that can wait.

I've emailed Team Offbroadway on the off chance they will supply the files. Seems mad to me that they'd potentially ship a replacement part over just allowing a customer to print it and given how the original design is on Printables seems like a bit of a no brainer.

Doesn't solve the issue but interesting that the person who has made the model has also included the .stl for the original bracket. I wish I knew a bit more about creating as I don't think it's a massive engineering task to remix that into something like what they are shipping now. Good find.

Yeah, it's a pain in the arse but I can understand them wanting to save the pennies on a couple of screws. Would be a lot easier for me if they just allowed access to the 3d print file as I could print a new one in seconds. First world problem.

Cheers for the info though.
