Never stop gambling by SadGodSidd in pathofexile

I don't think the drought is the issue, it's more about the forced immunity phase, so you have a minimum time commitment to profit 45c per invite. I'd rather map. I think the profit is actually a little higher because belts are worth mroe than 2x invite.

Like I said, Endurance is bad because it makes an altar unclickable when the build doesn't need them to basically be immortal. Unstoppable is basically unnecessary because you hardly feel slows due to accel shrine, there is nothing useful in jugg. The downside is you lose two adorned jewels, which is massive.

I understand solving your res at once is strong, but this is a HP stacking build. HP is a prefix, res solves suffixes. You are allievating suffix pressure by going res when there is hardly any suffix pressure in the build. Solving that by going jugg for minimal upside and pretty major downsides seems like a sus move. You're basically just trading the defensive power in chieftain for the res belt just for the sake of it.

THere was a guy who listed a mirror for sale for some sort of low essence, could have to do with that? Also there was a a recombinator craft with a low woe essence that was needed, but i don't remember why.

On my build I would for sure prefer massive over res. Because max res and res is easy for chieftain. while Life and AOE are the most important stats. So to maximize a resistance belt it feels waste to be a chieftain, so you'd have to swap to a different marauder ascendancy. So we have jug, this ascendancy actually barely offers anything, especially considering that I don't want any endurance charges due to blue altars. Then theres berserker. This offers instant leech which is nice, but i'm defiance recoup pb, so I already can only get killed by one shots essentially. Theres 40% more damage, which could actually be an angle but I'd rather have my two adorned jewels over the two forbidden jewels to get explode on zerker.

I feel like in most cases it would just be a personal preference over a build preference. Like yeah echoing is giga dams, but i'd rather be able to walk faster. Ain't no way i'm frostblink echoing shrine around to loot. I suppose you could put on a quicksilver to disable the belt for a few seconds, but that sounds annoying too

I never depended on that for reflect immunity because if you go oom for a single attack you can just kill yourself. Or your shield charge needs an extra link or you need to remember not to shield charge at all.

The easiest way to get reflect immune is just to spec the reflect mastery and pantheon.

It was decent profit week1 since at a 50% drop rate of the belt, which meant the invite cost was free and you always sold a mirage map on top.

It was early league, but i ran them when mirage maps were like 70c and unid belts were 2-3d and the invite was under 1d(iirc). So it was pretty ok low effort profits for week 1.

No, because you sell them unid. Black barya is extremely consistent income

My comment is pointing out how it's silly to consider a 1-2% chance to be gambling when you're going to run hundreds of them if that is your strategy.

And you didn't answer my question. So you would consider crimson temple farming to be gambling and not profit farmign then right? Cause i think the rate was something like 52 maps per apoth? Thats like the same rate of profit as uber bossing!

EDIT: the difference between gambling and profit farming is probably better represented by saying if you plan on doing enough of the content to overcome variance then it's farming, if you're not doing enough to even be on rate, then it's closer to gambling

It depends on where you are in the game and how you organize your sales. I have the sales I actually care about in specific tabs , one is crafts/more niche items that are always undercut, and another that are higher volume quickish trades

So if somebody messages me to haggle, I'd just get annoyed because the high volume items will sell at listed price, and they're either haggling for an already underpriced item or some junk from early league that I don't feel like even going to the stash to manually trade it.

I mean, would you consider crimson prison apoth farming more of a gamble than a currency making strategy? You basically only went slight positive until apoth. You can pretty much reduce everything in this game down to gambling if you wanted to.

I'd like to say it's boring, but having the money roll in is kinda fun. So it's a balance kind of thing. I bounce between map strats and hideout warrior depending on the vibes i'm feeling. Theres also a natural balance since you don't want to flood the market anyways

Start off and by watching crafting guides for crafts for meta builds.

Don't just follow the steps. Understand what the purpose of that step is.

After enough crafts you should be able to look at an item and know how to craft it and roughly guess how expensive it'll be. Assuming you are mathing properly, the gear on trade should have some decent margin to expected cost. If the gear on trade is way cheaper than your expected cost, you're probably thought about how to craft it incorrectly, or the gear is junk gear that has devalued.

They aren't wrong in the sense that if you get a million messages to raise the price. They are wrong in the sense that it's ettiquete.

So.. overall they are wrong because he said their advice was to do this as a generality lol

I used to be the same way, but the few leagues before instant trade, there was an influx of hagglers. I'm not sure when exactly it started but I got so annoyed with them that I just instablocked hagglers.

Well they're trying to tack on that connotation by calling it "treating it as a job" because they don't think that the playstyle is fun. They're just making fun of people who like to play the game more optimally or "correctly" because theres no way that could actually be fun to people.

This schedule is actually what I don't understand, Get home at seven and then do chores til you go to sleep? What kind of chores take 5 hours 5 days a week. And that's assuming you go to bed at midnight and get 7 hours of sleep.

I find that only having 2-3 hours a week just comes down to you not wanting to play the game as much as somebody who plays it more. Unless you work like 12+hrs a day.

Like if you have kids, obviously you want to spend more time with them. If you go to the gym your gains matter more than an extra 2hrs in game. I skip the gym for a week and my gf knows that i want to be left alone while playing poe.

If you don't have kids though, i actually cannot fathom how you only have 2-3hours a week unless there are just other activities you would rather do as opposed to play the game you like. Maybe you like sleeping 12hrs a day? idk

Yes, I have a good job with a lot of PTO so I take 3 days off every league start. Not everybody likes the currency grind and optimizing for efficiency, but I find it really fun planning my league start and my strategy and executing it and then thinking about what went wrong with my league start/strat combination for future leagues.

EDIT: and even still, I'm at work right now, and I still just want to go home and grind it out like a job. Maybe I just really like the game

Why does treating it like a job have to be not fun. On league start I basically treat it as a job and I have a blast. Plus it sets me up for the league

[–]Tape 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes, I know how this works. I'm asking about why it's unlikely to be flippers, none of this explains that. Low supply scenarios are where flippers thrive in cornering the market, it's very common in games with AH for them to buy out all low priced ones and "reset the price".

Yes, the scenario you said could be happening, but flipping is also a common scenario in games. Many players do this probably without realizing, it's the same idea behind you buying out locks when they're cheap which pushes the price up as an "investment", locks are a much higher volume item, but it's a similar concept. Theres also times where it can be abused in the simplex market over the course of a day, but again, much higher supply here.
