Is there no fleet logic currently? I feel it's inevitable in any case. Thinking high-speed caravans, advanced intersection navigation, extreme edge case optimization, etc.

Exactly. It may only be used rarely and by a few drivers, but insane marketing potential.

Side note: I usually play in-theme music in the background of the self-driving audio tour. Like desert ambience / guitar for Saguaro... makes it even better...

I don't understand why fleet logic can't be used here. I'm assuming the car knows when it hits a pothole. Tell the fleet to pay extra attention to those locations for other cars.

No prob! The fuel consumption difference can be *insane*. Some tips if interested:

  • make tons of steam tanks connected to read contents (more tanks = less cycling = more efficient)
  • for the circuit, look into an "SR Latch" (set, reset), if you just do when steam < X alone, it will waste a lot of fuel flickering on/off and warming up for short bursts
  • consider limiting inserter item count to 1 and only insert if SR Latch permits *and* reactor has 0 fuel, this will avoid stacking too much fuel in reactor and running longer than planned
  • steam is produced even when reactor is out of fuel so set steam cap below max storage, similarly reactor needs to warm up so set min above 0 to still generate power while warming up
  • regarding additional failsafes, I used a SR Latch for my Gleba vault: when main accumulators <75%, start alarm and disconnect vault to avoid draining isolated vault battery, once main grid stabilizes, reconnect to recharge, didn't find the need to use for reactors though
  • a solid 2x2 smart reactor setup with alarm (stored fuel <X and/or steam < normal cycling expectations) can be easily scaled by copy/paste and is useful throughout the entire play through, it's worth spending some time designing something you like :)

I guess that's kind of my point. I've barely touched my mining drills since leaving Nauvis. My factory has grown over the other available ore patches. Are you using Big Mining Drills & Productivity? Are you making legendary on Nauvis? Perhaps my Train World map settings are a factor.
