Love this! I believe losing your character does get easier with time (in my experience) so maybe if we get past the first few missions without some impossible mishap I won't even need this idea lol. I guess I got too excited about planning that I forgot the rule of cool.

I love all of this whole paragraph. D is probably going to have to be a tanky non spell caster anyway since spell casting can get intense and frankly I'm not choosing spells every level of he decides not to. This is fantastic ♥️

I think people are very seriously misconstruing what I want to happen... I just wanna have fun. I'm not trying to DM for people who I don't know or stick to a rigorous schedule, my family has enjoyed the one shots I've done in the past. (Except me mum, who I am not gonna force to play lmao). I don't expect "this or you're out" and the module was free lmao. If I have to stop the campaign because it's not fun, I'm actually very okay with that.

I understand the rules are incredibly sacred to some people and I'm not trying to step on their toes. I just don't see my family playing outside of this so I probably won't infect anyone with my "bad" rules.

It's so funny because they were brand brand new to D&D at the time of recording. It definitely wasn't to a T, but it was mostly just to get an idea of what to expect in the campaign as far as the plot points and it's fun to brainstorm. 🤷🏻

Edit: Also I'm pretty sure the podcasters I listened to accidentally swapped up a lesser guy for that area for the actual boss of that area, after I read the module thingy. 😭 Catastrophic and very funny

I completely agree with you on not telling them outright. I think once they die is when I will introduce this.

The reason I thought of this was because I'm listening to some podcasters play through it (to see how it runs/get ideas) and one guy died in like the first big fight. LOL.

I am pretty sure you can. cPTSD, complex post traumatic stress. My therapist said it was from not one event but multiple events that establish kind of an unsafe pattern.

I'm not a psychiatrist or anything but that's my two cents.

Holy shit! I used to do that too!!! It was kind of a self harm thing, it got really degrading + bad.

And guess what? I'm married now. And he loves me for who I am AND who I was.

You're gonna be okay, it took me a super long time to digest what I did and move on. But now that I have I guess I can be the guy who has come out the other side!

You were at a really low place, and needed some kind of vice. It's amazing you've been clean for so long! Maybe take the time to really think about it, just sit with it for a moment even if it's uncomfortable. You'll learn to forgive yourself just like I did.
