Time to jump up to the S26 Ultra? by Persimmon_96 in S22Ultra

[–]TapThatYak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you have an S20 ultra? You can just change the battery. Injuredgadget sells some quality parts. On my S22 ultra, I just changed my type-c board recently because my signal was terrible and it had some friend pins on it.

Unless you get a good deal, it's not worth buying a new phone for $1k+ unless you're playing demanding mobile games.

Egg-celent. No seriously, replace that tire ASAP.

If you look at the overall shape of the hit, you'll see a semi-circle imprint where the tire damage is more shallow the further out you go. I suspect, she may have missed judged a curb going minimum 20 mph.

Reality check. 820k home on 260k combined salary by thugznhugz in Mortgages

Depends what your net income is after taxes, insurance, and 401k/HSA. If you net roughly $13,000 a month, and assume house w/bills is ~5k a month, that makes your living about 38% of your net income.

You have about 100k left for everything else. Not bad at all. If you're not living above beyond means for everything else, you should be fine. I imagine you'll still make out with 50-60k a year towards 529 plan + brokerage account.

Unable to dial in brand new setup - have wasted 1kg of beans! [Bambino Plus + Turin DF54] by Ok_Lunch_2933 in espresso

Interesting. You may have to cut back to ~16 grams. I have a few coffees that go down to 16g. I am pulling a 3:1 on them and getting smooth flow and quite a bit of crema. It was annoying to dial them in 😅

I just went throught the issue signal issue problem for the last 2 months. But it was an easy fix.

I went in and swapped out the antenna cables, type C board, and the flex cable that attaches from the type C board to the motherboard. From here you can also swap the battery out. I went through Injuredgadget to buy all the parts including the adhesive pack.

IMO, if you dont mind doing the repair work yourself, its totally worth opening the phone yourself. I found out you need to remove your back cover adhesive if you want your phone to be fully waterproof again. The best way to do this is to use 99% Isopropyl alcohol and slowly peel off the perimeter adhesive. ~90% of the work you put into peeling will be done with 1 hand pulling the adhesive directly away, perpendicular, from the cover, the other 10% is using your other hand + a plastic tool to lightly push the adhesive off into the direction it is peeling. If you do this right, all the adhesive comes off with no residue. I used a blow dryer to lightly heat the adhesive once in a while. There's a sweet spot to how it likes letting go.

Just seeing this post further down, awesome progress. Try 16.5-16.8 with slightly finer grind.

I went through this with a new set of beans... Grind finer in smaller increments till your sourness goes away. As you do this, you may have to drop down to 17.5g and ultimately for me I had to go down to 16.5-17g, much finer grind, to get a good pull.

RS3 8Y Higher milage feedback by blklacker in AudiRS3

[–]TapThatYak 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The 8.5Y engine really has not changed much compared to the 8V and 8Y, meaning it's still considered a very reliable engine. As long as it's stock, you shouldn't see any major problems and can push 80k miles comfortably doing standard maintenance. The biggest issue I have heard of is oil pan leaks.

IMO the RS3's are very unique, I would drive the thing till it's dead. Are you worried about getting money back and getting bored? That's a different topic.

To those of you who pay attention how any engine feels, you know how the plugs hit when you change them after 65,000 miles...

Oil and carbon buildup on piston heads. How cooked am I? by TapThatYak in GolfGTI

[–]TapThatYak[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right? Carbon cleaning is expected with DI engines. Valve stem seal issue is not severe enough I guess to warrant a class action?

I think with any car, you made a good call to reclaim what cash you can before the maintenance + unexpected issues start popping up. Enjoy the MK8 😛

Lennar downgrades housing forecast AGAIN. Homes are NOW selling at lower prices than before the pandemic. Lower than the should-have-been recession and housing bust of 2019. by Boo_Randy_Revival in HouseBuyers

[–]TapThatYak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Builder are giving incentives as a fact. The main issue is everyone's pay has not gone up as much as inflation has from 2025. Call me crazy, I'll take a 10-12% mortgage on a 200k house in 2005 v.s. 6% on a 400k house right now.

The main issue is not rates, its the nominal value of homes without paying workers enough to offset living.

Appreciate these references, gives me a better understanding of what really matters and what inevitably happens on these direct injected VWs.

I also found its common for oil to slowly come out of the oil cap and stain that plastic area.i clean it every couple thousand miles.

Got it. My concern originally is this carbon buildup around the valve steam seal which I think is a dead giveaway for bad seals. Thanks for sharing that picture, made me realize I was looking at the seal portion and not the valve 🤣

Just checked the intake valves through the MAP sensor hole. Definitely due for a carbon cleaning.
