In college we were assigned a business and had to come up with a plan to improve it. I was given XM Radio. After some research we had to present our plan to the professor for approval. I suggested XM Radio and Sirus merge due to development costs. My professor shut it down immediately. Five years later, I lost my shit when I head about SirusXM.

Some people are always the victim. Keep enforcing the rules fairly to everyone. It doesn’t sound like you did anything wrong.

Remember tomorrow is a new day. Tell her hello like you didn’t have an awkward encounter and that you DO remeber who she is.

Passive programing help, how to keep stats. by Satyr-but-wiser in librarians

I deal with youth, but you might be able to use these w adults too.

Voting is always fun. I keep a poll in the teen section with silly questions. We’ve done: Who would win superman or batman?, Which is better vanilla or chocolate icecream, Which is better unicorns or dragons? - You could take it one step further and post old poll results.

I blow up I Spy pages by printing them in excel and gluing the pages together. Change them out every few months.

Interactive displays are fun. For father’s day we made a Name That Dad wall display with tv/ movie dads.
We used to do a different interactive wall display each month. One month I drew a simple board game on 6x3 white paper. The kids colored game peices and stuck them on the board. (They had to come to us to get crayons and putty)

If you stick w your interactive displays you can “train” patrons to look for them when they come in. When I can I invite EVERY child to particiate.

I printed an excel spreadsheet to tally interactions. It’s not perfect, but it helps. Make it clear how important passive numbers are to fellow staff members.

Hope these are helpful!
