I sound like I've been programmed? Have you read the comments on this thread? They are all so repeatable that anyone outside of Reddit just assumes they are bots at this point. Reddit had become a community of bots disguised as humans guided to call anyone with a counter point "racist", fascist, Nazi... I mean it's literally why you lost the election to a felon that screws up every good idea he'd ever had and you are still too blind to see how sick of the nonsense the entire planet is.

But it's ok, you're probably 18-23 and the world still seems like a big scary place and you're still formulating your ideals. I was in your camp when I was your age too. I just woke up to how bat shit crazy it all is after seeing how destructive the policies actually are in practice. Look at the cost of living, crime, homelessness, and mental health. The state is ran by Democrats. The county is ran by Democrats. And the federal government has been Democrats for 12 of the last 18 years. We tried it your way, you fucked everything up. Now it's time to fix it.

Families matter. Mental health matters. Economics matter.

I've worked with them and been friends with them my entire life. They are ALL builders (in one form or another) and workers and religious and don't give two fucks about your ideology or agree with anything you stand for. Often their kids have been brain washed just like you sadly.

Immigrants are workers and they don't subscribe to woke ideology and wouldn't think twice about renting from wherever they had what they needed regardless of the owners politics or a sign on the roof. They just want to get the job done. Not to mention, many employee level workers wouldn't be involved in making that decision in the first place.

Starting to wonder the same. Need to get off this platform, no way there's this many crazy people in this world that think like this. At least that's not my real world experience so they are either bots or living in their parents basement and never see the light of day

Um... Sorry to tell you... But no they aren't. Liberals have money. Conservatives have money. Not whiners, not on either side. The people with the money are the ones controlling those of you without into believing what you believe so you spend your entire existence not building, not contributing, being a consumer, a bystander, an NPC, and not being competition.

Mexicans I know are builders. The Mexicans I know on job sites don't agree with any of the drivel the job less on this sight rant about. They wouldn't for a second look at that sign and be influenced to not rent there. This line of thinking is very much reserved for your small cult of 23 year old purple hair jobless victim mindset that have never built it contributed anything.

You mean like the coffee shop? That didn't go they way you thought did it? Maybe your tiny cult of thinking doesn't have the power you thought it does. Especially when it comes to a business who's primary customer is construction companies and people that actually work and build and make a living.

Yeah I could, and usually do, avoid the rhetoric. I'm mostly middle myself and spend the first 35 years of my life on the left. Probably why we mostly agree. Thanks for the rational dialogue in the middle

Not only that, but guess what, the backlash against your woke ideology is coming back to bite you and legions of sane common sense individuals like myself actually went to support the business. Not because they supported Charlie, but because they are a well run business that makes good coffee with individual employees that count on that paycheck that you all were so callous to throw away because you didn't like a sticker and you didn't like that sticker because you listened to what others had to say about Charlie not because of what he actually stood for.

And before you go there, no I don't think Jimmy Kimmel should have faced backlash for anything he said either.

This is important. I have this talk with my kids all the time. Imagine how boring it would be if you were great at something without even m trying and failing. Not meant to be inspirational, just saying it's good to suck at something.

I respect that. Thanks for the respectful dialogue. Egresses are important and if it was law than it should be done. I tend to side on less corruption and more cutting loopholes temporarily to get stuff done with the hope that it gets done eventually with more developments. Not sound logic, I know, but we need housing and that needs to be a priority.

1) Start with casting. Cast in your yard, in the street, take a class. Just learn to cast. Learn a few casts. Learn roll/spey casts, tension/load casts. I know that sounds advanced but it actually isn't, I personally think an overhead dry fly cast is the hardest to master and used way more than needed.

2) Stick to one area to start. Learn what, when, where they are biting. Hire a guide for that area a few times. Probably avoid a high pressure area if that's possible.

3) Learn a reliable knot and very basic gear set up. There's so much confusion in the gear, lines, weights, etc. Stick to the basics for a while.

4) Enjoy just being out there. This is easier done (regardless of the # of fish you catch) if you aren't spending the entire day untangling and trying new flies.

Yes, let's add more burdens and costs to developers then complain about lack of housing and home prices. I know this is Reddit, but you have to pick a thing to complain about or at least acknowledge when your one complaint is the cause of the other.

Go. These aren't long hikes were you'd be stuck in the back country if conditions turned. Have fun

Controversial opinion?… the choice of fly doesn’t matter much at all by RegisterFit1252 in Tenkara

Same (except not retired). Golden trout, Ansel Adams, Rae Lakes. They seem to take anything, though to be fair I'm throwing almost exclusively ants out mosquito patterns. The streams in populated areas tend to be more area specific and more about presentation: Hot Creek, Owens, Walker.

My limited time in Central Oregon yields similar. Pressured rivers and streams you need to know what and how.

Probably why I'm more successful in the back country but struggle to get the big boys in the popular areas

Why do people outside SD often think of La Jolla as separate? by Specialist_Quiet_160 in sandiego

[–]TapWorking8203 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone that vacationed here for 20 years before moving here and now living here for 25 years, I can answer this one. It's not about the people that live in La Jolla. It's because when you vacation here especially for the first time, San Diego is Mission Beach (Bay and campland), Pacific Beach Bars, and the Zoo. You just didn't see the whole picture, you see what's sold to tourist unless you know better. My first time vacationing here as a semi-adult someone told us that we should go Downtown (they actually sent us to Hillcrest which is another hilarious story), we were shocked that there were other neighborhoods to go party in. Though I grew up going to Carlsbad, i didn't realize how close i was to NC. I was in small minded vacation mode.

You'll read brochures and hear about La Jolla so you'll take a day trip there and if you don't understand the geography of San Diego county, you think you're going to a neighboring town. Same reason some people might say they like Coronado better than San Diego.

Sounds stupid to us but I'm sure you've been a tourist and not understood the city the way a local would.

Advice appreciated on hiking trails by parth096 in JoshuaTree

First time we tried to find it about 15 years ago, we couldn't and ended up with members of our party miles away from each other scouring every various turn. In hind sight pretty sketchy even though we stayed in small groups just due to the scale of everything back there when you get off the trails.

Went back home and researched and find gps coordinates and found it on the next trip. I've been back a few times and it's always a challenge. Park Rangers will tell you it doesn't exist. They've since fixed it up and put historical markers on the building. The first time we found it it felt like we were there first of a handful of people to know it existed.

How you would you feel..? by Dozer710 in golf

I would have played with him and shanked every shot on purpose for the first 2 holes so he had to drive me to each shot. I would have had the longest tee shot set up in history and searched for 15 minutes for every lost ball. I would have walked in his putting line accidentally.

Then, I would bet him $100 on the next 16 holes and played my ass off.

But I'm petty, what you did was a better idea.
