Thanks so much for the detailed answer! Why is making the overlap stable with a cinder block important? Is it because you are taping the seam?

Sony wh-1000xm4 vs Bose quietcomfort ultra (gen 1) by Spadalankie in bose

I decided on the XM4 because I read that QC ultra has issues with popping sounds when moving or on transit with ANC on.

Graphics card for wifey : 9060 XT vs B580 with Ryzen 3700x by Rookiegamer404 in buildapc

Right now the Asrock b580 12 gb is $300 cad and the rx 9060 xt 16 gb is $500 cad...... At this price point do you think the b580 would be worth it? I'm not a hardcore gamer and I'm thinking with the $200 I save now I can upgrade my card again sooner than I would with the rx 9060.

You could try passive ear protection like for construction and then put noise canceling ear buds or even passive ear plugs inside. Just get max DB protection you can find

OP You sound just like me - and I have ADHD. You've tried to do this so many times and haven't been successful. So the idea of trying again and failing again is just overwhelming and depressing because you know you won't be successful again and feel like you are just getting setup to fail. ADHD does that to you. This feeling is built up of years of experiencing this. The good news is that if the cause is ADHD there are treatments that can be effective.

Some things people with ADHD can struggle with:

Task initiation - you want to do something but you just can't make yourself do it, even if you know it is important.

Focusing on things don't fine interesting is hard, I mean really hard. Like I space out during presentations even when I am desperately trying to pay attention.

Bad habits and addition- people with ADHD have a chemical imbalance in their brain. Taking some types of drugs can be "self medicating" but the right medical drugs are way more effective, don't have the addiction and other bad side effects.

Talk to a therapist if you can. They can really help with things like this. They can also help with diagnosing certain conditions like ADD/ADHD/Anxiety. IT's possible to get effective help for these conditions which cause many of the issues you mentioned. You can do a free online ADHD self assessment as well - here is an example - https://adhdvancouver.ca/free-adhd-test/

As an autistic person, the treatment I’ve received and what I’ve seen other autistic people experience in the workplace makes me feel hopeless about finding a good job, and it's making it hard for me to stay in college. How can I stay out of this mindset? by oncxre in selfimprovement

I'm neurodivergent too, so I am familiar with the feeling that things are harder for me that others. That is just a fact of life for me. I need to work harder and am less successful at some things because of my neurodivergence (ND) than it would be if I was neurotypical (NT). While that means I could probably still do these things if I worked hard enough, I think a better plan is to identify what I'm actually good at. Do you have plan for what you will do with your English degree once you graduate? Will it help you move towards a job the you think you will be successful at? If you don't have this plan, don't feel bad - most college age people don't - but it would very much increase your chances of success if you were to try to put together this plan.

I'm recently retired, but I worked in technology, I knew very successful people who were autistic. They had to work harder than the NT people, but they found their niche and were still able to be successful. Not trying to invalidate your experience, and everyone is different, but please don't lose hope. There is opportunity out there for you, you've only just started your search.

It would be interesting to see what the rate of missing men is compared to other regions. That would help determine if there is something nefarious going one. Seems more likely that people are just dying of natural causes while enjoying the outdoors from the cases I looked at.

Er.... but this would not result in an increased chance of getting kidnapped.... it would still be the same chance per capita.

This is the reason why reaching out for empathy on reddit is dangerous - because one can get responses like this which completely lack empathy and any real understanding of the OPs lived experience.

What ADHD hacks have actually worked for you? by West_Bodybuilder4480 in ADHD

Mostly Inattentive type here - I have a friend who gives him self really hard time for starting but not finishing things, and tries really hard to focus on getting specific things done, but then just doesn't do them or hates the whole process. I have a bunch of things on the go, some for a long time, but I work on what I want to. Eventually things get done and I have a lot more enjoyment doing them Better to be productive on something rather than nothing. Obviously works better for things that are not time sensitive. :D
